NO COMMANDO?? . . . .ARGHH! Can I do this?

Love WC's curls in the last photo :cutie: It's so nice how you can all split up and enjoy different things but still be together!

So glad to hear that the meal brightened everyone's spirits! I'm glad you got to see the concert!:thumbsup2 The picture of WC is sooo precious with her little curls hanging all over! Cannot wait to hear about your favorite meal and Blizzard Beach!:cool1:

Great updates, I have to remember about that Visa meet and greet when I take my goddaughter. Also, reading reports like yours, I think I may plan a down day in the middle of the trip as we are going for 9 days.

I love the matching outfits, they are great! Too bad your minus a member in the picture. It was great that LeCellier was able to seat you together! Sounds liek the meal was great!

WC had newly short hair in the pictures because she had a little adventure with craft scissors and her and the dog's hair recently! :rotfl: At least it was in time for summer and swimming.

Food does soothe the spirits, doesn't it!

With a trip of a week or more, I think the down day is crucial! There are so many lower-key things to do that we didn't even get to do, like story telling, movies, hayride, etc. The kids loved just having time to play in the pool, too. Plus, we learned from our last trip it's nice to have flexibility in case of rainy days, someone not feeling well, etc. :sad2:

Yes, of course I wanted to tell DSIL to just wait a few more minutes, but his picture wouldn't have been too good with his eye watering so much he couldn't see! :confused3 LeCellier was really good! :dance3:

Okay, this is our day for wrapping up loose ends. I had left it open in case we got rained out or Wild Child got a migraine one day or we needed to change plans for any reason. We have an ADR at Kona at 6:40, and I love to walk down to the beach afterwards for the water parade and fireworks. So if we feel like it we will do that. Wishes are at 9 pm so we won’t get back to Pop TOO late. We have been talking about the water parks all week and we still haven’t made it there. We also had thought about hitting Disney Quest today. Originally we had planned to check out on Saturday and then spend the rest of the day at MK to re-do our favorites there and catch anything we had missed, but we re-evaluated and decided we can do a water park this morning and then go to MK for the afternoon since it is easy to get to Kona from there. Then tomorrow we will go to DTD after check-out so I can do my souvenir shopping and we can check out DQ. Dreamy is really getting into the video and computer games, so we know he will love DQ. DH and I have to catch ME earlier than we expected so we probably won’t go to DQ at all. As it turns out, we were REALLY glad we decided to go to MK today.

We let Dreamboy pick the water park, and after all his research by watching “The Top Seven Must-Sees at Disney” ( or whatever that show was) he picked Blizzard Beach. :happytv: DD and I thought this would probably be the best for the kids since Dreamy is not adventurous and probably wouldn’t do any slides, the kids’ areas at BB looked great, and the wave pool at BB is not as rough. :yay: As usual, Dreamboy and I set off first. DD and Wild Child would follow when she got going, and DH and DSIL would take a pass.

We put on our swimsuits, and got slathered and sprayed. Dreamy had on his anti sunburn water shirt, since he has that milk and roses fair complexion. I grabbed the beach towels and made sure we had the goggles, water shoes, waterproof pass-holder, cellphone in a plastic bag, clothes to change into, etc. and off we went. We got to BB in time to take advantage of about 20 minutes of EMH, which is a really nice perk at the water parks. I highly encourage you to use this option if you are staying on property. :woohoo: There were already people starting to line up at the gate and it got crowded pretty quickly after ten. We headed over to the little kids area and dropped off our towel bag on a chair and then went to the older kids’ Ski Patrol Training Camp. Dreamboy surprised me by heading right to the iceberg crossing area and giving it a try. He got across with no problem so headed on to the next one. Then he tried one of the slides which don’t use rafts, but he kept getting stuck. The lifeguard said it was probably his water shirt. So I suggested he try the one with a raft. I offered to go up with him and follow him down, so he took me up on it. We went down twice, and these were our only slides of the day! :cutie: We decided to go look for the wave pool. At this point I saw I had a missed call from DD, so called back and they were in the park. We went and met them at our chair. They went with us to the wave pool for a while, then we returned to Tike’s Peak, where Wild Child had a blast on the slides. Dreamy and I went off to give the lazy river a try. I found out that getting Dreamy and myself on tubes while holding onto two tubes was not as easy as it looked! :headache: After a few miscues, we made it, and off we went on our relaxing? trip. Well, it might have been relaxing if I hadn’t been so busy trying to keep our tubes together and steer us away from the sprays and downpours along the way! :rotfl2: After heading about a third of the way around, I started thinking about how long this would take and that we were going to be late for the rest of the day, so when Dreamboy told me he needed to go to the bathroom it made a great excuse to get out. :thumbsup2 We reconnected with DD and Wild Child, changed into our clothes, and headed back to Pop. We don’t have pictures because I didn’t want to keep up with my good camera and forgot the disposable one in the room. :cool2:

We love BB it has the best rides for my DD's age! I always get stuck on rides must remember to wear a sun shirt to blame it on next time :lmao:

It didn’t take us long to get back to Pop and changed for MK. We grabbed a quick lunch in the food court and went to catch the bus. We asked the kids what their top thing to do was, and Wild Child wanted Splash Mountain and Dreamy wanted Buzz. So other than that we just planned to do whatever struck our fancy. When we entered the park we ran into some lovely ladies on Main Street, and Wild Child struck up a conversation.
laurenandladies.jpg

Then we turned right to Tomorrowland and picked up FP’s for Buzz. We didn’t want to go on to Fantasyland and then have to double back, so we looked around to see what we wanted to do. Then we realized we hadn’t seen the Monsters Inc Comedy Club show, and there was only a 5 minute wait, so we hopped right into that line. It was a cute show, and we all enjoyed it. Then we decided to see the Carousel of Progress, as it had been a while since we had seen it. I had forgotten a lot of it, and enjoyed that little look back into the past. Then we just had time for another ride on the TTA before our FP’s. :goodvibes

After battling Zorg one last time, we headed to Fantasyland. I grabbed the passes and went ahead to get FP’s for Splash Mountain (with a Dole float detour on the way back), and they stopped off at Snow White and then rode Small World. We started on to Frontierland to work our way over to SM. Since we hadn’t seen Country Bear Jamboree yet, we stopped in there. I have to say, that was the most disappointing attraction in the whole week. It needs some serious re-working. I don’t mind hokey, but it wasn’t even funny to the kids, and 5 and 8 year olds laugh at anything. :confused3 We rounded out the day with another ride on SM for Wild Child, DD, and me. This time we were prepared with our ponchos, so we stayed dry. We then made some pre-teen girls happy by donating the ponchos to them on the way out! We just had time for one more ride, so we divided up again. Dreamboy wanted to ride Jungle Cruise again, so I went with him, and Wild Child just LOVES the POC, so she, DD, and DSIL rode that for the third time. This was on the way to catch the train to ride back to the front.

Next: A magical end to our last evening

We exited and grabbed the monorail to the Polynesian. We were meeting DH in the lobby at the Poly, which made me a little nervous after our last dinner meeting mix-up, but this went smoothly. We found a seat in the bar area while we were waiting, and decided to celebrate a great week with a special drink. I had read a great deal about the Lapu Lapu, but didn’t really want to spend that much on a drink. When I told DD about it, though, she said she wanted to treat us both to one. When she was a little girl, we went for several years to a condo at the beach which was right next to a motel/resort with a fancy pool and a pool bar. She watched the ladies with their fancy drinks with fruit and paper umbrellas, and she thought that was just the lap of luxury. She decided that when she was a grown-up she would know that she had “arrived” when she was drinking one of those fancy drinks. So we each had a Lapu Lapu in celebration of that funny memory. It was so much fun! :cheer2:

I have to say that I thought this was definitely the best meal of the week. DD and I had the crab cake appetizer, DH had salad, and DSIL had potstickers. Dreamy had wanted a kid’s hamburger meal all week, but they were kind of hard to find, surprisingly enough. So he and Wild Child were happy to find them here. Wild Child only ate a few bites of hers before putting her head down on the table and kind of dozing. Three of us had the filets, and they were wonderful - so tender and perfectly cooked for several different tastes. The mashed potatoes and asparagus accompanying them were excellent too. DSIL had the mahi mahi and he said it was delicious too. For dessert, I had the Kilauea torte with the molten chocolate center, DD had the banana crème brulee, and DH had the white chocolate cheesecake. TOO YUMMY! :goodvibes We will put this on our agenda for every trip from now on!

After dinner, Wild Child had perked back up, so we decided we were up for a walk to the beach. It was around 8:45 by now so we got there just in time to grab a lounge and settle in. The kids enjoyed running around on the beach and unwinding. We saw the electric water parade and then Wishes, a perfect way to end our last night in Disney World. We decided to take the monorail to Epcot and catch a bus from there for two reasons. We knew the busses at MK would be packed for the next hour, since the fireworks had just ended, and Dreamy had expressed a wish to ride the monorail from MK to Epcot since we hadn’t done that yet. This turned out to be a good move, because the busses at Epcot were not nearly as crowded. :yay:

Just before we got there, DD and I were discussing how we wanted to get some packing done tonight. Then we remembered that we had coupons for free 5 X 7’s from out Photopass pictures, and we had to pick them out in one of the parks before we left! So we sent the others ahead while we ran into Epcot to the Kodak center just inside the gate and got our pictures. By the time we got on the bus after that, we realized we were way too tired to do much packing tonight. We needed sleep more than anything else! I think we were a little depressed that our week was ending, too. :sad1:

Next: Major change in plans, and disappointment for Dreamboy

Thanks for Kona review Pittypat! :goodvibes I can't wait to get my hands on a Lapu, for sure! Your night on the beach sounded wonderful. What a way to wrap up a great vacation.

I can't believe your TR is almost over!! I've enjoyed seeing WDW through the eyes of you and your family. Feel free to take your time on the last installments....let us savour these last ones! :thumbsup2

Hi Pittypat! You sure pack alot of fun into your
"non-commando" day!:rotfl2: Sounds like a wonderful last night for your trip. Tell us: What is a Lapu Lapu - I always love a good umbrella drink!

Thanks, Disneyland_Mama! I can't believe it is almost over either. I will probably wrap it up pretty quickly so that I have more time to read other people's trip reports - I'm getting behind! :yay: Actually, I have a lot of company coming to visit in June so I will not have as much time to play with this. :confused3

The Lapu Lapu is a typical tropical style pineapple/rum based drink, served in a hollowed out pineapple with an umbrella and fruit on top. It costs about $12, but it IS fun! :dance3:

 Whaaaah! Last day coming up!!

And as far as the Lapu Lapu is concerned, well, it's a vacation PittyPat, so I say go ahead and treat yourself! :thumbsup2

Yes, I almost hate to post the last day because that means it is officially over! :sad2: :sad1: But the Lapu is definitely a GOOD memory! :cutie:

HMM, I may have to try Kona for dinner, it hasn't been on my radar but after your review, I may have to re-thing that.

The time on the beach sounds so nice, what a great final evening.

I am glad you said how disappointed you were with country
bear jamboree. We waited for about 20 minutes for the show
to start. What a waste! I thought maybe I was just
tired from a long week. I am loving your trip report. We
just went to WDW in March and we aren't going back until
11/09 :sad2: What a long wait.

You need to go to Kona. It was terrific. And do try out that beach thing. You won't be sorry!:cheer2:

Oh, I'm sad for you, but we will probably have to wait that long also, so I'm said for us too!! :scared: Yes, I really didn't remember CBJ being that bad! :confused3 Definitely not Disney worthy any more. Thanks for reading! :cutie:

Okay, I've been putting off posting about our last day, but it is time to go ahead and get it over with. I really didn't want to THINK about the last day, much less write about it, because it was a really bad day. :headache: :sad1: And also because writing about the return home makes it very clear that it will be quite a while before we can go back, like at least a year or two! :sad2: I have it almost ready now so will try to post it tomorrow, but tonight I just wanted to add pictures of my other two precious grandchildren. These two are almost two, and almost four. My DS and DDIL only live an hour away, so I get to see them more often. :woohoo:
piersonpeyton2.jpg

These were made at our camp Memorial Day. My littlest guy has a cast on his hand because he broke his thumb the day before Easter. As of this week, though, he has it off. :cool1: Just in time for swimming!
piersonpeyton.jpg

My other happy thoughts tonight are because I just returned from 5 days at DD's house, and I brought Dreamy back with me to stay a week or more. :dance3: So we are having a great time. He talked my ear off on that long drive yesterday because he was so excited to come, and he told me that he had 3 homes: his original house, Mimi and Pop's house, and the camp! So day after tomorrow he and Pop will head down to the camp for their special guy time. :cutie:

Next month Wild Child will get her chance to stay with us by herself, and then in August we are all going to the beach with DS and his family, DD and her family, DH and me. :dance3: I'm really looking forward to that now. The only thing that would make it better would be for my oldest DS to join us, but he can't get off work. Then both Dreamy and WC will stay for a few days with us afterwards. What a great summer!

Right now I'm getting ready for my brother, sister-in-law, niece, and her boyfriend to come this weekend. So when Dreamy and DH go to the camp, I will be cooking and cleaning! :scared1: Mother is so thrilled to have us both here, though, that it makes it very worthwhile.

What a terrific last night! And glad you guys enjoyed your Lapu Lapus :cloud9:

But. I'm worried about what's coming next...
