I'm getting a new washer and dryer today. How much should I tip the delivery men?
TIA

Uhoh.

My roommate had a washer dryer delivered last week ... I don't think he tipped.

Is this a normal policy?

When I got my new washer and dryer I tipped the "main guy" $20 and the "helper" $10. They delivered and connected the pair to the water/elec.

I still don't know if that was too much or too little.

I really have no idea at all!:confused3 I don't want to be cheap but after spending a fortune on the machines I don't want to over tip either!

Oh. I had a stove delivered last week and I didn't tip??? I thought the $55 was enough. Don't they get paid a regular salary??

Sorry Home Depot guy! I didn't think to tip you!

Maggie

I had a twin mattress delivered a few weeks ago and tipped $10 for two guys. They were in and out in under 3 minutes.

When we had our washer delivered, I tipped $20 for two guys.

I paid $60 in January to have my Sears dryer delivered and hooked-up. Tipping the two guys never even crossed my mind.

I have had a new sectional and a new Washer dryer delivered in the last two weeks. I didnt tip. They get paid a salary and I spent a fortutune on delivery.

Honestly, I am getting a bit tired of all the people who seem to expect a tip these days. From the drive through window at Starbucks to Dunkin Donuts, everyone wants a tip. JMHO, so no flames please!

I tip anywhere from $5 to $20, but it depends on the job and how well it is done. ;)

At the least, though, I offer a cold drink. My dad owns a moving company and his crew is appreciative even for that small gesture.

Here's my tip....
Don't wear your muddy boots across my beige carpet.

or...

don't put a big gash in my vinyl floor.

(both of which have happened to me)

No tipping here for those services.

When I had my washer/dryer delivered I tipped $20. Yes, the delivery men get an hourly wage, but it truly is labor intensive work! Especially when it is hot outside.

ITA!!!! I do usually offer a coke/bottled water on their way out. But tipping?? Sorry, my $75 delivery fee should take care of that.

I do NOT tip for furniture/appliance deliveries. I paid big bugs for those things and I probably paid a delivery fee as well.

I DO tip when I am moving to a new house and hire moving men, however. I tipped each guy $20.

agree here. i offer something to every delivery person or labor person. even my UPS driver occasionally gets hot out of the oven cookies if he is here at the right time. and the guys who did my siding last year got more popsicles, bottled water, soda and sandwiches than i could keep track of. when the guys put on my sunroom (in cold November) they got a crock pot of food for lunch every day---either beef stew or chili or soup--plus fresh out of the oven homemade bread.

Thanks for the advise guys. I just put sodas and waters in the freezer for the delivery guys.

I have never tipped for that sort of thing, I figured when you paid the delivery charge that went for that, I guess I really need to rethink that

I think you have to factor in weather, amount of labor involved, politeness, completion of work, etc. If they are rude, no tip. Otherwise, depending upon my assessment of the job determines the tip. Had a delivery of furniture a month ago, crew left debris and didn't have the mounting brackets for a hutch they delivered(crew should check when loading items)- no tip. Oven delivered on time, and checked over by delivery crew - $3.00 tip each. Install done by seperate crew, removed old oven and took time to balance wall unit - $5.00 tip each.
