We just got back from our 9 night stay at Disney's Polynesian Resort and have to say that we were very disappointed with the room quality. So, here was a list of things that we had to bring to the managers attention:

1.Fan in bathroom wasn't working
2.Old cookie chunks under bed
3.Shower head was coming out of wall
4.Shower dropped a piece of sharp wood below a family member
5.Bathroom door got stuck when locked:scared1:

I know many of you will say "but it's Disney", but we were paying over 300.00 a night to stay in a deluxe hotel. Someone has to care.

So do you honestly think I should cancel my reservations for the last week of Sept there?

Oh no! I was just saying that we are finding that the quality of the rooms have gone down hill.

I'm so sorry you had a less than magical experience at Disney. I glad you called a manager and I hope they fixed all the problems right away! I'd be scared to shut the bathroom door if I got stuck in it:scared1:

Most resorts anywhere have their "dud" rooms, but most are clean and working properly. It's people like you, that bring it to the attention of the managers, that make it cleaner for the next person.

Hopefully your next trip will be much better.

This is probably none of my business but did you ask nicely if there was a upgrade availible? I am going with my mother as a birthday gift for her from me and I could only afford a garden view, even though I wanted something better.

Did management respond to you promptly? Were the problems fixed? Did you request to be moved? Nine nights in such a broken down room would be hard on me!

Uconn,
You may have meant to quote a different person? I was very happy with my garden view room in Niue. It was a beautiful location, just a few steps from the quiet pool and a few more to the Volcano Pool. We stayed on the bottom floor and were greeted by ducks and a one day a cat! Garden View is the way to go!

I was just letting the OP know that I personally appreciated him/her calling management to let them know about the problems in the OP room. It helps everone in the long run, but is unpleasant at the time for the one having to go through the annoyance.

Did you let management know your issues while you were there? What was their response?

We just came back from a great stay there in April. We were in Tokelau so maybe that was part of the difference.

We did and they just ignored the question. The manager sent the maids and the engineer up, but they somehow didn't fix the problems:rolleyes:

OT...but is your print getting smaller or do I just need to step away from the computer?:rotfl:

oh good! I thought my eyesight was gone:upsidedow

Anyway, I hope your vacation was magical in every other way.

Thanks 2manypets :)

Our vacation was magical! We were the "Ohana Of The Day" at the Torch Lighting Ceremony.

Sorry about all your room problems. We stayed in the Concierge Bldg. in Dec. and had room problems too, but they fixed it right away. Our safe was locked, it was supposed to be open, the worst 2 things were our sliding door would not lock and we were on the lst floor, there was a hole in the wall by the door too which was freaking the one ds out because he wanted to sleep on the daybed and then the whole electrical outlet strip pulled out of the wall when ds unplugged the iron after ironing his shirt. DH looked at it and saw there were one or no screws in it. Lots of little things but they sure added up to alot. I know what you mean, our room was like $400 plus, gag, gag but that is all they had left, we only did it for a few days and went to the Dolphin. I feel for the money you pay for a Disney Deluxe you should Not have any room problems or they should be promptly fixed. Sorry for the bad customer service you received. Hope your next trip is more magical.

We were at Poly last week of April for our first trip ever. We arrived around 8:30pm and were given the wrong directions to our room by the woman who checked us in! She highlighted the map and everything to the wrong longhouse! Walked around the wrong long house for about 15 minutes before I made the trek back to the check in desk and was given our correct building. Then waited waited waited for Magical Express to deliver our luggage. I finally called front desk at 11pm asking where our stuff was~front desk said it should have been to our room by 10pm since flight landed at 7pm~ 15 minutes later it was delivered no explanation. Another day we came back to our room to find someone else's luggage in our room. Called again to have someone pick up. None of these things are too major just lots of 'huh?' moments that I didn't expect from a deluxe or Disney I guess.
