Just back from a trip to the Poly - May 2-6. We stayed GV concierge and had a wonderful trip. I'm working on a trip report but happy to field any questions.

We're so sad to be back - If anyone wants to take me on their upcoming trip, just let me know. :rotfl:

I would like to know if you received anything "special" or "extra" that you did not personally order or pay for, example, the sand buckets for the kids or the chocolate post card.

We did - We got sand buckets (with colors and stickers in them, I think) for each of my children, and the chocolate post card arrived in our room later the day we checked in. Other than the leis that I believe everyone gets, that's it.

We're still holding on to the chocolate post card - arguing over who gets to eat it!:goodvibes

Thats cool about the sand toys, I hadnt heard of this. My kids will be so excited if they got these. What floor were you on? I cant decide if I want to wish for first floor or third floor. We have the lagoon view so maybe third would be better.

ohhh do they always give out a choco. postcard??! That sounds so cool! We are going in Nov, LVConcierge, and i am psyched!!
One question, did they ever have Tonga Toast in the concierge lounge? I was told by someone they had it.. but i am hearing from the DIS that they don't..

Both times we've stayed concierge we got both the pails and the chocolate bar (it's real cute - it has a picture of the Poly on it somehow). They definitely do not have Tonga Toast in the lounge - they just have things like danishes, bagels, cereals and fruit. I eat fairly low-carb, so I'd usually run to Captain Cooks and get some eggs and sausage to go and bring it into the lounge to eat while my family ate the lounge stuff. I did eat the bananas, though - somehow they were really good and I don't usually like bananas! ;)

My family and I are staying in the exact same view as you this coming December for the very 1st time so here are my questions. Was check-in easy in the Hawaii building and did you go on a golf cart with your luggage to get there? Also how was the walk to the Great Ceremonial House and to the TTC from the Hawaii building and finally how were the Cast Members working in Concierge?

Sorry so slow on the reply - I just hate it when work gets in the way of thinking about Disney! :)

Anyway, yes, when we got there I just told the first bellman we saw that we were staying concierge. They then took me to the bellstand where they called and got our room number (it was already ready and it was only about 10:45 am). Then we plus all our luggage were transported via big golf cart to Hawaii where we were taken straight back to the room. After a few minutes, I went back out to the Hawaii CMs and did the official check-in and got keys, all important papers, etc. Very easy and very quick, except the nice CM telling me all about the dining plan, park hours, etc. I could have cut her off but just didn't want to.

The Hawaii CMs were always very nice and accomodating. They're always there, except past I think 10:00 at night. Not sure when they arrive in the morning, but I believe it is no later than 7:00.

The walk to the GCH is nothing - very short. To the TTC is a good bit longer, but is very pleasant. The only time it seemed too long was after a late night at Epcot, but I think it had more to do with the food and wine than the walk. ;)

Thank you so much for that information. For my family it will be different but in a good way to stay at the Polynesian after so many stays in the Atrium Club Concierge at the Contemporary. We have become so use to staying in the main building and got to know a few of Cast Members who work up there. However after reading your reviews about them and everything else, I know were going to have a great stay at the Polynesian.

Have fun on your trip! I've actually considered staying at the Atrium Club sometime, but I don't know if I can ever break away from my Poly!

I am glad you got the chocolate postcard. I specifically asked that question because when we were there in dec. we got absolutely nothing. The one cm even came to our room to open the safe and had like 4 chocolate postcards with her. I was shocked when she never gave or offered us one. Worse they asked me to do a survey when I came home. I even wrote in the survey that our experience there was nothing like other people have described (from the Dis boards). I did a little review of our stay and posted it on the boards too. We only took the room because it was all they had left. If we ever stay there again, (concierge, we usually get a garden view regular room) and its really a big if, I think I will jokingly say to a cm, so what do you have to do to get a chocolate postcard around here etc? I am glad you had a great stay.

Y'all asked me to let you know when I get my trip report up - I just got the first installment up (probably too long) - it's called under "Party at the Poly - First Trip Report" or something like that under the trip report page. I can't figure out how to post a link - sorry!

Mary Poppins - sorry you didn't get your chocolate! They're really cute. If you ever try Hawaii again, I'd do just what you said you would do so you can get one!

Here's a link to your trip report and I look forward to reading the rest of your report. My family and I will be staying in a GVC room in July and I'm going to request a ground floor room as well. I always look forward to seeing the reports from people who just got back from the Poly, kind of makes me wish I was there right now. The problem with that is, I always want to be at the Poly.:rotfl2:

Hey, Eddie, thanks so much for posting the link!! I'll have another installment up today or tomorrow for sure. I'm now jealous of you going in July - it's always so sad when the trip is over! Have a great time!

One big reason we are staying Concierge at the Polynesian is because the Atrium Club was sold out for our dates in December, when we called to make reservations. At 1st we booked a Bay Lake View, however we decided to be different for a change and try Concierge at the Polynesian. I also remember looking for fun on the WDW website and saw that a room in the Atrium Club became available for our dates, however we decided to stick with the Polynesian.

Oh man! After seeing those cute postcards, if i don't have one on my last day -- i will DEFINATELY inquire about them!! LOL they are too cute, and one of them WILL be making the trip back home with me! LOL

Hi, glad you had a great stay! I love the Poly too...my favorite!

Question...what floor did you have? Sorry, I haven't read the trip report yet...you probably say it in there. How was your view? I'm debating between asking for 1st or 3rd...we stayed 3rd last September and really liked it except for the squished love bugs all over the balcony!

Oops, never mind, I just read your trip report, 1st floor, got it!

You're right, of course, first floor. We loved it. It faced toward the quiet pool, but it had bushes totally blocking our ability to walk out to the sidewalk from the patio. At first I didn't think I would like that, but it wound up being a fairly private, very nice place to sit. I'm currently struggling with whether to reserve LV or GV next time. Either way, I think I'm inclined to get 1st floor. Regardless, as I said in the TR, we'll definitely not be staying second floor again. I didn't think having the patio (or balcony) would appreciably (sp?) add to our trip but it did.
