I wasn't totally happy about staying at All Star Sports, we originally were going to Disney next weekend and stay at Pop but had to change a few days before we went due to forgetting Mother's Day is next weekend and my side of the family always get together (especially this year after losing my grandfather a few months ago) so I changed and only ASSp was available.

We checked in early in the morning around 9am and our room was ready. I was happy to see we were on the 1st floor but sad to see it was in building 9 which is the furthest building out. But we found out that wasn't that bad.

Two things about this hotel, it doesn't seem as big to me as the other two All Stars, building 9 was an easy and quick walk via the parking lot to the bus stop. And also it's the first of the 3 hotels so you get picked up first (easier to get seats) and you get dropped off first.

Our room ended up facing the smaller pool and we were on the first floor, it wasn't too loud and although we didn't go swimming, it was nice to look out the window and see the pool and hub bub going on. I wish I had brought suits, we were SO close to the pool, we've never been that close that you leave your room and walk 30 feet to the pool before...

So all in all I really enjoyed this hotel!

Whew! After the start of your post I was all ready for the bad stuff! I feel exactly the same way about ASSp. No room is really that far from the buses and food court and the whole pick-up first, drop-off first just can't be beat! I'm glad that you had a good time despite not being at my beloved Pop :).

Could you see any renovations beginning? I think I read here that ASSp would begin renovations soon.

Nice to hear positive things!! We'll be at Sports for 9 nights beginning May 28th and we're so excited. :thumbsup2 The waiting is driving me crazy!!

The reburbishing at All Star Sports is slated to begin in June and finish in November of this year. (2007)

------------------------------------------------------------------
All Star Music is currently undergoing a refurbishment of all of the rooms and is slated to be completed by June 2007.

The refurbished rooms have been repainted, they have new furniture, new carpeting, new curtains, & new bedding!

The Calypso and Jazz buildings are completed and the last heard they were working on the Broadway buildings.

DH and I stayed in a reburbished at All Star Music in September 2006.

They were really nice.

allearsnet has some photos of a newly Jazz room posted on their website:

To the OP
I am glad you enjoyed your stay at All Star Sports.

I am thinking about staying there next fall when our dd,dsil, and our granson (who will be 6 and loves sports) will join us for a Disney vacation.

imgoing in 6 days...to sports..been staying at the allstaar resorts..since they were built..stayed at pop 3 times didnt like it that much..its way too big..allstars is cozier..(i think)but there isnt a bad resort at disney!!!!GO AND ENJOY THEM###

Disney is really staying on top of this resort if they are refurbshing already. W were there last year and everything looked brand new.

we are staying at AS Sports- Surf's Up building this coming September- can't wait as we always enjoy ourselves at this resort..

Thanks for your report. We have stayed at the POP before and the other All Stars, but in August will be our 1st time at the Sports. I think my DS's will really enjoy it. :)

I noticed some painting going on at AsMu, they were painting the whole front of the mail building.. same color, just brighter.

I am so glad to read that you enjoyed your stay at All-Star Sports.I am a 7-time All-Star Sports "veteran" and just really like this resort. There is just something about being in the sports-themed atmosphere all of the time. Also,as others have written, all of the buildings seem fairly close to Stadium Hall and the pick-up first,drop-off first bus service is REALLY an advantage for All-Star Sports.Also,All-Star Sports was the resort I stayed in when I went on my first trip{once-in-a-lifetime LOL:) }so there is a sentimental tie also.I can't wait for the refurbishment to be completed!:)

we too stayed there 26april til 4 may. i have no complaints at all. we even got a mickey head towel shape. the first nite we where in a room in one of the big helmets (not sure of the number or name), but it is considered standard. and it was actually very close to the main building and if you walked on the outside, it was even closer to the bus stops.

the rest of the nites we were in another room, one considered preferred, surfs up building. it was also a handicapped room, 1 king size bed. we did get a roll away bed for free, and the refrigerator came with the room for free also. the bathroom was pretty big, but there is no tub in the handicapped rooms, it was like taking a shower at a gym. while at first i thought this strange (for me) but by the time i left, i enjoyed it. LOL

rooms were clean, food court was clean, pool was great. we enjoyed it, again no complaints.

would i stay here again, yes. but i am trying to stay at a different hotel each time. but with the sports being the first bus stop, well that is a pretty good draw in alone.

Does anyone happen to know which buildings are being renovated and in which order? I figure there is someone one here who always knows. :thumbsup2

We consider Sports to be our 'home resort' and swap Christmas cards and such with several of the employees. The main reason we started staying there is that since it is at the end of Buena Vista Blvd. we could not get lost UNLESS we make a LEFT at DTD. It has happened. :lmao:

The only complaint I had on our last visit was that we had so many towel animals that there was barely room for us in the room by the time we checked out 21 days later. :cool1:

I don't know the order, but ALL buildings will be refurbished beginning next month.:) It is nice to see a post from another All-Star Sports "veteran".:) I would think they would start with Surf's Up and move outward from there, but that is just a guess.:)

We usually request the Touchdown building in the back close to the bus stops but one time because they were renovating that building we were forced to stay at the Surf's Up building directly across from the pool, for the same price. I do not mind if it happens again even though the TD building is a few steps closer to the bus stop. :)

Hey Slighty goofy, you took my request for the touchdown building :lmao: I guess I 'm getting their before you so will have to see who gets what! :) Do you think less people will want to be in the surfs up buildings because the pools will be closed?
Laura

MY DH and I will be at the All Star Sports in Sept 14th through the 21st for the fist time cant wait, which is the best building to be at ?

We stayed at the Sports for the first time last August. My son being the baseball fan loved being at the baseball building!! I did, too, because it was so quiet!! I loved the food court, the quiet pool was our favorite (nice and quiet during the day, we never went swimming at night), and laundry was right next door. Oh, and the bus stop was a short walk if you took the sidewalk along the road.

What I didn't like was all the kids (meaning teens and tweens) running around til midnight and later. I was shocked at all the kids running around! But our room was the opposite side of the pool, so it all worked out. The bus service was also very slow.

But would I stay there again? Absolutely. I'd just be asking for a room the baseball building with a view of All Star Music's parking lot!!

BTW, we had a short walk through the parking lot to get to ASMu. We loved their pool and the colors of the buildings and also thought we might want to try staying there next trip.

Hey Laura, I got connections at Sports! :thumbsup2 Maybe we will be in rooms next to each other? One never knows. Since my favorite room has a nice view of the trash containers I do not fear that many others will vie for the view. :lmao: I never open the curtains anyway as we are not in the room during the day and get back late at night anywho.

abeyst, I have read of many who got rooms way back in the back and just walked over to Music and used their facilities cause it was closer. I cannot hear things I want to hear so kids running around do not bother me one bit. I had a child next door to our room once who kept banging their door open and closed but when I opened our door and smiled at him he quit. Sometimes folks do not realize that they are bothering others until reminded. I am a nite owl. Just require quiet in the morning and since I am a sound sleeper it works for me, as long as housekeeping leaves me alone. :woohoo:

patches07, it is all what you really want. Some folks need to be near the pool while others like being in a remote location. I know folks who insist on first floor and those who want third floor. Just click on 'home' and then 'resort' on the top of the page and you will find all the info you need to make your decision. We will be there when you are. Please say hi??
