:confused3 We are planing a trip for Aug 2008 and are looking into staying in one of the MK resorts. We are stuck between GF or CR. Which one has the better view of the castle at night, if we are lucky enough to get a MK view?

On that note, how soon is to soon to start making the reservations so we can purchase the MK view?

Thank you all for any help you can give me and I am sorry if this has been asked before someplace. I have learned a lot on this board.:wizard:

This is not even a contest, the Contemporary has the best views of the Magic Kingdom 100% over the Grand Floridian.

As for when you can book this view, I am not sure about however I am sure someone else can answer that for you.

I always thought the best views of the MK and the castle were from the Hawaii bldg. at the POLY.? Alot of the guidebooks state this. I don't know about the Contemporary;we had great views from the california grill to watch wishes;but I can't comment on how the views are from the hotel maybe some others will weigh in here. Angel

You need to book a CR Tower room with MK view--preferably 7th floor or higher. And beg and plead and grovel for it, and then hope some pixiedust: comes your way and you actually get it. (Nothing like watching Wishes from your balcony. Amazing.)
Good luck and have a great trip! :)

:) Thank you so much. My 2DD wanted the CR and it sounds like they will get their wish. Thew views for Wishes is what we need it for as my DH will not stay at the park to watch. (too many people for him:lmao: )

Is there a better chance of getting the MK view if we go with concierge? (sorry if this is a stupid ??)

Your best bet is to book a MK view room & arrive as early as possible. My mom & I took a special Mother/Daughter trip in 2005. We couldn't decide between CR & BWI so we stayed at both. We took the first flight out of NY @ 6am so we arrived at our first resort (CR) at 10am-ish. We were one of the first to check-in that morning. We were on the end room on the 7th floor. It was perfect. The bellman told us we got that room because we checked in so early. :cool1:

I feel you can request a great view all you want but it really comes down to how early you arrive & how busy that hotel is on check-in.

Also, CR does definitely have the best view of MK. Poly has a nice view straight on but it's far, CR is so close that at times you can hear the park music & rides. :cloud9:

hey I preferred the view from Tahiti -

also saw it from the Cont in a Mk view room.

I preferred the Tahiti. because the Cont is too close you can't see all the fireworks - but the Tahiti is prefect you can.

Contemporary all the way! I've stayed on the 11th floor and the 6th floor. Higher is better! On the 6th floor it just didn't have the same feel. I am praying I get a high floor in September when I go!

The views from Tahiti (in the Poly) are nice, good for fireworks, but not as magical as the views from the CR.

:thumbsup2 Thank you again. I love all the feed back. It sounds like if I book a MK view and request 7th fl or higher we "should" be okay. We usually leave NY on one of the first flights out ourselves so unless anything happens getting there early isn't to big of a problem. Thank you for the tips. Keep them comming. I haven't been to WDW for over 5yrs and can't belive how much I need to know. I used to have a TA do everthing for me but she is getting on in years and I am doing it myself this time. :surfweb: I have to say that this board has been a great help. Thank you all again.

Actually you have a better chance of getting an MK view if you don't do concierge because on the concierge floors MK view is only a request. On non-concierge floors, MK view is guaranteed if you pay for it. On the other hand, if you book concierge, you are likely to get an MK view if you request it and check-in early enough and are willing to wait (all you need is one person to check out from an MK room that day and you are fine) AND you will be guaranteed to be on the 12th or the 14th floor, depending on which one you pay for.

It's on the 14th floor where you can book a Magic Kingdom view. However that means booking a 1 or 2 bedroom suite with the words MK view. The 12th floor it's only by a request however even if you did not get the MK view, you can still see it from the lounge if you wanted to watch Wishes.

The Contemporary has very good views of the Magic Kingdom, including the side view of the castle.

The best views of the castle itself to me are from the Polynesian as you are looking directly at the front of it. So I agree with Tahiti.

If getting a MK view at the Grand Floridian, Sago Cay and Conch Key have the best views.

Do you know if the 1 or 2 bedroom suites will sleep 6. My parents said they want to come with us and this would be better than having to go to a different resort that they could afford. I don't mind paying the extra $$ for the room so that we could all be together. (after all the times they took me places)

if you are on budget you might consider Pop Century. not view of the Mk - but it does have some excellent views of the fireworks from Epcot.

The suites are almost always a lot more expensive than just getting two connecting/adjoining rooms, just so you know. You would save a lot of money and gain a lot of privacy by booking two rooms.

Thank you all once again. You have wonderful ideas. I really wanted a MK viewbut it might get put on hold for a few years. The rest of the family wants to come. That will be about 20 people and so I think we all have to have a family meeting and talk about how much time, space, $ issues, plans, etc to see what is going on. Thankfully we all live within a 10 mile range of each other and it is very easy to get together and this is for next year.

Now, where to start?!!:confused3 hahaha

Well, the regular Tower MK view rooms, while not cheap by any means, are the cheapest rooms with an MK view. Even if you don't get an upper floor room, you will still have a great view.

A sneaky way to back into an MK view is to book garden view and request Tokelau building as some of those rooms have partial views of the MK even though they are classified as garden, but with a big group you might not get your request. That said, the Poly is probably the best place to stay if you want a MK view but find it a bit too expensive. It's only a short walk from most buildings to a great view of the MK from the beach. You might not have it from your room as you go to sleep, but you will have the extra $120 per night that you save by booking a garden view room.

Thank you. However, the rest of the family has not been saving like we have been for this & will not be able to afford any delux hotel. I think we will need to look into POR. It will save us some $ & it will allow us to come back to WDW sonner than another 5 years, like it has been, or even to make a 10 to 12 day trip rather than a 7 day trip. (A few days alone without the rest of the family might be nice.)

Something good always comes out of changes to plans.
