If Dh And I Ate At A SitdoWn Dinner In World Showcase(say Nine Dragons) And Our 3 Kids Didn't Eat ? They Are Too Picky!

There is nothing weird at WDW!!

There were many times, when my DD was younger, that she just didn't want to eat when we did. The Florida heat affected her appetite a LOT. Often times, she'd just get a glass of iced tea while we ordered dinner.

I don't think any of the restaurants will care.

If ur on the dp i wouldnt! ur kids would loose one there credits and not even eat!! if ur not on the dp go 4 it!

My only thought is how old are the kids and could they sit through a dinner and not be disruptive. I know I get bored after awhile and would be antsy :)

The kids would not be charged if they did not eat. You also have the option of paying OOP for a beverage for them.

Have fun planning!

Thanks for the advice. My DD is 10 will be turning 11 when we visit WDW in December so she would be just fine sitting there and chatting with us. I just wasn't sure if it was allowed. There is atleast one TS that we want to choose that I just know she wouldn't be able to find a thing that she would eat. She is SO picky!!

This is really a good idea! I can't believe I never thought of it. This could be a money saver for us. Especially since we're not on the DP this time. :sad1:

The children would not lose a TS credit if this was done. We did this last summer with 4 children who did not want to eat at Coral Reef. We did order each child a drink and an ice cream, while DH and I ate lunch. We just informed the waiter that we would be using 2TS credits and paying OOP for the children. He was fine with this and we did tip a bit extra because he was so attentive to the children. Their bill did have the 18% tip included even though it was cash but we still gave him a bit more because it was not 6 complete meals. Enjoy!

If your daughter is picky, most Disney restaurants will make something for her--like plain pasta or mac and cheese. Depending on the restaurant, they might also be able to bring things in from neighboring restaurants. I would suggest asking to see what they can do for you.

I would not be comfortable doing this as tables for 5 or 6 are hard to come by. You are effectively taking one of those when you really are only utilizing a table for 2.

Go for it. I'm 21 and there's plenty of times I just don't want to eat where my parents want to, but I want to still sit & chat with them.

:rotfl2:

Are you being serious???

Perfectly serious. Tables for 5 are at a premium. Why have one when you're not using it for 5 people to eat? The reataurant loses business and another family of 5 (where all of them actually want to eat) can't get in.

So that a family of five with a couple of picky eaters can still enjoy their vacation together? Really. I don't know about you, but when I go to WDW, I'm thinking about enjoying it with my family, not if the restaurant I'm eating at is making money or not. :confused3

Perhaps a family of 5 with picky eaters could all enjoy dinner together at a buffet so that even the picky ones can eat and you're still all together to enjoy a meal? BTW I'm in no way referring to toddlers, we know how errratically they eat. And my concern is more for other diners (who can"tget a table for 5) than for the restaurant and its profits. Although the server certainly loses out in this scenario.

A family of 5 with a couple of picky eaters shouldn't be punished for having picky eaters. The restaurants are there for all guests to enjoy, so if the family of 5 with a couple of picky eaters gets to the ADR before the family of 5 with no picky eaters, tough. That's the nature of the world. If it's so important for someone to get a table for 5, then they should be on the phone at exactly 180 days out making their reservation, or they may just get beat out by the family of 5 with a couple of picky eaters who thought ahead. The early bird gets the worm and all that. Should my family of 3 feel bad that we're using a table that 4 people could utilize?

Again, the server loses also out. Guess that's tough too. Obviously you've never waited tables.

Your argument about the early bird getting the worm leaves out common courtesy and consideration for others. Based on this saving of pool chairs is also fine for teh early bird when again it is considered discourteous. But I digress, sorry.

Perhaps this is America and people can take their family to eat wherever they want regardless of if their whole party eats a whole meal or not. Any restaurant I have ever been in has always been a first come first served kind of place. Is New York that different than Missouri in the way people go out to eat?? Imagine if eating establishments asked each party how much they planned on spending before seating them. That is how I am reading your post. Is this not what you mean??

Actually some places in NY have a minimum charge per seated person so yes it is different here, and perhaps this is done to avoid the above-described situation.

Back to work. Enjoy your dinner.
