I am wondering whether 10 and 12 year olds are allowed to eat from the kids menues? Usually they say the menues are for 3-9 year old, but I´m not sure whether that are rules or guidelines?

If you are paying cash, not a problem. Anyone can eat off the kid's menus.

If you are on the dining plan, your 10 and 12 year olds will have paid for adult meals. I'm sure you can order off the kid's menu with adult credits but you'd be losing out.

We ordered kids meals for ourselves at CS, no problems.

I have heard of adults on DDP ordering kids meals, no problems.

NOW....will they let anyone over 9 order/pay for a kids meal at TS...that is one to which I do not know the answer!

Yes, the will. My 12 year old son ordered the kid's Mickey Pasta at Citricos.

When we went in 2005, my DD and her friend were 14. They ordered kid's meals at most of our table service places.

Thanks everyone! We´ll be paying cash, we´re not on the DDP. I´m glad to know the kids will all be able to pick what they like most, regardless of their ages. ;)

I took my neice with us who was 12 at the time and most TS places would hand her both an adult and children's menu. Those tween years are so tough, especially for girls, that she was glad they didn't make an issue out of it and just did it. 9 out 10 times she ordered off the children's menu.

This question has come up lots of times and I remember once reading a post which said it was no different to an adult ordering a Happy meal in McDonalds which I thought was a pretty good analogy!

I do understand the concern, though, with regard to table service.

I know that many of our nicer restaurants locally REALLY discourage anyone ordering off the kids menu that is over their designated cutoff. I don't know if any restaurant has refused but some of them have it worded that you really feel funny ordering off the kid's menu if you are too old.

They say something to the effect that: a special menu is available for our guests under 10. We appreciate older guests ordering off the adult menu.

Fortunately, not a problem at Disney.

My son just turned 10 and we will be in WDW the first week of June. We are on the DDP.

I called Disney and they told me that my son could mix and match off the menus since we paid the adult price.

Example: He could order child's entree but get an adult dessert.

Last week, my 14 dd ordered off the kid's menu for dessert at Coral Reef. We were on the dining plan, but don't think that mattered at all. The server was more than willing to get her what she wanted.

We were in WDW in December with two 12 year olds and we were paying cash. The only time that we had a problem ordering off the kids menu was at the Plaza Restaurant in MK. My son wanted the grilled cheese and the CM said that they didn't have one. I said don't you have one on the kid's menu and she said, he will have to pay the adult price for it. I thought that was kinda crummy because no one else all week had made a point of it, but I just said, well, he wants a grilled cheese so yes we want the adult grilled cheese. She rolled her eyes at me and took the order. The thing is, there isn't an "adult" grilled cheese on the menu, just a grilled cheese on the kids menu. We have gotten grilled cheese sandwiches there for years for the kids with no problems. I guess she must have been having a bad day.

This is good to hear! I'm sixteen...but look around 13 and I need my kids meals! Adult meals are just too much food for me sometimes. I'll definitly be ordering off kids menus in places where they have some items on the adult menu in smaller portions such as Le Cellier.

My 10 year old DS was able to order off kids menu with no problems. He was charged the adult price at buffets and family-style dining such as character meals, but was charged the kid's price when ordering from the menu. We pay OOP with the DDE discount.

Wow! That seems kind of rigid! We have eaten at The Plaza twice since DS turned 10 and they let him order from the kid's menu both times. And they charged us the kid's price! I think you are right about the server having a bad day!

I'm 21 and usually get handed the kids menu anyway (really annoying). But I'll usually order off the kids menu in most places just because I don't eat a lot. But it's insulting at 21 to be handed the kids menu or to have the host ask my parents if I need an adult or childrens menu. That's when I'll pipe up and mention that I'm twenty-effing-one and I'd like an adult menu and the drink menu, please.

We were at LeCellier and my DD did not like any of the kids choices and my DS who is 13 said he would eat the kids meal and let her have anything she wanted. The waitress was there and we told her he was oredering the kids meal. I know we were on the DP but even if paying cash there should not be a problem. I would just place the order, not ask first and see what they say.

haha I'm soon to be 17 and I still get kids menu items at WDW sometimes...shhhhhh
