Hi,

I'm 99% sure that we have changed our plans from going to WL this summer, to going to the Poly. I am also changing my ADR's around a bit. Anyways, what is the counter service restaurant at the Poly and what are your experiences there?

Thanks,
Simon :wizard:

It has a polynesian twist, but nothing really out there. I've never had anything bad at Cpt Cooks - it was just remodeled and they have a self server ordring system. I love the sweet potato chips there.

Hi again Simon:

Counter service is Captain Cook's. It's just undergone renovation and updating. We ate there last year and everything was great. There is a new kiosk based ordering system that is supposed to be faster (you enter in your choices, pay, and then you get a buzzer that alerts you when food is ready).

Check out Slavike's report (she was just at the Poly for seven days) on the Resorts board.

The greatest thing about Captain Cook's can be summed up in two words.... Dole WHIPS!!!!!

We just ate there for the first time this past Thursday. All I can say is it was probably one of the best counter service meals we've had. I LOVE the self-ordering (via touch-screen computer)! I liked that in addition to the usual cheeseburgers and hot dogs, they had some different CS options like flatbreads, noodle bowls, and pulled pork sandwiches (which, BTW....was amazing!). This has definitely been added to our "gotta return to" restaurants.

Sammy,
Hi, did Captain Cook's had Tonga toast or french toast for breakfast?, I can't remember how the name is,thanks,Vero.

We were at the Poly in April and loved the touchscreen ordering. Seems so much faster! I recommend the flatbread pizza - a little greasy but very good!! Also I definitely preferred the kids grilled cheese to the adult version -the adult version uses a couple different types of cheese and some type of lettuce / sprouts, but it just didn't sit well with me. The kid version is just regular cheese!

The Tonga Toast is the specialty at the Kona Cafe; I'm not sure they have it at Ohana's for breakfast. Pretty sure they don't have it at Captain Cook's.

'Ohana does not have tonga toast. It is at the Kona Cafe and yes, it is also available at Captain Cook's.
