My son is autistic and really picky about food. He'll eat pizza, pb&j and grilled cheese. We've located several places with pb&j and pizza but I'm wondering if folks know about anywhere to get grilled cheese? Mostly in the parks. I know I can get McDonalds to make a cheeseburger into a grilled cheese will any restaurants in the parks do that?

Thanks in advance!!

I think the Plaza in MK has them... And I think I've seen them on the kid's menu of a few restaurants, I can't really remember which though...

Here's a list of menus in WDW though!: http://allearsnet.com/menu/menus.htm

Also, if you call restaurants ahead of time, I bet most of them wouldn't mind making one special for him, after all, it's just bread and cheese! :cool1:

I don't have a specific list of restaurants, but I do know that we ordered one at Wolfgang Puck Express in Downtown Disney a few years ago. Problem was that our ds loves grilled cheese made with processed cheese slices, and this one was made with "real" cheese...he wouldn't eat it!

And we also had a major meltdown at McDonalds...in Canada, we can get a grilled cheese sandwich Happy Meal, not available in the US as we found out the hard way.

Just FYI.

From other posts I've read, it looks like the restaurants are very accomadating! I would call ahead, but I think even if you didn't and you just asked your server, they will be glad to help you out!:wizard:

Our son is also very picky and grilled cheese is his favourite. Last fall we were at Mama Melrose and he was especially tired that day so pleasing him was very important if you know what I mean!! Well they didn't have grilled cheese but when we asked the waitress if it was at all possible she went to check and came back almost immediatley and told us no problem! We found out after the meal that the chef had run across the park to SciFi to get one!! We asked to speak to him to thank him for going out of his way for us! We also left an additional tip (as we were on the DDP) for the great customer service! :thumbsup2

This makes me laugh because it happens to us in soooo many places, especially when we try to go someplace a little "nicer". It's either a thick cheddar and the kids won't eat it, or it's made on some really great homemade bread (not Wonder)!

Same thing happens when I try to make homemade mac & cheese. They want kraft! :confused3

we have had a similar experience except with chicken strips. We had gone to flying fish for dinner and they did not have chicken strips :-)eek: ) on the menu. Our server said no problem: she sent someone down to ESPN and re plated the chicken strips! Awesome service. That's why the lion share of our vacation dollars end up at Disney!

Thanks for the input. I'm guessing that counter service places would be harder to get accommodations but it sounds like table service restaurants would be worth asking. Thanks for the help. We leave in 4 days, yippee!!!

:cheer2:

We were at ESPN Club last week and a girl at the table next to us ordered one. It wasn't on the menu, but the waitress said "no problem". I recall this because my son had already ordered something else but would have loved a grilled cheese instead. The ESPN Club is cool for kids - they have playstation 2's built into each booth. It was the end of a 9 day trip, and I didn't mind that my son had some downtime to play video games.

Just a heads up for future trips. Grilled Cheeses Happy Meals are never listed on the menu. But, so far as I know they are available at every McDonald's in the U.S. Honestly we hate McDonalds and never go there of our own accord, but often the gorup we are with is going there. I have ordered grilled cheese happy meals many, many times at Mcdonalds' in at least 5 states and never had it questioned (and htey always know what I mean, no describing needed). They use the round center buns from big macs as the bread. I never knew they did this until a vegetarian friend told us about it. It's been a life saver.

The kids' menu at Earl of Sandwich in DTD has grilled cheese sandwiches on their menu. They may be different than your child likes. I haven't seen them.

KIDS' MENU
$3.95

Peanut Butter and Jelly
Grilled Cheese
Turkey Swiss
Pizza Sandwich

My DS is also a grilled cheese lover. The CS at the Poly serves them as part of the kids' offerings, so if you're in the mood to stop by there, you can do that.

We have done the McDonald's thing many, many times.

I know you asked for grilled cheese options mostly in the parks, but one of the best grilled cheese sandwiches I've ever eaten was at Beaches and Cream at the BC. Now I make it a point to get on every trip!
