Which one is better- BC or BCV?

After much thought and a lot of guidance from the friendly folks on the DIS board:surfweb: , I have decided to book our upcoming stay at either the Beach Club or the Beach Club Villas. I've been wanting to stay there because of Stormalong Bay. ;) Which one would you rather stay at and why? I want us to have a good view and be centrally located. I really don't want to have to be walking all over the place to get from point a to point b if possible. Is there a Villa or room number you would reccommend? TIA.

IMO there are more *good views* at the BC than at BCV. Then again, there are many more *good views* at the YC than there are at the BC :)

We've stayed many times at the BC and the YC and this past Christmas was our first stay at the BCV (2br villa). While I appreciate the extra room, the w/d and the kitchen at the villas I do have to say that I prefer the overall experience at the YC / BC more. I've loved our waterview rooms at the YC, sitting out on the balcony watching the boats and having the great view of the boardwalk.

It is possible to get a water view at BC, which you can't get at BCV. In my opinion, that's the only view difference between the two. Otherwise, both have nice garden views, and both have some rooms that overlook Epcot and give you a partial view of the fireworks. Some of the rooms at the BC have a standing room only balcony. Getting a full balcony there is a request, not a guarantee. All of the rooms at BCV have a full balcony (and some of the 1 & 2 BR have more than one balcony), so you are guaranteed to be able to sit outside. BCV is farther from the shop, restaurants, SAB, etc. But the BC is a very large resort, so you could get a room close to Epcot, that would be as long, or longer, a walk to the shop and restaurants than the rooms at BCV.

I've stayed at both. I enjoyed both. But if I were choosing, I would pick BC for shorter stays and BCV for longer ones. If the balcony is really important, I would probably pick BCV as well, so I would know for sure I would get one.

The BCV are located in a separate building from the BC, but it is attached with a covered walkway. There are water views available at the BCV, but they don't look out on the Boardwalk. The BCV are a bit quieter than the BWV since they are located behind the BC and not directly on the walkway around the lagoon.

Don't request a villa by room number. Make your requests by what is important to you. View, Smoking/non, handicapped accessible/non. If you request a specific room number and that room is occupied, they will have no idea what is important to you.

I agree with the above poster, the views (waterview) from YC are great, full balconies, and still access to SAB. We won't go back to BC if we can get YC for same price!!!

I agree with what the pp have said. Both our trips at the BCV, we have had rooms that face Epcot, which I prefer as a view while at WDW. I can see gardens anywhere--where else can I wake up and look out at Spaceship Earth!:goodvibes Our rooms at BCV have always been exceptionally quiet. We also liked how the part of the parking lot that is nearest to the BCV was always half empty--never any problems parking close to the building.:thumbsup2

Can you get a room at the BC by renting points from a DVC owner or is that just the villas?

We are staying at BC (FINALLY DeCIDED!!!) and cant wait... we are super excited... I hope you have as much fun as us...

Thanks for all the post. Now, you've got me wondering. Would you stay at the YC instead of the BC? It will be DH and I (both of us 27). I want a layed back atmosphere, nothing stuffy. Can you get a view of EPCOT from YC or is it just available from BCV? I know we want to stay in the BC/YC comlpex because of Stormalong Bay and I really want to give this resort a try. I know we already love Beaches and Cream and we are going to give Cape May a try this time so it makes since for us to stay there somehwere. So which one? BC or YC? Which one is better?

I've stayed at YC and BCV. I prefer the BCV much more than the YC. I have had a pool view and a garden view at BCV. So quiet and peaceful and only 5 minutes from Epcot. I liked the YC, especially the view. It just seems that the BC has more energy throughout the day.

well, this may sound sort of silly, but I like the blue/green color of the BC better than the YC's grey exterior. It just seems more cheerful to me ! and while I think the YC rooms are not at all stuffy, the lobby does strike me as more formal, while the BC lobby is very casual. Also, we LOVE Epcot, and the BC is just a bit closer. I'm not sure what the views from YC are, but I have to imagine that since the BC is a bit closer to Epcot, the views of Epcot would be better?

I've stayed at the BC and BCV, and was unimpressed by the BCV. I did enjoy the BC very much, but next time I think I'll try the YC. I love the darker woods and colors!

If you are talking about a studio a the BCV, there's a HUGE difference. You'll get a queen and a double sleeper sofa. In a BC room you'll get two queens.

So if you need two seperate sleeping spaces, someone's going to end up on a sleeper sofa.

Actually, I like the Beach Club's colors better too! We want an airy, lazy, wonderful vacation. Maybe it will be the bC afterall.

I am a huge fan of the BC and BCV. One difference that has not been mentioned is that in the BC you will get daily maid service. We are DVC members, so stay at the BCV as often as we can. I really enjoy the atmosphere at the BC resort.

It is very close to Epcot, so that is ideal.

if you get your room at BCV through Disney (as opposed to renting points or being a DVC member) you also get daily maid service.

I would defnitely say YC. The main problem with the BC is that even though the rack rates are exactly the same as the YC and you share all the resort features with the YC (they are connected so there is nothing at the BC that you can't access from the YC with a little longer walk) except at the BC you do run the risk of getting a room with two double beds (the only rooms like that in the Deluxe category) and unlike the YC, you aren't guaranteed a full balcony. Also, because of the positioning of each hotel, there are fewer parking lot standard view rooms in the YC than the BC and the water view rooms are generally better at the YC (there are some bad water view rooms there that would be worse than the average water view at the BC, but your chances are better for a good view at the YC). Some might argue that the YC is less relaxed and the color scheme is nicer at the BC, but the difference is so slight that unless you really cannot stand blue and white as the main color scheme it's not enough to make the BC worth it. The only other advantage the BC has is that it is marginally closer to Epcot.

The only reason I would ever consider staying at the BC over the YC is if I really wanted to stay in that complex and there was some room discount code that was only available at the BC. If you are paying less than the YC it is worth the risk because you could end up with the same room for less money. For the same price, however, it makes no sense.
