To be honest, though somewhat embarrassing, I as well as my DH are just not real fond of "fancy" food. I guess it is our southern roots. My question is, are there foods on the menu that would be pleasing to a "simple" palate? Could we order the Filet "plain" DH does enjoy seafood so I am sure he can find something pleasing, But I can't seem to enjoy the taste of fish, unless it is coated, I do like baked Talipa. Do you think Dinner or Brunch would be better for us? How about High Tea....I CAN DO FANCY DESERTS !!!;)

TIA

I have never een but a dying to get there. I too enjoy simple things b ut als like made to order omelets and the oh so sweet deserts. I would absolutely recommend it. Nothing to lose but a flat belly. :lmao:

No . . . you won't like it there.

You will LOVE it there! :)

You say that you like simple foods. There are enough "basic" kinds of foods there as well as some fancy-schmancy stuff. But, I think you will enjoy the experience a lot. And the desserts are to die for!!!

Thanks for the input!! I just wasn't sure if we would "enjoy" the food, the pictures I have seen look so extravagant. I would love to have a nice dinner with just DH, or brunch. Anymore opinions will be greatly appreciated. Thank you again for your responses:)

I'd vote for brunch, that way you can have LOTS of the things you do like, you can taste bits of something new and there are tons of desserts.

My biggest surprise food at Palo brunch was the grape and goat cheese pizza (NEVER would have ordered that in a million years) and the 'sweet' pizza. Both very yummy. We had a table of six people, so we split some of the items you order from the kitchen during brunch. What did I take the most of??? Bacon wrapped scallops!!!

Plus, during lunch you have the beautiful view!

The filet at dinner is wonderful - and is or can be done just as a "non-fancy" dish. I had the lamb one time, too, and that was great. The chocolate souffle is.......lots of chocoate, albeit it fluffs up and then has vanilla sauce poured in! I would just advise your server that you prefer relatively straight up foods and they will more than accommodate!

You asked the question that has been on my mind for 2 years !!! It is so funny because I read the menus and I think can I just get steak and baked potato? :rotfl2:

What a cute post. I haven't been on a cruise yet and can't advise you. First cruise in April/May but heck I can fake it! ;)

We recently took my parents on a cruise to celebrate their 50th anniversary. They sound similiar to you. Every night on the cruise they had either a steak or chicken dish. (I think my Dad really wanted some country style steak and gravy from Cracker Barrel.)

They LOVED Palo's. Even tried to go back after we ate dinner there and get reservations for another night. Just don't be afraid to be adventurous. My Dad still talks about how good the grape and goat cheese pizza was. (And I do too, for that matter.)

Thanks again for all your advice. It took alot to post up because I am kinda of embarrassed that I have such a "simple" palate. I just didn't want to try to get Ressies and drag DH to Palo if we really wouldn't enjoy it. I am up for trying new foods and will definitely ask the server for his favorite "simple" suggestions:rotfl:

Thanks again!!!!

I agree with trying to be adventurous! There may not be a lot of opportunity to experience this kind of food...

Having said that, Disney, in general, Palo's and everywhere else, is excellent at preparing food and making changes, etc. to your needs! If you want a steak without sauces, or certain ingredients, just request it....

The desserts are to die for! Our server brought out one of each on top of what we all ordered for us to all sample! They were, of course...amazing!!! :thumbsup2

Palo is just food.

Food like you had today and will have tommorow....the thing about food is that people get so hung up on it (food is a very emotional thing for a lot of people). In 6 hours, people are going to eat again anyway, so fa-getta-about-it.

The thing is, at Palo they just prepare your food with more care then you might have had people use on your meals in the past.

The result of that is "things that are flavored with something other than salt".

It's a really wonderful experience to have a skilled craftsperson make a meal for you.

Take a chance....The added fee is pretty small and if you don't like it, when you leave, there are still a couple of other places to grab a snack.

But try to do both...dinner and brunch....each is unique.

Chris

Thank you Chris. It is definitely not the COST LOL, I am more than willing to try new foods, I just am not found of seafood or heavy sauces, and although the presentation is lovely for most, I look at the food on the plate and feel it should be displayed as art and not eaten ( I have great respect for tose with such culinary talent) :goodvibes I also HATE to waste food and would feel horrible if they brought out several dishes and they were not eaten. Thanks again for the tips. I think we will definitely book brunch.

So the last time we there, there was not a single entree that even remotely appealed to me. But, the wood fired pizzas they use as appetizers are AWESOME. So, I ordered a pizza app, another pizza for my entree and then soufle for dessert. A fabulous evening and great food for THIS not so adventurous eater.

We absolutely adore Palo! We like brunch slightly better than dinner. I really enjoyed tea, but it's something you that is best enjoyed with company. The scones and clotted cream are de-lish! For brunch and dinner you can get their pizzas. Pick one and share it. It's italian so I'd find the pasta dishes are more to my liking. The chocolate souffle is a little over-rated in our opinion. It's good, but we enjoyed another dessert on the menu.....your server may tell you about it. Want a hint? It's served with fresh berries and is made of cheese. Are you licking your chops yet?

I vote brunch too! Trust me on this, you can't be any more plain then me when it comes to food! I don't do "fancy" very well at all! But I've never had a better pepperoni pizza in my life! Lots of sliced meats, crackers, cheeses, peppers, breads etc. The filet of beef was awesome too! Nothing fancy about it, just a very tasty piece of meat. Order a few things and split them so you can try more things without getting to full to enjoy ALL the tasty desserts!:thumbsup2 Can't wait to go back to Palo! And boy do I have a wait!:sad1:

ohhhhhhhhhhh....it was the first one I've ever had and it is soooooo good (something else I never would have ordered on my own). Are we keeping it a secret? Shall we taunt them a little longer?

I would've taken a picture of it, but we always seem so distracted and completely forget to take the picture BEFORE eating it! Oh, well. We'll see if we do any better next time. ;)

Talking about all this is going to make me want to book a cruise. I knew I shouldn't have ventured over here. It's almost too much for me to take. :faint:

Hey, I'm glad you posted this question. I'm a very picky, non-adventurous eater (sad to say), but I'm really looking forward to trying out Palo. Generally at a fancy restaurant, I can get away with ordering a filet mignon without sauce, and it's pretty safe. I may not eat much else, but at least I'll have plenty of room for desert! :woohoo:

DH and I are also simple eaters, but we LOVED brunch at Palo. The buffet items were to die for! Many items were very simple, and a few were more interesting (which we did try and liked verymuch). The kitchen items ranged from basic to elaborate, and our server mentioned that we could alter them for our tastes. You can also order half orders. DH and I did that for a few things. The pizza was incredible! There was a whole table of deserts--yummy!
