okay…..here’s the lowdown. i’m a 30-year-old court reporter who’s happily married to DH (ray), a 35-year-old computer technician. i’ve been to WDW three times before, when i was 8, 11 and 15. i’ve been DYING to go back ever since, but due to things like college, being broke and just life in general getting in the way, i’m just now getting around to doing it. DH has been numerous times before, but all in or before the early ‘80’s. so obviously it’s been a long time coming for both of us…..too long!

last spring DH and i were discussing where to go for our 5-year wedding anniversary and i mentioned disney. his exact words were, “book it.” your wish is my command! pixiedust: :woohoo: :yay: :woohoo:

our anniversary is april 13th, but we decided to wait until may because I didn’t want to take the chance of being there during any spring break crowds. the “book it” conversation was in may 2006 and i had to wait until august to book the trip since the rates for may 2007 didn’t come out until then. it seems like those 3 months were more like 3 years!!! :hourglass

anyway, on to the cast:

Picture014.jpg

DH – the love of my life for the past 13 years. we’ve been dating since 1993, my senior year in high school. we’ve been married for 5 years and it’s been absolutely great the whole way! (yeah, i know, gag!!!) DH loves star wars :darth: (i CANNOT believe they changed SWW at MGM to june this year!!!!! we’re going to miss it! :guilty: ) and anything electronic. he’s a true dork, but a dork of the handsome persuasion IMO! he owns a huge collection of gundams, which are like really expensive japanese transformer models. one of the main reasons i love him is because he’s like a 35-year-old kid….well, that and he’s an EXCELLENT cook! he’s not into disney like me, but is definitely looking forward to the trip and i have a feeling we’ll be back soon after he sees how great a well-planned WDW vacation can be!!!! but i have promised him we will go to yellowstone national park on our next major vacation. don’t know how much fun that will be, but he’s letting me do the disney thing, so I guess it’s only fair!!

me – i love anything disney :earboy2: (as I already told you). i own a huge assortment of disney movies and i watch them on a regular basis, my favorites being peter pan, alice in wonderland, lady & the tramp, aladdin and beauty and the beast. my one requirement before even DISCUSSING having kids was that DH and i go to WDW on our own without kids. may not make a lot of sense to some of you, but i don’t make sense to a lot of people!

okay…here are the trip details, just FYI.

we’re staying at pop century. i would’ve loved to stay at one of the nicer resorts (the poly being my dream hotel), but i figured we’d rather have more spending money instead of spending it on the hotel. i don’t think we’re going to be spending much time there anyway. plus it’s a disney hotel…and “value” by disney standards is not really “real world” value!

we got a 4-day park hopper ticket with the water park fun ‘n more option (although we’re not planning on visiting the water parks, but i wanted that option for the DTD stuff). we’re also on the DDP.

here’s what we’ve planned so far:

saturday, may 5: leave georgia! :hyper: we’re planning on dropping off the “kids” (our two beagles, sherman and eli) at DH’s mom’s house late saturday afternoon (i will miss my babies so! :sad1:), hitting the road and stopping somewhere about an hour north of orlando to spend the night. don’t know where yet and i’m not making reservations…we’re just gonna wing it!

sunday, may 6: get up early (early is like 8:00 a.m. for us!) and head to WDW :drive: . we’re going to eat lunch at the pop food court after we check in, then head to MGM (hopefully by noonish). we have a 6:30 ADR at sci-fi dine-in theatre. i’m still trying to convince myself to ride ToT, the *only* ride at WDW i’m worried about. MK has extra magic hours that night, so i’m thinking we’ll head over there after fantasmic.

monday, may 7: epcot until late afternoon. we have a 12:00 ADR at le cellier. and yes, we will be doing the “drinking around the world” thing. :drinking1 but don’t be disappointed if we don’t get something from *every* country. i don’t want to overdo it and then be miserable the rest of the day! we’ll probably leave epcot around 5:00 or 6:00 and then go back to pop, freshen up and head to DTD that night. we’re planning on eating at wolfgang puck express and going to PI.

tuesday, may 8: animal kingdom until closing (6:00). i want to try to go by AKL at some point that day, too, just to check it out. i’m thinking we’ll probably eat lunch at flame tree or pizzafari, depending on our mood. i know….everyone’s going to recommend tusker house to us. but i’m not a big fan of chicken on a bone. it grosses me out :crazy2: . so I don’t think tusker house is a good idea for me. we’re then heading back to pop to freshen up and we have a 8:10 ADR at narcoosee’s. can’t wait to see wishes from there! after dinner we might head over to the boardwalk for awhile.

wednesday, may 9: magic kingdom all day. for lunch it will probably come down to casey’s, pecos bills or pinnochio’s village haus, depending on our mood and where we’re at when we get hungry! we have a 5:30 ADR at kona café, so we’re going to hop on the monorail for that and then come back to MK til closing.

thursday, may 10: leave WDW. how heartbreaking! i’ll live, though. we’re going to head over to cape canaveral and go to kennedy space center that day (DH’s reward for 4 days of disney!), then stay at a bed and breakfast that night.

friday, may 11: drive home to georgia and come back to reality. :sad2:

by the way, i’ve got my crocs bought and broken in (although they’re not lime green…just couldn’t bring myself to buy those!) and i’ve already cut out my lime green mickey heads from the home depot paint sample department. so if you’re going to be at WDW when we are, look for DH carrying a bookbag with a green mickey head pinned to it! i’ll be focker watching!!!!!! ::yes::

that’s it for now. i feel those are all the details anyone would be interested in anyway! most likely i won’t be posting any updates (other than just your regular DIS hellos, welcome to my TR, thank you for reading, etc.) until we get back unless we have a change in plans.

thanks in advance for reading! :flower3:

DisneyJo - hey, fellow peep! thanks for reading. :)

nts4wdw & tinawv - hello and nice to "meet" you guys!

i will try my best to get my TR finished very soon after we return. i just wish i didn't have so long to wait until we leave!!! but i guess a little over a month isn't too bad. april is going to go....so.....slow!

Great start to:thumbsup2 I just cant get enough of these pre trip/trip reports.

We are going back again in Mid June with the 3 kids, I cant wait:cool1:
Looking forward to reading more.

so far, so good. We love the POP! Like you said, we're not there that much and Disney's version of "value" still can't compare to lots of other places! Have a great trip!

Great start for your 1st trippie! :thumbsup2 I'm bummed that I'm gonna have to wait til MAY to read about it!

Hope you have a fantastic trip! BTW, I went to Kennedy Space Center a couple years ago - it was actually pretty interesting.

cool. my best friend from high school is going in mid june. she's having a conference for work in orlando and they're selling them discount tickets, so she had to take advantage of it. i hope it's not too terribly hot when you guys go!

exactly! when i say we're staying at a value hotel, i always say, "but it's a *disney* value hotel, so it's really not value, value" does that make any sense??

anyway, thanks for reading!

you and me both! it feels like i've been waiting for years to go on this trip!

yeah, i couldn't deny DH the opportunity to go there. he wants to drive down there to see a launch sometime, too, before they do away with them. he's such a nerd! :)

thanks! i got that from another TR i read awhile back. the poster had edited her first post as she added installments, so it made it very easy for people who just wanted to read the actual report instead of having to look for it between the other comments.

and thanks about the pic. that was our wedding day (obviousy) about 5 years ago. he looks the same, but i'm not that skinny anymore! :scared:

TOTALLY makes sense to me!!!!:)

What a great way to celebrate an anniversary. I wish you guys the best. My family stayed at Pop last April the beds were tiny but I liked the whole resort over all, my reasons to stay at a value resort were the same as yours, more money for spending at the parks.
