Where to eat upon arrival - BWV Sun 3pm?

We're arriving on a Sunday (Apr22) at 3pm and staying at BWV. I'd like to eat at a counter service restaurant rather than table service (don't want to risk missing a reservation due to plane delay or something). Is there a good place to get a burger, sandwich, etc. on the Boardwalk? Or should we go to Beach Club area? We're probably going to go to MGM that afternoon/ evening. Should we wait and eat there? Suggestions?

Thanks!

In the afternoon, on the boardwalk you could go to ESPN club. It is table service, but you don't have to worry about reservations and I think you should be able to get in without a wait at that time. There is also another restaurant called Big River Grill (or something like that) that is a sit down that you should be able to get into at that time. If you want take out you can go to the Boardwalk Bakery. They have a limited sandwich selection. ALso there is a takeout pizza window at Spoodles...or there's always room service. I'd just see what kind of mood you're in when you arrive. MGM is a just a walk or boat ride away, so CS there is also a good option. Have fun! When we stayed at BWI in July, we went to ESPN club when we got in around noon and it was empty.

Thanks for the good suggestions. It puts my mind at ease to know that we won't need reservatoins at ESPN or Big River if we feel like trying them. Just don't know if I want to waste a TS there! But I like your idea of seeing how we feel. One less thing for me to worry about!

Are you on the DDP? If so check to make sure those restaurants are included! We were paying OOP. YOu could use the counter service at Boardwalk Bakery.

Yes, we are on the DDP, and I think those restaurants are included. I checked out the BW bakery menu and it is pretty limited. We'll see what we're up for. Thanks :)

If you're going to MGM, you could always stop first at the BC Marketplace - they have great sandwiches and salads (but limited desserts on the DDP).

We stay at the BWV often and unfortunately there are not alot of fast food CS options there. You could check the places at the pool to see if they still sell CS meals. Beach and Cream use to have a takeout place that sells burgers but it only sells ice cream now. If you have a car, you could always drive over to Pop Century and grab a meal in their food court. All of their meals are considered CS selection and you really get a decent meal for the price, plus great deserts. If you don't have a car...yikes...no suggestions here.

We stayed at the BWV and ate at the Boardwalk Bakery. They have 4 sandwiches and salad to choose from and they were very good. I had a roast beef sandwich and it was quite large. They also let you have any of the bakery items there which wasn't the case at the Beach Club. When we stayed at the Beach Club we got a sandwich (which was about the same as the Boardwalk Bakery) but they wouldn't let you pick any dessert. You had to pick out of 3 choices and they were not the good desserts. I thought the Boardwalk Bakery was a good choice for a CS. The desserts there were awesome!

In addition to the BW Bakery for sandwiches, the Beach Club has a very nice store that sells sandwiches, salads, bakery goods and excellent gelato. You can take it outside to tables on a covered patio just outside the store. That might be a nice choice if you have time. :)

The day we fly in, we generally have lunch at ESPN. (Our DVC home is BW)

Its become a tradition to get the big hot dog!!!

If you don't want to waste a TS on a lunch, I'd pay out of pocket. I think I'd rather save my TS credits for a $25 dollar steak!

Oh, I forgot about the cart at the BW... They have corn dogs and chili fries...Its pretty good. They don't take the DDP anymore, I believe. But again, I'd rather save my TS for the good stuff!

Lots of great suggestions. Thanks! The Boardwalk Bakery and ESPN are looking like favorites. We'll have to see how we feel when we get there -- and decide CS vs. TS. But I have to say those BW Bakery desserts are making my mouth water. I've got a sweet tooth!

I think you can also get a slice of pizza and drink at Spoodles take out window-(someone please correct me if I'm wrong about this ;) )

And I think a dessert is included too.

I definatly would go to Beaches and Cream. There food is great and there sundaes are to die for.

BWV 1-BR 4-12 to 20th.
BCV Studio 9-28 to 10-5 FW - MNSSHP
BWV 1-BR 12-8 to 12-14 CP - MVMCP

That's exactly when/where DS and DDIL are arriving. I suggested Yacht Club Galley also because they often don't need ADRs. Or I'm real fond of the BC Marketplace in the BC for CS. Another possibility is to enter Epcot from the IG for Fish and Chips in UK, or go to Boulangerie Pastrie.

If you really want great desserts you will have to go to the Patisserie at Epcot. They have the best and the prices are very reasonable. IMHO, they are better than the ones at BW Bakery with a much better selection. :goodvibes

Just an FYI...Spoodles pizza window is no longer participating in the dining plan.

I just wanted to say we will be arriving at the BWV the same day, alittle earlier!
I was also looking for a good CS place for lunch before we had our dinner at the Concourse Steak house. I think we will either try the BC Marketplace or grab something from Hurricane Hannah's. I believe they still accept the DDP and the kids will like the burgers for lunch. We love staying at the BW but the lack of CS there is a real problem. I really wish they would do something about this!!
