Okay I'm planning a trip for September. If I book a room only now so that I can make ADRs on March 14th do I lose my ADRs if I change the room only to a package later?

Nope! :)

Last year we had a room only with a AAA discount that I switched to a package from WDWTC and my ADRs stayed intact. I had actually asked the CM before I made the change. Ater I changed to the package, I called dining to make sure, lol.

You don't even have to link your dining reservations to anything other than your home phone number and name if you don't want to (course you wouldn't qualify for the 180 plus 10 but that may not matter - it never does to us). If you link it to your hotel reservation, it still won't matter =)

You're safe either way! Enjoy planning!

Anyone can make adr's at 180 days so you don't need a room reservation. You can't do the 10 days in a row but you can make them a day at a time.

If you have multiple ADR'S, do they ever cancel them thinking there is no way you'd be at Crystal Palace at breakfast at 9am and then at say Coral Reef at Noon? Just wondering, because I was planning on having ADR's for plan A park, and plan B park, and then cancelling that day, when we figured out which park we'd be doing for the day.

They have cracked down on the double-booking of ADR's and will cancel them. I don't know if the scenario you gave is a close enough time-frame for them to cancel it or not.

I have heard about them cracking down, and I truly understand, it's just gonna be hard to get 2 15 yo, 2 11 yo, an 3 yo and my DH to commit to everything so far in advance! I am thinking that a way around it would be to book breakfast at one place, luch or dinner at another. We usually only eat at one sit down a day anyway. (I don't have 5 kids, just two boys with great friends)

This is not looked kindly upon, especially on these boards. There are tons of people trying to make reservations, and it isn't fair that you take up spots that you don't intend on using. (especially at the really popular places)

I know it seems hard to plan that far ahead, but it is do-able!
If you just set your plans, it isn't that hard to stick to it.
We had to cancel one last year at Chef Mickeys because the Shuttle Launch changed days, and I felt sooooo bad feeling that another family could have had that spot if I only would have known sooner.
