Anyone know if that ride is going to actually be made & where? We saw it on the little mermaid cd & the kids got so excited..it looks like it would be a great ride but I haven't seen anything about it..

It was a concept for a ride. I would assume that it's not going to get made anytime soon. However, the concept is out there and the reaction has been good to the dvd ride-through. Anything's possible, but don't hold your breath.

I'm not sure what you are talking about.. can someone fill me in?

On the new Little Mermaid DVD, there is a bonus feature that describes a ride that Imagineers had developed based on the movie. It's basically storyboards that they have pieced together to best describe what the ride would've been like.

Oooh, that's exciting! How did they describe the ride? The Little Mermaid is one of my favorites.

I've always wanted them to do a Little Mermaid ride and when I watched the bonus feature on what the ride would be like, it made me want the ride even more! It could go over by Ariel's Grotto?

they don't describe it they show the ride thru a animated concept of it. It would be a nice addition to MGM or perhaps even DAK near the new nemo show.

It did look like it could be a great new dark ride. The effect of being under the water at one point, and then seeing the same scene from above water could be really cool.

However, I would be shocked if it were ever actually built stateside without significant cuts to the show elements. Look at what happened with Pooh. Maybe overseas if somebody else will pay for it.

It doesn't really fit at AK, but then again, neither does Nemo or Tarzan.

It would be a perfect fit in Fantasyland, and would fit well enough at MGM, since that park is apparently about anything remotely associated with a movie, TV show or rock band in some way, shape or form.

I know I probably need to don my flame suit on this one - but Snow White's Scary Adventures really could go. Last I checked, Snow White wasn't a very hot selling DVD and ever since they killed Toad for Pooh, I guess some of the "sacred" rides in Fantasyland are fair game. A Mermaid ride here would be a great addition, and it would be enjoyed and appreciated by the folks who were intended to be the star fans of Fantasyland.

B/C Tarzan has NOTHING to do with the theme of Animal Kingdom.

Last time I checked Tarzan was about man's encroachment into the wild, it took place in a rainforest and had a ton of animals. It has as much to do with DAK as Lion King, Pocohontas, or Nemo

Fair enough, but that's not what Tarzan Rocks was about.

Ah, when I read your first comment about Tarzan not belonging in AK I had the same reaction as MJMcBride. I thought you were talking about Tarzan in general, not the specific (thankfully extinct) attraction.

I love music - especially live music - but I agree that a pop concert was not a good fit.

I think Fantasyland would be the best match. I don't think we'll see it happen though.

and would fit well enough at MGM, since that park is apparently about anything remotely associated with a movie, TV show or rock band in some way, shape or form.

I think you left out one thing: MGM is the home of purchased/licensed franchises - Muppets, Power Rangers, Star Wars, Twilight Zone - that other people came up with. So in that sense, I don't think a Disney classic fits as well as something like the Wiggles.

Lil Mermaid is coming to Broadway NYC this Fall..

maybe they are waiting to see how it does and then who knows!!

maybe a ride or a show will prevail.

B&B on broadway(closing this summer) has it's own show in MGM
as well as Lion King show in AK , which is also on Broadway

I would love to see this as a ride in WDW. We watched this about 10 times in a row and my husband who is not a big fan like me said wow that is a great ride I am really looking foward to going this year. We were there in December and he didn't remember seeing or the other 4 times we were there. But I just kept my mouth shut and said yeah cool , I didn't want to ruin the moment of him being excited to go...hehehe

I usually hang out at the weddings board, but I came over here to see if there was info on the new Mermaid broadway.

If you have ever ridden Nemo, you can see the concepts were most likely taken from the original mermaid ride concept - the 'clammobiles' and the ripples to make it look like you are underwater. Very similar and I think that now because they have nemo opened & built, mermaid may be Ariel's ride may be shelved. I would absolutely love to see it built somewhere though - maybe in Disney Toyko where they have Disney Sea?
