Characters

I had Minnie & Mickey. It just wouldn't have felt right without them. My guests just loved it.

We had Mickey & Minnie and everyone loved it. They are alot of fun and add a special touch to your special day.

We had initially planned to have Mickey and Minnie, but within the last month and a half cancelled them.

It was the right decision for us. We didn't have children at the wedding, I was nervous that I was going to feel flustered and rushed around at the cake
cutting (to get rid of the champagne before they came), and the cost of them will cover 3/4 of the cost for us to go back to Disney for an entire vacation.

We had Mickey and Minnie and we LOVED them!! It was a perfect addition to our day - we only had a few kids but the adults loved it just as much! People are still taking about how they "popped in" lol!

We loved Mickey and Minnie-- although they werent there the full 30 minutes we paid for:sad2:

First of all, I have to say that I love everyone's pictures with the characters :goodvibes We didn't have characters. In fact, we had a very "non-Disney" Disney wedding! It was perfect for us and shows the diversity of what Disney can do for each individual couple. Really the only things "Disney" were our chocolate favors (bridal Mickey & Minnie) and the violinist who played Disney songs for the guests before the ceremony and at the cake cutting. I love how Disney makes each wedding special and as Disney or non-Disney as the couple wants it to be.

Why did you have to get rid of the champagne before the characters came?

you have to get your champagne toast over with before they come-- and I cannot tell you why, because I dont know. We cut the cake with Mickey & Minnie.. and we could still sip on the drinks around them-- so i dont know. Maybe they dont want that spilled on them? Which wouldnt make too since because they are there when you are throwing the cake on one another..?

Disney has a rule about the characters not being seen with/near alcohol, I guess so that you won't have people posting pix of Goofy knocking back a 40 on the Internet or something....

Hmmm..... How bizarre!

Another thing I should ask is about this cake throwing custom. We don't have it in England - what do you do, and why? I'm sorry I have no clue, but it looks like fun. We cut the cake together here, but that is all. Most brides and grooms here hardly ever get to taste their own cake!

Ahhh, gotcha. That would be rather funny. Boozy Goofy. Ha ha. Do weddings have to hide all of the Champagne bottles for the photos too, then?

NO NO NO... No hiding Champagne

Our chapagne was the focus in a lot of our photos...

About the cake throwing-- i think its just something people do. I have no explanation for it other than the person hopes you will feed it to one another gently.... and usually... someone ends up ruining that and throws it on the others face-- getting them pretty messy. Its makes for a couple giggles and good memories..

Aaahhhh.... I was wondering if it was some American custom - it does look like alot of fun!

I'm glad about the champagne - I'd feel like a teenager trying to hide bottles otherwise!

The rule about the characters can be interpretted as: they cannot be photographed around anyone in the act of drinking alcohol beverages. For example, I was in Epcot with a huge group of friends DATW; we ran into Aladdin in Morocco and just had to get a picture. His handler just asked us all to put down our drinks somewhere out of the picture, even the people with sodas and water. If you are holding the glass, the photo could be miscontrued as you drinking with the character.

This rule also applied at my wedding reception. They can be in the same place with the beverage, just not near any situations where it would appear they drank and/or condoned others drinking.

Awww Mickey and Minnie must be so much fun to have at your wedding....:cool1:

We had Mickey and Minnie as well. At first we were considering something else, because we wanted to be different, and DH loves Chip & Dale, but in the end we are very glad we went with Mickey and Minnie. Do not let a lack of children prevent you from getting the characters. We only had 3 children under 18, and all the adults loved them. Even people who had never been to Disney, didn't care to visit the parks, and didn't "get" the idea of a Disney wedding were excited.

Also, I would have to recommend keeping it a secret, if you can. I think if people had been expecting it, it wouldn't have gone over as well as it did.

Did you have charaters at the wedding? If so, what characters?

Having characters at an event is a personal decision. Some folks want them, and some folks don’t. It’s up to you to decide what's right for your event.

As for my custom vow renewal, I had the following cast of characters:

Hollywood Movie Producer (click here)
Gun Moll (click here)
Gangster (click here)
Cowboy (click here)
Cowgirl (click here)
Glinda, the Good Witch (click here)
Sorcerer Mickey (click here)

I had so many characters because my event was a progressive dinner party that was held inside the Disney-MGM Studios Theme Park. The Hollywood Movie Producer Streetmosphere Character provided a sense of continuity throughout the entire event since he greeted my guests backstage at our private motor coach (click here). He then personally drove my husband and I (click here) to the Handprint Ceremony (click here) that was held in the courtyard of the Great Movie Ride. After the ceremony had ended, he led everyone inside the Great Movie Ride attraction. Our first stop was a cocktail party that was held inside the Gangster Venue. We were greeted there by a Gangster and his Gun Moll who entertained while a Honky-Tonk Pianist (click here) played background music. Once the cocktail party had ended, the Hollywood Movie Producer reappeared and led everyone into the Western Venue. We were greeted there by a Cowboy and Cowgirl who entertained while a Country & Western Band (click here) played. Once the dinner party had ended, the Hollywood Movie Producer reappeared and led everyone into the Land of Oz Venue. We were greeted there by Glinda the Good Witch. She entertained while everyone enjoyed their dessert (click here). Once the dessert party had ended, the Hollywood Movie Producer reappeared and led everyone outdoors to the Sorcerer's Hat Icon (click here). There we were greeted by Mickey Mouse who was dressed as the Sorcerer’s Apprentice. Mickey Mouse posed for photographs (click here) and then began the dance party. He even taught me how to do the Electric Slide (click here) since I had never done it before. Once our dance party was in full-swing, Mickey Mouse left us in the hands of our DJ who spun tunes while my guests danced (click here) beneath the stars. It was an incredible party (click here), thanks to all the wonderful Streetmosphere Characters.

Since my party was slightly unique, it required a cast of characters. Most parties aren’t like that. You need to determine what's right for your event. That might mean having no characters, having one character, or having multiple characters. Have fun planning.

rebecca is right. a few of my guests got told to put their drinks down in the pictures with the characters as well.

We had Mickey and minnie and my favorite little blue terror STITCH. I have to say that Stitch was the hit of the party - when he entered it was as if a rock star cam ein!
