Leaving things in strollers while on rides?

I was just wondering if anyone has had any problems with leavings diaper bag, etc in the stollers while on rides? We are traveling with an almost 3 year old and twin 21 month olds, so trying to carry a bag on a ride while holding twins is a bit difficult. The twins were premeies, so they are a little behind there age so one is still not walking. Hoping he will be walking by then!!! Anyway, we will be taking a back pack diaper bag and small soft sided cooler and wan to leav it in the stroller. Any info would be great.

We've always left our diaper bag, cooler and once even our video camera (by mistake -- we forgot) and it has always been safe. I wouldn't recommend leaving anything too valuable, like the video camera or a purse, but we have never had a problem.

We've left camcorders, cameras, wallets, watches, hotel room keys, and probably a whole lot more in the stroller as we rode rides. We have had absolutely no problem in the 13 plus times we have gone. We do, however, make it challenging for someone who was interested in "rifling" through the stroller. Wallets and the like are stored in a waterproof camp bag inside the Sidekick cooler (full of ice and cold drinks). The camcorder is in a shoulder bag, the camera is in one of the storage compartments of the stroller (usually), the room keys, watches, or what ever are usually stored in another shoulder bag. In general, people seem very honest and the CMs do seem to monitor, casually, the stroller parking areas. I have never heard of thefts from strollers!

I work in the stroller area and do hear of things being taken from the strollers. It doesn't happen very often, but it does happen. I think that people just want the stroller, or grab the wrong one by mistake. But I won't leave anything valuable inside the strollers.

Thanks for the replies, I will just be leaving diapers and snacks in the stroller. I will however, make sure to mark my stoller with a bandana and a name tag.

....'cuz we're 'gonna be pushing a Mardi Gras stroller! We are decorating the stroller with lots of things tied around it, especially lots of metallic ribbon/wire & a "princess wand" for our DD. And, on the front, we have her personalized mini license plate on the bar. I know, it may not completely ward off thieves, but I wanted to make it a litle harder on them, because it would take a while to get everything taken off of the stroller! :p

Yep, we'll be looking like the Griswolds.... :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

...only 9 days to go...am I going to make it???

...sorry for the double post!!!

I really don't know if I'm gonna make it or not...I'm slowly losing it! :p

I would not leave anything SUPER DUPER valuable in an unattended like say a pacifier, favorite blankie, or any other favorite 'lovey' toy.

Could you imagine trying to get the little ones to sleep in a strange room, in a strange plave, after being over stimulated all day and all night without their favorite comfort toy...YIKES!!!

Disneyfan551,

Your post is craking my up!! I am decorating my stoller too. I figure that it would take somone time to get rid of the fancy art work on the stroller.

Also, good idea not to leave anything like a binky or fav blankie in the stroller, that will get left in the room. I don't want to take a chance on loosing stuff like that. The binkies my kids use are direct from the hospital NICU and cannot be bought in the store. They would go balistic is we lost them.

Thanks for the great replies!!

We were just at MK in March and had a small waist pack stolen from our stroller. No, it was not mistakenly taken, someone took it out of a plastic bag that was sitting inside the stroller on the seat. It was a small black waistpack and contained only the treasures of my 3 yr old, like his crayons. It did have a magic moments game in it that the cast member at the stroller area gave us a coupon to replace. The bottom line is that yes there are people entering the parks with the intent to steal from you.

We've never had anything taken from our stroller in five trips but I have heard stories of the stroller and all contents being taken as well as diaper bags, etc.

We leave the diaper bag in the bottom compartment. However, there are no valuables and simple diaper stuff, food and a spare set of clothes. We both wear a fanny pack with the camera, room key and valuables. What we do, though, when possible is that if there is a wall area where the stroller are we turn the seat of the stroller toward the crowd. That way they have to really work to pull anything out of the back. This works great at places like the muppets in MGM. We also lock ALL wheels -- CMs moving strollers have that figured out so it isn't a problem.

One thing that has been suggested is to take a clear ziploc bag, put a burp rag in it and pour rootbeer over it. Then put it with your other stuff or tie it to your stroller handle. Guess what most think it is. And, even fewer people really want to touch it. I haven't tried it but others on the board have said it worked great. Even deterred some CMs.

... that it wouldn't surprise me if CM's see at least 50 strollers a day w/ that kind of decoration. By now, I'm sure any thief worth his salt is onto that one. I use a cluster of metallic gift ribbon myself; it's easy to spot because it glints in the sun, and it is hard to remove without scissors.

I have a Maclaren, and I lock it, but I don't lock the wheels, because that is so much trouble to do that I find I don't do it after awhile. What I do now is put a padlock across the one of the fold joints on the back, so it can't be folded. That way, I only have to lock it once per park. I figure that unless someone is REALLY serious about stroller stealing, they are not too likely to have a bolt cutter in the car, so they would probably abandon it in the parking lot when they discover it won't fold.

BTW, I just found a great new lock for my stroller... It is a combination lock that looks like a large carabiner, about 4 inches on the long side. The lock is on the spring latch on the short side. This means that the open area that the lock with fit around is MUCH larger than on a normal padlock. It's light and can be seen easily, and it easily fits around the stroller bars, much better than my old lock, which only fit in one specific spot. It's called a Gear.Lok, by Abstrac Products, it was $5 @ KMart.

I am really surprised with the reports of theivery at WDW!!!! You can rest assured knowing WE will not leave anything in the stroller again...

We must have been fortunate! 13+ times no incident!! Next trip in October - no valuables will be taken if they cannot be left in stroller...

We, too, have used waist packs; I guess we will need to purchase larger ones...

Very good info from everyone!!

We had a snap on bag (from One Step Ahead) that hooks to the handle of the stroller. We left it on. We carried our backpack with cameras, camcorders, etc. However, I even left that a few times and NEVER had a proplem.

I saw several children running from stroller to stroller sipping at all the cups sitting there YUCK!
And of course my ultra-paranoid mind figures if theres anyone looking for "fun" - they could simply put something foul-tasting/gross/dangerous in your very accessible drink cup and watch when you return and casually sip from your tainted drink.

ACK!! Who leaves drinks anyways?!? I am really debating over bringing our nice stroller vs buying a cheap umbrella one. What do you all think? Our nice one has three drink holders and a huge carrying bag underneath, but I dont want it stollen!

We've not had ours stolen on any of our trips. I think typically it is the things left in the stroller that get stolen. That being said, I have read posts here that say that the stroller was taken. Usually though it was a VERY expensive one or they left something in it and they found the stroller later.

While we don't leave drinks on it when we go on rides, we do enjoy it for holding our drinks and the space under it is VERY nice -- especially when shopping. We never used the cheap umbrella ones because they don't recline and our son still will nap in the stroller. Probably not by next trip but ... so far.

Just wanted to let you know that I bought a cheap ($30) umbrella stroller that DOES recline, with a decent size basket, child tray, etc... Can't remember the name, but it is black & red and I bought it at Babies R Us. It is cheaper than renting a strolller while at WDW, and you can always sell it or use it again for the next trip! :D

..only 2 days to go...stroller has been wrapped from "head to toe" in metallic purple star ribbon, and is quite cute!!! Will drill her personalized "license plate" into the child tray today @ work!

We've never had anything stolen either so far, thankfully.

We start off by only leaving what is not valuable like a blanket or coat or diaper bag but then sometime towards the end of our vacation, we get lazy or whatever and leave valuable things in there but covered up like our camera etc...I know we shouldn't but we do sometimes.

Most of the time things of value are in our backpack and we grab it and run to a ride.
