Hello Everyone,

Well my wife and I have decided that DVC is for us... I am calling them in the morning!! :cool1: :cool1: :yay: :yay: I plan on an initial purchase of 200 SSR points, however, I am unsure how I should set it up. For example, would I be better served with (2) @100 points each or (1) for the full allotment? And if I do end up with two smaller ones, should the UY be the same?? Any and all advice is appreciated.

Someone else will soon help out -

I believe the first/initial contract must be 150 points - you can then do the additional 50.

Yes, the user year will be the same.

Are you also using the Friends and Family Referral discount? Just curious.

Keep us posted.

We purchased 210 points last year at SSR under the same promoton. We did a 150 contract and 60 point contract. They have the same use year. We broke it up so that if we ever need to sell or our vacation habits changed we could sell off the 60 point one.
If you want more info feel free to send me a pm.

:woohoo: Congratulations!! :woohoo:

You will have to have a initial 150 point contract, after that if you want to do a 50 pt contract you can, but I believe with the friends and family promo going you it would be cheaper to lump it all into one 200 pt contract.

Why is that?

It would be cheaper to do one contract because you would not get the $86 per point price on the 50 pt contract- addons must be 115 pt minimum to get the $86 rate.

I bought last year under the same promotion and we purchased 210 points. Our guide split it into a 150 and 60 point contract. We got all the points at a discounted price.

Oh phorsenuf- thanks for clearing that up- that is good news for the OP- I assumed the 115 minimum was per contract- I am not sure if this is what Good Ol Gal meant when she said it would be more expensive to do 2 contracts- maybe she can clear that up.

this is what I meant.

The OP would first have to have an inital contract of 150 pts to become a member, then if he/she were to "add-on" another contract for 50 pts, since it was less than the 115 pts, it would not qualify for the f&f discount.

maybe last year there was a different min purchase so phorsenuf could do the two contracts, I don't know. But right now, you must purchase an add-on of 115 points to get the $86 deal.

Maybe because she was thinking about closing costs? I don't know. When we bought last year there were no closing costs. But if it can be split like they did mine than essentially it would be cheaper because now you would be paying closing costs on 150 points only.

Of course I could be way off base since some things have changed since last year.

The best thing to do of course is for them to call their guide and see what they say.

The difference of have 1 contract at 200 or points or 2 contracts at 150 + 50 points is that if you ever to decide to sell or downsize it will be easier with 2 contracts. (Impossible to downsize on 1 contract- you would actually have to sell the whole contract- then purchase a smaller contract, and it is harder to sell a large contract- generally the smaller the contract the faster it sells and higher price per point.)
Is that what you mean?
