50 points

We have both a BC and a BW contract -- the Beach Club we bought directly from Disney -- Boardwalk, I think we got through a Timeshare Store -- two different use years - really has never been a problem....we just want to add on another 50 points, either BC or BW -- if we add on in increments it won't be as painful on the pocketbook......most of these re-sales websites have listings for 100 or more -- and the occasional 50 pointer is usually listed as "sale pending" --- any suggestions on how to obtain 50 points -- probably pretty hard to come by but we're willing to wait it out -- as long as we don't use the money for something else!

Is there a reason why you don't want to purchase an add-on directly from Disney? Given that small resale contracts sell for a premium price and you will pay closing costs on top of that, the $95/point that Disney charges (and no closing costs) works out about the same in the end. Plus, Disney gives you current Use Year points with your purchase.

There will probably be a wait for BCV points but they often have BWV points available right away or after a short wait (a few weeks).

That was going to be my comment too, Lisa! I would add on direct from Disney so your use year will be the same for that resort.

I too am currently on a wait list for 50 BCV points. I already have 210 OKW. I want to put my son's name on the 50 BCV pt. contract when I get it, and then buy another for my daughter, and so on. Then perhaps, we will sell the 210 OKW contract. As soon as they get 50 points with my use year they will charge it to my credit card.

Thanks everyone -- I did check the TUG site - nothing for BC or BW -- what do you think about adding on a small amount of points from OKW or Hilton Head which seem to be available....we go about three or 4 times a year -- sometimes during the week after x-mas or easter vacation when the kids are out of school and we have never had a problem booking a room b/c of the two different contracts. If we add a third one into the mix == could there be a potential conflict ..I don't see any problem since we've never had one before, but friends who are DVC members are saying things like too many contracts to manage ...you'll have problems with your exclusivity period, etc.

For the person who posted about added 50 BCV points onto the already exising OKW contract -- why BC and not OKW if it doesn't really make a difference??

No doubt for the 11 month priority booking window. If you never book your vacations more than 7 months out, it won;t make any difference which resort you purchase.

Is your son on your original contract? I don't think they'll do less than 150 points directly through Disney unless the contracts are deeded in the same names, as they'd need to set up new membership numbers for differently deeded contracts. Otherwise, you'll need to purchase the eadd-on then re-deed it by filing a new deed, and getting a ROFR waiver from Disney.

I'm curious why you don't want to purchase BCV or BWV points directly from Disney? Small contracts sell for a premium on the resale market and you have to pay closing costs and sometimes also reimburse the seller for past dues. Disney does not charge closing costs, pro-rates the dues and gives you current-UY points so it may be cheaper to buy from Disney but you seem to have ruled it out. There would be a wait for BCV points but many people get BWV points from Disney immediately.

I'm curious too. Small resale contracts for BCV have been running almost the same price as what you'd pay buying directly from Disney. Plus if you are an existing member I don't think there's any closing costs. Does your reluctance have something to do with use year, or trying to get banked points? I'd call your guide and just ask what they can do for you.

Disney does not charge closing costs.

Is this true just for add-ons through Disney at any of their resorts? I know I recently paid for closing costs for SSR as a new member. But once you are a member, are closing costs waived for add-ons?

Correct. New members pay closing costs but there are no closing costs when existing members purchase add-ons.
