Hi... I have a couple questions about DVC.

1. When transfering your pionts to a non DVC like Grand Floridian or maybe even Disneyland... what are the room sizes? There is just a point per night chart and no room sizes...

2. If we wanted to stay at a non DVC, how far in advance can we book our trip? What if we are going to Hawaii or something, would it still be 7 months because it's not our home resort?

3. When we took the tour on Friday, we forgot to ask about willing our DVC to our kids... what's the scoop on that? I know he mentioned it but we forgot to go back to it...

Thank you so much... i tried calling my guide but we missed each other's calls and now he is out of the office! And I am being impatient, lol!

Hi... I have a couple questions about DVC.

1. When transfering your pionts to a non DVC like Grand Floridian or maybe even Disneyland... what are the room sizes? There is just a point per night chart and no room sizes. You will get a regular standard room.

2. If we wanted to stay at a non DVC, how far in advance can we book our trip? What if we are going to Hawaii or something, would it still be 7 months because it's not our home resort? In the case of II exchanges (like Hawaii), you can start that trade out search as early as 2 years ahead. For Disney collection and Disney Adventures or Concierge Collection, it is 11 months, just like your home resort.

3. When we took the tour on Friday, we forgot to ask about willing our DVC to our kids... what's the scoop on that? I know he mentioned it but we forgot to go back to it...Yes, you can will it to your offspring or anyone else you want to.

Thank you so much... i tried calling my guide but we missed each other's calls and now he is out of the office! And I am being impatient, lol!

I can speak to part of Item #1. The rooms at DL are standard size, but you can request (for more points of course) a DTD view from the DL Hotel or a Park or DTD view from the GC.

mrsschlep,
We are in schwenksville pa too! Small world, but an even smaller town! How funny is that? are you pv or sf? we are sf.

We are dvc bcv members, and have often contemplated staying at the poly because of the monorail, but never end up doing it....we just love the bcv too much. the pool is unbeatable. I have to say though.....that a deluxe room at a resort like the poly or the grand floridian is much nicer than a studio in a dvc property. At least the boys can sleep in a real bed vs. a sleeper sofa mattress....

last year we traveled to disney via the auto train....it was fun...we have two boys ages 8 and 11....and one is afraid of flying....

so there are trade-offs both ways...make a list of the pros and cons and see which outweighs the other!

See you around town!

If you decide you want to will DVC to your kids and you want each kid to get an equal share, make sure you purchase you points that way too. You (or they later on) cannot split up the contract. So if you have two kids, get two 150 pt contract for a total of 300 pts.
