What do I get with a resale purchase?

I recently just closed on a resale contract at HHI. I'm now waiting until I'm "in the system" to make my first reservation (and do an add-on :rotfl: ).

Anyway, I keep seeing posts about a "tote bag with information in it", "fed-ex delivering packets of info", etc. when people have purchased directly from Disney. Do I get any info from Disney? If not, how can I obtain some because quite frankly, I'm getting older and need some sort of reference book to refer back to when I have a question. (I don't care much about the tote bag/backpack/lithograph, I just want some information on paper)

I don't know what documentation resellers give, if any.
I would call and ask them.;)

Through Disney, doc are Fed Ex'd..they contain "All Legal Closing" docs, rules & regs. Once closed..membership card, pt. book..and those perks.

After you close and you are "official"..you will get membership card + access to the DVC member web site and all future mailings that all of us get..
You might want to call MS and ask if any additional info can be sent to you.
BTW...count on getting the dues bill:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Most Importantly....

:dance3: Welcome Home:dance3:

You will get all the docs, on mailing list, access to the DVC website, guide contact info, everything you would get if you were buying for Disney, execpt you don't have to pay as much up front.

Well you won't get that nifty tote bag, but I'm betting you saved enought money buying a resale, you can now afford a pallet of those bags!!!

I don't know who you bought your resale through, but I would call them up and see when you will be recieving your offical contracts. If it's the guy's at TTS, the sponsor of this site, you probably already have a pretty good working releationship with them, so I'm sure they would be more than happy to chat with you.

I purchased my second resale last year, and could not be happier!!!

Well, not everything.

You don't get the tote bag. On the nifty "stuff box." You don't get the legal documents like the POS (although your guide may be able to send those to you if you want them).

You get the deed. You'll get the current membership book (but they haven't done a big one in years). You'll get login information for the website (where they have all the stuff they used to put in the membership book), and your blue DVC member card.

Actually you don't get "all the docs" as people are referring to them. There is something called a POS which sounds like quite an involved and hefty book which you don't get if you buy resale. On another recent thread (sorry I don't know how to do links) someone said they got close to 1000 pages of info when buying direct from Disney. When I bought resale I only got about 10 pages. I'm still not sure what exactly I'm missing and how important it is.

After joining (even by resale), DVC sends a New Member Handbook and the current Vacation Planner which has all the info on banking/borrowing etc and the point charts.

I bought through resale and all I got was a postcard and a colorful brochure with all the resorts named and points charts. I don't think it was a , "New members Handbook?" Should I have gotten something different? :confused3

I can only say what we got - I'm not sure if it was the usual or not. About a week after we got in the system we received a large envelope with a wlecome letter, a New Member Handbook, the 2006-2007 Vacation Planner, and a spiral bound calendar. In another week or so we received our membership cards. Then finally we got one postcard with info on how to get into the DVC website. We were supposed to get two of these (one each for me and dh) but we were able to get the info from MS over the phone.

I just got a 150 page book/planner from Disney even though I bought a resale through the timeshare store. I still haven't received my Club Membership Card or the information to join the DVCMember.com site. The book is really informative and helped me to understand the ins and outs of the DVC.

Can't wait to book my first trip!

In my experience, you'll get a couple mailings stuffed with a seemingly random collection of paperwork. Some of it useful, some not so (disclosure statements for resorts you didn't buy at). If you are lucky, you'll get the important things (1) membership cards and (2) pin code to log onto the website. If either of those don't arrive in a reasonable amount of time, call MS and ask for them.

Disney would have sent the original owner the tote bag, membership handbook, POS, etc. I suppose if you really wanted any of these, you could always ask the seller to send his to you.

When I purchased my resales, though I already had everything from my original contract purchased direct, I did not find I was really missing anything I truly needed. The website is a wealth of information, not to mention us here on the DIS! :thumbsup2
