tote bag for purchasing DVC

I read that if you purchase through Disney they will send you a tote bag for becoming a member. If you purchase resale will they also send you a tote bag once you are in the system?

I did get a tote bag with my paperwork and welcome package from disney
last month on a direct purchase.

Yes, Disney sends you paperwork in the totebag. The CM that I dealt with said it's the most expensive totebag we will ever buy!!! I am not sure if you would get it through a resale though...would you like mine?

No, you don't normally get one on resale. I did get one on my last add on. I think the guide figured out I had added on as much as an initial contract! LOL!

Actually we got a backpack with our initial purchase and the tote bag with our add-on. Gave the tote bag to my mother.

If you purchase a resale, the original member got the tote bag or whatever they were giving out at that time. If you want one, you need to contact the member who first sold the points and get it from them. Or buy one off ebay.

We also got them on the Members Cruise in '05! At peak, I had 5 of them! They're nice, hold a lot...sorry I don't have any left. We didn't get one for resale, I was surprised. We bought 2 resale add ons, and nothing special came from DVC with those except the deed.

No. In the case of a resale, the original purchaser of the contract got the totebag or backpack or whatever the "thank you" gift was at the time they purchased. They also got the box of DVC info that Disney sends out to those who purchase directly through them. You get neither of those things when you purchase resale because you aren't paying any money to Disney -- your deal is with the prior owner.

But the good news is, when you add on Disney does send you something. I don't know if there is a minimum add-on to get a tote bag or if they send them out even for even the smallest (25 point) add-ons.

Kind'a like the most expensive "free" vacation I ever won. I won a trip to WDW through work and ended up buying DVC from that trip!

I saw a nice DVC tote bag at the Screen Door store at BWV when I was there in October. Mine is wearing out after over a dozen DVC trips.

The one I got zips. Its huge and I use it for my overnight bag when we drive down there. Since we split our contract into 2 contracts they sent me 2. I love them!

I just got a tote for a 25 BWV add on too.

When I first purchased last year they sent out the paperwork with a tote , and when I sent the paperwork in they had to redo it and sent me a new pack of paperwork and another tote.

Gave first one to Mom and second one to Sister and I'm keeping this one!

I got 3. I added on 130 points for BWV and the guide broke it down so that I would get them faster and I got a 50 point contract right away, then a 30 points contract a month later, then another 50 point contract a month after that. I got a tote bag with each package.

The OP asked about getting the tote if purchasing resale. No...this is a gift from Disney for buying direct. However, if you purchase resale from The TimeShare Store you get a basket of nice gifts, I understand. This is a multi-thousand dollar purchase...don't make the decision based on which seller offers a tote bag. It's a nice bag and all, but...

I wish you could buy them from Disney for those of us who purchased via the resale market. I got a nice one of VWL when I bought an add-on directly from Disney but I don't have one of BWV since that was a resale purchase.

I saw one for sale on ebay several months ago but another DISer was bidding on it so I didn't feel right jumping in. I was happy to see the DIS board member won the auction. Haven't seen one pop up on ebay since then.
