Which is better - Pop Century or All-Star Movies??

My boyfriend and I are going to WDW for the first time in June. We must stay in a value resort but are torn between All-Star Movies and Pop Century. In your opinion, which is better?

I would choose Pop for two adults. A lot of little kids like Movies because of all the icons. Pop is newer and has its own transportation and I believe the AS share busses, but I could be wrong.

The rooms are equal as are services but I like the footprint of the Pop better. It's easier to get around. Also Pop has a lake and conversation pits by it that might be nice for a romantic walk and sitdown with drinks.

We stay at POP b/c it does not share a bus system with anyone. Whe the buses come back from the parks, EVERYONE gets off at the same stop and then EVERYONE standing in line gets on the bus. :)

Also, we were told when we were there in January, that the All Stars Resorts have all of the big groups staying with them b/c they have the best system in place for shuttling the groups through registration and sending them off to play in the parks while they have huge areas to bring their luggage into - straight off of the tour buses. POP is used as an overflow for the big groups during peak season.

The rooms at POP are great, and we always have everything we need for the kids there (they will be 11 & 5 for this trip).

Have fun planning!

Only 22 days until our next 8 day trip to WDW!!!!

I can only comment on because we have not stayed at All Stars...;)

We loved the location and the buses - never had any problems, and would highly recommend

It's nice to hear some positive things about POP. We stayed one night at ASSports before switching to SOG in August (no clue why we didn't book there first) Anyway, for our Dec. trip we won't be eligible for SOG anymore and wanted to avoid AS hotels. We thought we could afford POR but I don't think we will be able to swing it...I was hoping for some nice reviews of POP. Thanks! :goodvibes

Do you have a preference as to the themes of the resorts? Personally the Pop theme strikes us more than the Movies, but it is a personal choice.

I'm a Pop Century fan, because of the one-stop buses and because it's close to Downtown Disney/Pleasure Island. It's also a lot closer to Epcot and MGM.

We stayed at the ASM on our last trip. I was really disappointed. The resort was really run down and so were the rooms. I have seen they have done some renovations, but I think I would try Pop.

Pop was our first choice too. I am absolutely in love with popular culture, so it was a natural pick. Thanks for all of your opinions!

We stayed at pop in october, it was nice the only thing I did not like was we were in teh 80's section and we had to drive to the front to catch the buses it was kinda far. Next time I will get the preferred section so we won't be as far away from the food and buses.

I have stayed at both and I would say POP! Movies to me also was so run down and like someone above said there were way more kids there. Plus the one main deciding factor for me was the Frozen Coke machines at POP! :rotfl2: Have a great trip. I will be staying at pop in August and again for the girls trip in Nov!

I have never stayed at the POP but I have family members who have and they loved it.

We did however just got back from spending Christmas at the AS Movies and my family and I loved it! This was our 1st trip to WDW and the expierience couldn't have been better.
We never waited longer than 10 minutes for a bus and 3 out of 4 times we had our own bus.
The main Fantasia pool was being renovated so we had no pool noise. I found the layout very easy and accesible.
The castmembers were very helpful and friendly especially in the food court.
We used the DP and had a ton of questions.
We're planning a trip for next year and plan to stay there again!
Hope this helps!
Michelle

Congratulations on your first trip!

We are going for the first time as well. Any tips you could throw this way about midunderstandings you had or any problems?

We are going with our 9 year old daughter in January to stay at the Movies. We have preferred rooms. Is was hard to decide where to stay, any more good advice between Pop and Movies would be greatly appreciated, especially from recents visitors.
Cheers

I have to both twice and really like both... however if I had to choose I would say Pop Century.. I really like the overall atmosphere.. I like the separate busses.. I really like the souvenir store and the icees are wonderful!.. dont get me wrong.. I do like ASMo also.. but its just different.. maybe its that Pop is newer..

CHeck to see if they are still remodeling at the movies. We had prefered rooms in August but it took me a lot longer to walk around the construction than if I would of just got a regular room! My kids loved the movies but I was disappointed because of the construction. Just a thought!

thanks for the advice. Where is the best place to find out reliable info on what is being worked on, etc. One site says one set of dates, another gives different dates. Is there an official Disney site regarding closures, rehabs, etc?
For instance, one site has the Fantasia pool closed until Feb 17, another says it will be open by the end of January.
Regarding Movies, what is the absolute bestest room to shoot for. We have no idea about anything, but I would hate to get there and start off our dream vacation with a bad room choice.
Thanks again for reading, and we still appreciate any advice :}
Cheers

IMO the dalmations 1 were the closest to the food court. I had to go by there to get to the front building. Now the Fantasia building 5 is the closest to the pool. I believe Fantasia 8 is too. Ok just went and dug out the floor plan from when we went in Aug. We were the first room to the left of the big hat in Fantasia 5 building.

Now if the construction is done that would be a great room. I would call the front desk of the hotel to find out. Just call 407 w disney and ask for the front desk to the movies and they will connect you! let me know If I can help with anything else!
