Only 5 months until I can make ADRs! :rotfl: My DD7 will be celebrating her 8th birthday while at The World. To help us overcome our post holiday blues, we are putting a lot of effort into planning our November trip! She wants to have dinner with Mickey on her birthday so what would be the better experience Liberty Tree Tavern or Chef Mickey's? We have been to Chef Mickey's for breakfast, do they do all the dancing and singing at dinner as well? Does LTT do anything like that? TIA!

I'm not sure about Chef Mickey's at dinner, but at LLT, the characters just come around and sign autographs and take pictures during dinner. It's a FANTASTIC meal at LTT. But Mickey's never been to LTT dinner when I've been there.

We personally like LTT food better. But if you are going for the overall experience I would say go to CM. I have been to LTT many times and occassionally Mickey is not there. So if seeing Mickey is a must CM is a better bet. Also, as far as I can remember CM makes a bigger deal out of birthdays then LTT does. Either way, have fun!

That is what I was looking for! This may be her last birthday that she will WANT to spend with characters so I want it to be special! BTW do you know if we could see fireworks from the Contemporary after dinner?

Definitely CM for a b-day celebration. I think the atmosphere is GREAT for an 8 year old, food selection pleases everyone, and they will do the b-day celebration/napkin waving and you can call ahead and ask for a cupcake surprise at the table for the bday too. Enjoy!!!

Hi Peace,
imo: I think CM is the way to go. We went there for a birthday celebration and they had the mickey confetti on the table w/ a cute card signed by Mickey and the gang. On the other hand, if you have been there already and havent tried LT, its a chance for you to experience something new. Ask your daughter which she would prefer... Lt is more of a "thanksgiving meal" where you have a little more of a choice at CM. Either one you choice I dont think you will be dissappointed.:yay:

Yes, at Chef Mickey's they do the napkin twirling/singing/parading at dinner.

No, LTT does not do all that. The characters just come around for photo opps. & to sign autograph books.

IMO, a b-day dinner at CM will be more memorable than one at LTT.

WOW! We are from Bridge City, TX (Near Beaumont) and we are going in December and DD will also be turning 8!!! We will arrive the evening before her b-day and have dinner at CM. On her actual b-day, we will do CRT and 1900 Park Fare (She LOVES Princesses). I think the big birthday with a cake will be at Park Fare. We will do LTT on our last full day at WDW. Like you we are already planning and looking forward to being able to make ADR's!!!!! Where are yall staying? We will be at PorOrleans Riverside. Have fun planning and I know your DD will have a blast. I'm sure you already know you can get birthday pins at each park, and note it on your reservation.

I'll be the odd one out and say LTT, definitely.

My DD did a birthday dinner at CM and not only was the food horrible, they didn't do anything that you couldn't get anywhere else. She got the birthday cupcake brought to the table, period, and you can get that at any of the WDW restaurants. Now, we didn't go hoping for special treatment, so it wasn't a huge deal to any of us, but the food.... Ugh! If not for the dessert buffet, which was actually alright, we would've gone hungry that night. So it was not a special, memorable meal at all.

We almost skipped LTT due to some of the reviews on here, and I am so, so glad that we didn't. The food (we had the Thanksgiving style feast) was wonderful and the character interaction was better than we've ever had elsewhere. It was like we couldn't keep them away! :goodvibes We can't wait to go back to LTT, it's one of our favorite meals onsite. :thumbsup2

I have to vote for LTT also. I planned a birthday surprise for my DD several years ago at CM & ordered a special cake for the celebration. The order was lost. We were placed in an area where we barely saw the characters & had to ask to see Mickey.

We love LTT. We celebrated a birthday there last year ordering a cake. The servers & characters made a huge fuss over her. We ate dinner there on Christmas Eve & the characters came to the table at least twice each. We have never seen Mickey at LTT though.

We also love Chef Mickey's. Been to LTT once and have had no desire to return.Chef Mickey's and Crystal Palace are always on our schedule. My daughter will be celebrating her 6th Bday at WDW in two weeks and we have planned our birthday dinner at 1900 Park Fare at the GF. That morning I made her a surprise ressie at the Bippidi Boppidi Boutique for her at DTD and I am taking her princess costume to wear to dinner.:wizard:

If she wants to spend her birthday dinner with Mickey than you need to go to CM. I've enjoyed both places. We did LTT the last two trips (one in SEP05 and OCT06). We had poor service in 2005 and very little character interaction. We almost didn't go there this year but decided to try it on the night we did the MNSSHP. I mean this was a favorite of ours in many past trips but between our meal in 2005 and meals both my DS's complained about we were not sure about going back. Well we had a much better time this year.

That said, I don't believe that Mickey comes to LTT. I have pictures of him at LTT from years back (we're talking at least 10-11 years ago) but in all the trips we've made in recent years, he is not there.

Hope you have a great trip and a memorable birthday for your DD!

Also, not sure but I believe the CR may have a viewing area (possibly around the 15th floor) where you can see the fireworks.

My older dd, now 11, celebrated her 9th bday at CM. We've never been to LTT, so I can't comment on that, but we had a great time at CM. Great character action (I think it made a big difference that we all looked like this -->:earboy2: :earboy2: ) but we got lots of time, sometimes with several at once. If I remember correctly, though, Mickey does not walk around? Or is that Donald. Seems like you have to do a special photo op w/one of them.

In re: to the fireworks. I guess you can see them from the contemporary, but what we did was ride the monorail to MK and requested the front car. When we first got on, the driver told us we'd only be able to go to the next stop and then give someone else a turn, but then he found out it was dd's bday and :wizard: , we got to ride in the front all the way to MK from the contemporary. Then we watched the fw from the train station, which was a great view and quite different from being closer to the castle. Plus, you can hear the music, which really adds to the experience imo. If dd were here, we'd both be singing 'Wishes. . . wishes. . ." Anyway, it was very magical and she was :cloud9:
