Hi,

I'm planning a budget trip and thinking about staying at a hotel at I-drive (Best Western Plaza International Orlandol; 8738 International Drive,). Now I have a few question and maybe someone can answer them for me:

1) Is it possible to walk from the I-trolley stop to Universal Studios (I don't mind walking 20-30 minutes)

2) If I take a cab to WDW, how much will it cost approx. one way

3) how much does a cab cost from MCO to I-drive.

4) Which cab service do you recommend

Thank you for answering these questions!

I guess you could but it's probably a good three miles or so (A good hour) and I don't know that I'd be comfortable with that walk at night.

2) If I take a cab to WDW, how much will it cost approx. one way

From the south end probably $10-15 or so to the TTC. Plus tip.

3) how much does a cab cost from MCO to I-drive.[/quote

Plan on $30 or so--plus tip--each way of course.

4) Which cab service do you recommend

Any metered cab that you catch from the cab stand at MCO will have the same rates. Don't use a gypsy cab, only get one from the stand.

As you can see, you'll spend a lot more in cabs than you would if you simply rented a car or stayed on property at WDW with DME from the airport and used Mears for the trip to Universal.

Thank you for anwering my questions. I'm now thinking about the following plan (first half off-site, second half on-site to take advantage of evening EMH)

drive from Miami (where I have a convention) on friday morning
visit IOA friday afternoon
visit USF saturday
visit IOA sunday morning (till 13:00/14:00)
Bring back the car to MCO and take magical express tot WDW (and visit MK which will be open till 24:00)
thursday back to MCO with Magical Express (flight leaves at 19:30 so i have most of the day to visit a park)

I don't think you'll be able to take ME from the airport unles you've come in on a flight. Most rental agencies have a location in the greater WDW area that you could drop the car at--what rental/hire agency are you using?

You might want to consider driving Thursday night rather than Friday morning--traffic at night will be a lot lighter and the route is quite simple. That would give an entire day in USF and IOA. You could return the car Sunday morning and go directly to the MK. It seems perverse to pay for park tickets to both IOA and the MK for half a day each.

DME would pick you up at your hotel at 3:30 to return to MCO--earlier than usual as you are on an International flight.

Probably Hertz

I'm thinking about leaving the convention hotel around 5:00 am and take a cab to the airport and pickup my car there. The convention hotel as also a Hertz location but that is only open from 8:30am till 16:00 to pick it up at thursday, so that will cost me an extra day and parking at the hotel. Besides that, if I rent my car through my travel agency i get a far better price than renting online ($27 per day including all nescary insurances), but you have to get the car from the airport.

It would only be a park ticket at IOA, because I would take the bus from All Stars to the MK.

That still gives me till 14:00 in Epcot :yay:

Actually you can use Magical Express if you are not flying in. When you reserve ME, name a flight, any flight, any airline arriving at about the time you be at Orlando Int'l Airport on your check in day.

I already thought that, thanks for confirming it
