Hi all,

We are in the process of selling our house, plus my wife is due " fingers crossed" to get a health insurance payout. Now due to me being military and always moving around we have decided we will put half the money away so when we do finally settle and that won't be for another 15-20 years if all goes to plan we will have a decent deposit for the house!
Now the other half we tend to play with a little :) my wife feels that due to all her suffering and the fact we have all had a rough time with her being ill we deserve to blow a bit on something we love and DISNEY just happens to be that thing we love lol!

We are dw 28, me 32 oldest son 10 twins 8 so we have a good few Disney years in us yet......

We have decided that DVC is what we want to do with some of the money.
I just need some help please, we have tried to read forums etc to get info but I think it may be more helpful to get views from you guys!
We would like at least 2 wks every other yr. and we like the look of SSR /AKL /BLT. And maybe even the POLY depending on when it will be ready for sale and of course I'm sure it will be expensive, we have looked around the poly quite a bit and still trying to decide wether DVC could ruin the beauty of it and make it more busy then it already is lol.

Right so questions
1. How many points roughly would it be to get a 2bed villa every other yr for 2-3 wks?

2. We use DDP every trip wether we pay OOP or not, obviously if its free then that's great we never eat in the villa so do many who buy DVC still holiday like this or does it defeat the point of buying DVC?

3.Buying direct do they still offer Incentives to buy direct with them, I remember when we 1st looked into it they offered either GC or Disney cruise?
4. If you buy resale I understand you can't cruise with the points, we have not done a cruise but are going to book one for next year with us being a family of 5 sometimes 6 if mother in-law comes along is cruising a bad way to use your points? I've read cash cruise is better ( hope that makes sense)

5. Anything else we should consider?
Sites forums we could look at to get more of an idea?
We would not so finance we would pay it straight out, we pay now roughly £5000- £8000 just for accommodation tickets and DDP now when at Disney as we do 3 wks in 2 rooms or a 2 bed so I think it makes sense in that aspect to get DVC even if we so lose on the free DDP,

Thanks for any help you can give :)

Hi all , hope this is allowed in here.
Has anyone ever rented DVC points, I've had a look at it but I've got a few concerns.
Number one, is it allowed/approved by Disney.
I know how it works was just wondering if there's any chance when I got to check in they could say oh, you don't own these points. Is it permissible for DVC members to rent out points? I've worded that really badly but hopefully you get the general gist.
I've been looking at a site called David's vacation club rentals, it costs 14 dollars a point, which is probably at the high end of the scale but it does seem hassle free. Has anyone used them before? Are they reputable.
Another question, I'm looking a studio for 15 or 16 days at the Boardwalk, is it even possible to rent out that amount of points. It says its 300 points on his site, I take it I would have to rent them all from one person.
What about the Magical express, is that something we book or he does? And whose name actually goes on the reservation.
So if anyone could please give me the heads up on all this it would be really appreciated, maybe if some of you guys have done it before a mini review would be nice too.
Thank you Simon.

Hi
Hope some of you can help me out here. I am looking at DVC. My situation is, myself and partner are 47, we have a 20yr old daughter and 16yr old son (I know, we should have bought years ago when we first looked at it). By the way, we have just been at Easter and it was like taking 2 tots-the kids are still Disney mad!! I am planning that we could possibly use it every 2-3 years and probably can't use it until 2014/15 anyway. My wife is a teacher and son at college (holiday dates never match. We can only go at Easter or maybe a week in October (obviously the peak times). My plan is we could get there like I said every couple of years or so and in about 10-12 years when we plan to retire the two of us could use at cheaper times. We could also try to get a good family holiday in later in a bigger accomodation. It all adds up for me, but trying to convince the missus. i have looked at SS resale at about $60/62 dollars a point-what was the price a year or so ago-are they going up all the time?? Any thoughts would be very much appreciated.
Thanks
Alan
