I am heading to WDW (for my 4th trip) from December 3-11 of this year and I was just wondering if any of you had been there during this first week of December? If so, how crowded are the parks? We are staying at the Fort Wilderness Campground, so I'm not too worried about the Pop Warner crowd.

Thanks in advance for your responses!!

Hey everyone ! :goodvibes Before we get started, a little background info on the cast of characters. Oh, and I'm sensitive, so BE NICE :rotfl:

Ok, here.....we......go! (Peter Pan!)

Me - 32 year old Disney NUT and first grade teacher! My first family trip to WDW was the Christmas after my dad died of cancer. We just couldn't stand to be home and my mom thought it would be a good way for us to spend the holiday. I was 16 and my sisters were 14 and 11. Since then, we've taken a few family trips, and DH and I have taken 7 trips together. It's definitely my HAPPY PLACE. I don't know if it's due to the circumstances of my first trip or not, but I just feel such a warmth and connection to my family when I'm there. Like most people on here, I feel there's no other place like it!! Ok, onto park stuff... I am not a 'rider.' I hate rollercoasters and anything that is 3D or virtual reality where you feel like you're moving but you're not. However, I go for the atmosphere, the shopping, and to eat whatever my heart desires :) In all actuality, there are probably only about 6-7 total rides/attractions in all 4 parks that I've never done, so I'm not 'that' bad :)

DH - 30 year old (yep, I like 'em younger ;) ) converted Disney NUT :rotfl2: and golf caddie. He took one trip with his family when he was little and hadn't been back again until our first trip together in 2004. He LOVES a thrill, rides anything and everything, and enjoys finding new things to eat on each trip. He is a giant kid at heart, just like me, and enjoys being a clown and entertainer whenever he gets the chance. He is the PERFECT person to have with you in WDW!
Here he is dancing at EMH at Playhouse Disney....nuff'said :)

Our Disney history together-

2004 - Our first trip to WDW together, and our first vacation as a dating couple. We stayed at POP Century when it was fairly new and really enjoyed the FUN atmosphere! I knew DH was officially converted when I overheard him singing 'Be Our Guest' in the shower after a day at DHS (which was MGM then.) :rotfl:

2007 - January with my mom and youngest sister to plan our Disney wedding. Since I'm a teacher, it was just a short 4 day weekend trip over the MLK holiday, but it was AMAZING to not only get to plan our wedding, but to be there when there weren't many crowds and it wasn't blazing hot! We stayed at POFQ.

2007 - July - our wedding & honeymoon trip. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the GREATEST of times. We'll just leave it at that ;) We stayed at the CR garden wing.

2007 - Thanksgiving trip - thanks to the free APs they give you with a Disney wedding and all of our wedding gift money, we said, 'let's go back while we can!' We went for 5 days and it was wonderful!! Our trips when I was little were always at Christmas (whole family of teachers) so it was great to see the decorations again!

2008 - July again for our 1 year anniversary- We did 8 nights and did a split stay between GF, CSR, and CR tower MK view. Let's just say the 'worst of times' part of our wedding paid for this trip. Did I mention I LOVE Disney?

2009- July for our 2nd anniversary & 4th of July - My mom and youngest sister joined us on this trip and we stayed in a Deluxe Club room at BWI. We are now officially spoiled!!

2010 - July for our 3rd anniversary - the trip this report is about, so you'll just have to stay tuned to learn all about it :goodvibes

A couple pics from previous trips:

Well hello all! Welcome to my very first trip report :)
I had been reading many trip reports on DIS in anticipation for our trip in July. I enjoyed the day by day replays- as well as looking at all the pictures. So thanks to all of you who have shared your vacations with me over the past year.

Anyway let me start with some background information about myself and my family.

My family has been visiting WDW since the early 1980's. My mom, dad and DB visited WDW for the first time in 1984 (I was 2 and stayed at home with my Grandparents- my parents thoght I was too young- well none of that "too young" stuff for my DD...lol) Anyway, my parents fell in love with Disney. They had been to Disneyland- but there was just something about Disney World that got them hooked . The next trip that was made was in 1986- when I was 4...that was my first trip. After that we started visiting once a year- and sometimes even twice a year. I know to some of you- once a year is just a drop in the bucket- but keep in mind we are from smack dab in the middle of Canada. The flights from our local airport are not the cheapest in the world- and we definately can't hop in our car and cruise down to the World (ohhhh but I wish we could). We are consideredc "the go to people" in our city for Disney World trip planning. Our homes are filled with Disney (from the pictures on our walls, to the silverwear on our tables). We spend many hours researching, reading, and thinking about Disney.

So let me intoduce you to our crew:

Me- Beckie- Hi Nice to Meet You!!!! :)- I am a 28 year old 1st Grade Teacher. I celebrated my 28th birthday at the World this trip.

DH- Kevin- 30 year old Continuing Care Assistant. Celebrated graduating from his program- with honors- and his 30th birthday while we were at the World.

DD- Princess Chloe- our strong minded 3 year old daughter- is a huge Figmant fan. Loves swimming and the princesses.

DM- Kathy- 50 something (sorry mom) banker- who is nearning retirment this year.

DF- Lew- 50 something funeral director- nearing retirment this year- would love to spend his winters in Florida- if he can only convince mom.

DB- Brett- AKA @MrBrettYoung on Twitter- 30 year old- single (yes ladies hecould be yours...) English/Buisness Teacher...is our photographer on vacation. Brett is a runner...lost 80 pounds 2 years ago...and is getting to run the Goofy's Challenge in January.

So that is us. We are very close family spending lots of time together during the week.

I have decided to title each day of our trip reports with the "The One With..." For those of you how are FRIENDS fans- you will know that each episode is titled this way. My brother has a blog and titled his daily reports this way...so decided to do this as well.

I will not be posting any food porn in these reports- but will be doing Dining Reviews in the weeks to come- so watch for those in the Dining Forum.

So....on with the show.....

When & Where: March 4-8 2010, WDW/Port Orleans Riverside
Why?: Disney Princess Half Marathon!
Who: Myself (Alicia) - Total Disney fanatic, I've been there 7 times and love, love, love it!
My fiance Jon - He'd only been once as a young teenager. He didn't dislike it, but it was just another family vaca for him. He was interested in going back to see it as an adult. I insisted that his whole outlook on WDW would change now that he was going with someone who loves it. Jon & I are in our mid-20's.

Jon & I!

Our friends Sean and Jess - Jon, Jess and myself were going to be running the race. Sean was our cheerleader!
My grandparents - They were already on a vacation to FL, so they met us in WDW with a few other local relatives to watch us race and visit the parks.
Jill and Ben - Close friends of my family. They were married in WDW (their wedding in 2005 was the last time I'd been - a long break for me!) and love it, so they decided to come down to watch us race, too!

I'm not sure what else to write in here as an intro, so onward to the first post!

Would like to know if anyone could tell me what kind of weather to expect in Helsinki in early December. Is it excessively cold? Snow? Could it eventually bring me trouble in flight delaying or in moving around the city? If so, what would you consider the best time in winter to go? Thank you.

Hi everyone and welcome to my very first TR!!! I'm super excited to finally be able to do one. Forgive me if I leave out important info or mess up with the DIS lingo or something like that...I'm still pretty new to all of the DISboards stuff. I don't have a PTR since I joined the DIS after I got back, lol. So anywho, I guess I'll go ahead and start with the basics...

When: June 21-27

Where: WDW of course! haha but we stayed off site :( I've never stayed on site so hopefully someday...:)

The cast:
Me- Clarice(17) Lifelong Disney fan, but has become much more obsessed lately, lol. Has been a cheerleader for 8 years now. Officially a HS senior! Biggest roller coaster freak to ever live...the faster and crazier the better! Favorite Disney movie of all time is Mulan, so she is also my favorite princess (Even if she isn't technically one .) Has the biggest crush on Shang:love:(you'll be hearing a lot about him so forgive me in advance...lol!)

Jamie(17) My awesome best friend who is also a lifelong Disney fan. Definitely a WDW expert. Favorite Disney movie of all time I believe is Beauty & the Beast, since her favorite princess is Belle. Also an official HS senior now too! Has lived all over the world so she's been to all the other Disney parks around the globe as well(I'm super jealous of this, lol).

Me (left) and Jamie at homecoming.(sorry it's blurry)

Jamie invited me on this trip with her family so the rest of the cast would be Jamie's Mom, Dad, and her 2 little brothers (they're not in any of my pics though). Her family is so sweet and were very kind to let me come along. My parents aren't really Disney people :sad2: my Mom likes it but my Dad is a total non Disney believer...i know, it's sad. I was lucky enough to go to WDW two times when I was little with my parents, but the last time I was there was 2004. So when Jamie asked me if I'd like to go with her and her family to WDW I started screaming and then almost fainted from screaming too much...yeah it had been WAY too long!
We were driving, so our first 2 days of the trip were mostly driving from VA all the way down to FL....it took forever. Well I guess that covers everything for now...stay tuned for the rest of our adventure!

Oh and to explain the title of the trip,"You're mocking me, aren't you?", I guess Jamie and I are just really sarcastic because it seemed like we were constantly making fun of eachother and saying this line...haha idk why, but we decided about halfway through the trip that this would have to be the title of it since we probably said it about 50 times!:rotfl:

Up Next: We arrive in Orlando and my first time at DTD!!!!

Instead of our annual trip just being myself, my husband and our son, this time we invited along my sister-in-law and her daughters. I found out quickly that a 6 person trip is a LOT different than a 3 person trip. All 3 of the "extra" folks were virgins so it was a lot of fun but I felt a certain amount of pressure to make sure they got to see and do as much as possible. It probably made it seem like I was running the show but hey... I'm the expert right?

So here's the slide show... make sure to do the "HD" option (trust me it's a lot better). Enjoy!

Why hello there, Dissers!
Welcome to my first ever attempt at a trip report. I tried to keep diligent notes during our trip regarding the details of our days but, alas, after two nights of entries I got too distracted by all the fun I was having! But don't worry, I have bunches of pictures to job my memory.

Why does the title of my trip report make no sense?
Who are these mysterious kittens?
All in due time, dear readers!

Let's start off with our basics!

WHEN? May 10 - 17
WHERE? Pop Century Resort
WHY? To celebrate surviving another year of college and our one year anniversary! (Well, really just because I was craving a Disney fix, but those reasons sound better on paper.)
HOW? Flying and relying on the Disney buses to do the driving
WHO?

Matt! This is my fantastic boyfriend of a year and 3 months. This was his first trip ever to Walt Disney World and he had no idea what to expect. Having gone to Disneyland as a kid, his idea of a theme park was waiting three hours in line to do one thing. Boy was he in for a surprise! If you're following my dining review you know that he's a vegetarian and, thankfully, eating was a breeze on his trip. Despite making fun of me constantly for all the planning and obsessive Dis checking I did before this trip, he ended up really getting in to the spirit of things (and kicked *** at finding hidden mickeys!). I'll be attempting to pry opinions out of him to add to this review, but I must admit, he's a man of few words. Matt is a math major, loves pesto, and knows quite a bit about coffee.

Katy! This is me, excited to be on the Magical Express for the first time! This was my fourth trip to Disney World but my first time relying on Disney transportation. I love to plan trips, especially ones to the happiest place on earth. I made my own autograph book for the trip and decorated a little journal to use for ADRs, notes, and that sort of thing. I was excited about introducing Matt to the World but also a little nervous...what if he didn't have a good time? Thankfully my fears were in vain! I'm in school to be a pre-k teacher, write local food reviews (link in my signature!), and rarely hear a song that I don't start to sing along to!

So that's us. Two crazy college students who spent our own money going on an awesome trip. My next post will discuss our flight, the magical express, and our first night at Pop.

So I had this all typed out and the DIS told me to log in again and I lost it! So, here's a quick one:

My best friend and I took a last minute trip to Orlando over the 4th of July weekend and had so much fun! Her husband had to go to England for work and They couldn't afford to bring her to England too. So, it was Disney for the girls!!

We stayed at the brand new Hilton Bonnet Creek, which was a new choice for me as I've always stayed on property before.

We flew from NYC on that Friday morning and had a great flight on Delta. Took our carry on luggage and then went to the Mears shuttle. We had a great driver, Angel, who was funny, nice, and down to earth. We had a few other folks in our van but were the 2nd stop.

We got to Hilton Bonnet Creek and 2 employees welcomed us warmly. We walked into the gorgeous lobby and the folks behind the desk basically asked us where in the hotel did we want to stay. It was great! We checked out the room (beautiful!!) and dropped off our stuff.

We hadn't had lunch, so we went to BEECH, the outdoor bar/restaurant right by the pool. We had some drinks and nachos and decided to go to Downtown Disney after we ate. Took the free shuttle bus (which was really nice, it was a bus like the Magical Express bus not a city bus) and got to Downtown Disney in about 8 minutes. :cool1:

Decided to take the boat to the other side of Downtown Disney and walk our way back. Looked in all the shops, loved trying the sugar scrub in BASIN, and decided to go to House of Blues for dinner as I had a restaurant.com certificate. We waited about 15 minutes and were seated. (while we waited, we sat outside and had a beer and listened to a singer, he was very good.).

The food was great! I had a salad with pecans, bleu cheese, blackened chicken and a vinegarette. so good. We split the crab dip and ordered some fresh green beans. And saved $25. so it was even better. :yay:

Then decided to walk over to Ghiradelli for an ice cream for dessert. On the way we looked in all the shops we skipped on the way over. And ended up at a Dance party that they were having with a bunch of kids/parents. We ended up dancing in the back and getting some of the parents to dance with us. So much fun! We laughed, sweated, and worked off our dinner! :rotfl2:

Got the ice cream and decided to take the boat back to the other side so we could get our bus back. Well, it was so crowded at the boat launch we realized we would never make it back. so we took a disney bus to the middle of DTD and ran the rest of the way. We missed the bus by about 30 seconds. Crazy!

Ended up taking a cab back to the hotel. At this point it was about 10:30pm and we were hot and sweating! So, we took showers and decided to just chill and plan the next day. All of a sudden we heard big banging sounds and Heather opened the curtain where we saw a huge fireworks show! We think it was from Epcot. It was beautiful! :flower3:

Up Next:

Day 2!

Where
July 11-16 - 2 bedroom VWL - ground floor unit. It was wonderful and we enjoyed our stay here immensely.
July 16-21 - standard room at POP - ground floor in 70's building, facing the lake. GREAT location...fairly close to the lobby but quiet.

DDP first 5 days only - table service:
Chef Mickey's - great character interaction, food okay. We felt a little cramped at the table.
Ohana's - DGS had a meltdown so it was not fun for us...but food was great.
Hollywood and Vine - another great character interaction experience and the food was fine. DGS loved this place.
Le Cellier - We were seated at a table that would comfortably fit four at the most. Five of us with a high chair just didn't work. Cheddar soup was great, but filet was SALTY...and I like my salt. This meal was our biggest disappointment.
Trails End Buffet - for a late breakfast on our last day...food was basic but this was our most relaxed and enjoyable table service meal. We had a nice sized table and it was not loud nor crowded.

Counter service:

Roaring Forks at WL - basic food, flatbreads were a hit.
Cosmic Rays - again, basic food but good variety.
Restaurantosaurus - chicken was good.
We split up at Epcot...I got the cheese plate at France, others went to Japan or had burgers at America.

Parks:

I expected hot and crowded, and it was definitely hot but not as crowded as I thought it would be. We definitely benefitted by getting to the parks early, even though some of our group rebelled by Day 3 (Studio day). They wanted to sleep in, which robbed us of our chance to ride TSM that day (120 minute wait and no more fast passes). Lots of Brazilian tour groups! We learned to avoid them...if we saw them in line somewhere, we bypassed that attraction until later. And we quickly learned NOT to stand behind a tour group leader in a fastpass line.

Buses:

No problems with buses. In fact I think this is the first trip EVER where I never had to stand on a bus.

Overall, we had a fairly uneventful trip with minimal problems. I had an intestinal bug on days 2-4, but nothing that slowed me down. I just had to keep aware of bathroom locations! DH had some asthma symptoms due to the heat and humidity. I wore my teva mush flip flops almost every day and my feet and back felt fine. DGS LOVED meeting Buzz Lightyear and IASW was his favorite ride. He enjoyed the resort pools most of all.

Let me start my short saga out by letting you know that I had 5 months to plan for our vacation (I probably haven't even changed my ticker yet-so you can see how much time is left there).

5 glorious long months to make sure everything was perfect and each day would be the most magical day spent in the happiest place on earth. Originally our first Disney day was going to be December 27th. Now it is August 2. We leave for Disney in 4 days!!!

Who’s we: well, there’s my dh, Michael. The happiest place on earth for him would be in a man cave somewhere with all channels getting ESPN. But, he loves me and his boys so he’s willing to put on Mickey ears and go along with all of our craziness.

Then there’s me, I am the planner of the family. I have CDO, it’s like OCD except the letters are in order the way they should be. I am the list maker, the planner, organizer and driving force of our vacations. I also like it when people comment, so please don’t read and run!

Michael and I have both been to Disney previously once each as children and together in 2001 for our honeymoon. Awwww

Zack-age 7. Excited about everything in the Disney trip except for the rides:scared1: He’s going to be brave though and do most of them, so he says. He’s my peacemaker, my people watcher, my lover of animals and my thinker.

Zane-age 4. Zane is excited about everything in Disney except for the princesses:blush: He’s afraid they’re going to all kiss him and according to him kisses have cooties. Zane is excited for all of the rides and bummed that he’s too little to get on some of them. Zane is my force to be reckoned with; he’s all boy all the time. He’s all of Tigger’s energy stuffed into a Piglet sized body:tigger:

This will be the first time Zack and Zane will be at Disney.

Why only 4 days?...read on

Welcome! I am unsure just how this trip report will unfold, but I promise to include pictures and fond memories of our favorite place!
