Got ours today in Denver. Things may be a little delayed because of the mail service trying to deal with no mail on commercial flights.

Looks pretty good. A nice layout, etc., and some nice extras for doing trip planning. All in all, kudo's to DVC.

Just received ours yesterday in Mass....looks so much more user friendly. Nice photos too. However, they have stopped printing all points needed for exchanges outside of the Disney Collection and cruise points are only for 2001. :earsgirl:

One thing I really liked about the new guidebook - as I was looking through it last night, I commented that it needed a calendar. Lo and behold, there in the back pocket was a calendar.

By using REALLY BIG print do they think we'll absorb the information better? LOL! I like the pictures and I think they do offer a lot more information but there's something clumsy about the cover. I guess they made it hard to support the pocket in the back but I think future issues might be better with a heavy-duty plastic type cover.

I got mine last week. I answered another post on the Guide books then. I'm not too thrilled. It is a very slick sales presentation, glossy pictures and random comments from "members". No point tracking charts, the resort maps are small and I find hard to read, the room layouts are not appealing at all. If I had never been to BWV I would not be impressed and the binding split the first time I opened it. It does have a nice calender which I liked. What did this cost us as members? Somehow I think replacing a few pages every couple of years is more cost effective then having to publish an entire new book every two years.

Nanajo, I remember your post about the book splitting and I was being "very careful" with mine. I see how it happens, the cover is too heavy for the binding.

I really liked the calendar as well. I think they had to re-do the book in order to add all the basic information about making reservations etc. in more detail. This type of production is cheaper than doing new binders. But, I agree that I like the old format better.

Tony, we had some discussion about the Disney Collection awhile back -- in some cases they even more than doubled. With the drastic price cutting WDW has done I think it's more important than ever to look at cash prices before using points.

Received my book today in the deep South - Louisiana! I like the large type (makes it easier to read with old eyes!) And I love all the pictures, esp the one on page 24! Did any members of this board have pic in the book?

OT - Do you imagine that this book cost less to produce than the individual pages that they used to send out? Since it is our money, I think that this is a legitimate question. If it has already been asked, I apologize for asking again.

We received our new book yesterday (Staten Island, NY) and my daughter and son received theirs in New Jersey. We all like to concise format and ease of use.

I do like the layout, although along with others, I'd have to agree the binding needs to be improved. Also, it does seem to me that it will be much more expensive to reproduce the entire book every year instead of printing just a few pages.

I've thought about why DVC might be printing the book every year instead of just a few pages. The only thing I could logically come up with is that perhaps some members may not actually insert the new point charts in their books upon receipt, thereby causing them to incorrectly calculate their point usage. When they call MS they are surprised with the actual points that they are charged. Maybe I'm way off base, but that thought crossed my mind.

The amazing thing is, I couldn't hardly pry it away from my DW. Usually, she thinks I'm nuts for thinking about next summer's vacation.....now she's starting to talk two and three years away!

I never received the old book, being a new member, but I think this member guide book is awesome. Wish it had more pictures of the inside of resorts, but there are plenty of those on the internet.

Our book came two days ago. It's not perfect, but I always hated the binder. I'm not sure why. I never easily found answers to my questions. This book seems like an improvement. I loved the fact that many of the pixs were from the earlier members photo contest (which I entered and did not win!)

Got mine's yesterday in California too! It's nice and easy to carry, but I do miss the tabs and the sheets for keeping track of your points. The calendar is a GREAT addition though. :) Overall, I do like it.
