Staying at DLP (Hotel Cheyenne) for 4 nights. 2 adults and 2 children (aged 9 & 2). Where would you recommend for eating out in the evening/late afternoon for dinner apart from the restaurant in our hotel?

Thanks for any suggestions?

Cape Cod at the Newport hotel.
Buffet restaurant, 25 EUR for adults and 10 or so for kids. Lots of good food, nice view on the lake.

The Plaza Gardens do a nice buffet, it is reasonably priced all things considered and even the most fussy eater can find something that they like. They gave smarty ice cream loolies to the kids for a sweet in July and my DS ate quite a few ! Several euros worth of lollies I seem to remember.

Annettes Diner or the Parkside Diner at the HNY are very nice.

In the park I'd go for Plazza Gardens which is a buffet and another vote for Annette's Dinner. At a push I think both your kids would prefer Annette's.

Does your 9 year old like Pirates of the Caribbean? As my son [now 12] absolutely fell in love with the Blue Lagoon restaurant on our first visit, he was just turning 10 then, and all the kids like it still- we ate there again in 2005. Pretty high favourite with all the family for the ambience more than the food.

We also recommend the Blue Lagoon. My DDs loved waving to people going past in their boats (until the novelty wore off :rotfl2: )

We were hoping to have an evening meal at the Blue Lagoon, but it looks like it might only be open in the evenings when the park is open until 11(ie in the summer) and we're going in April. Can anyone confirm / refute?

On this site http://www.dlpfoodguide.com/bluelagoon.html it says it is open to 7pm in low season which sounds about right for when the park shuts at 8pm. We always seem to spend ages over our meals so if it was me going I would book for 6pm. :)

Yes a number of restaurants close earlier when the parks are not open late.
Hakunta Matata shuts at 5pm :confused3

they have to make sure you don't spend too much money in the park, they might make a profit if thy let you spend a lot!

For information Hakuna Matata, Agrabah café, Buzz lightyear Pizza planet will be close if you do not come in summer.

May I suggest one restaurant I loved and which is a little be Hide ?

It's "La grange" at the Third floor of The Billy Bobs In Disney Village.

It is a buffet whith many Tex mex courses... And it will be more quiet as Cape Cod or Hotel restaurant ;) Enjoy your meal

Jérémy

Ps : Sorry for my english :s I promise I will perform it !

Jeremy, your English is excellent, definitely a great improvement on my French!

Others have recommended La Grange at Billy Bobs before and I hope we will get to try it out in the summer. All my family love buffet meals. :teeth:

I'll go for the Blue Lagoon. But I'll let the children to "discover" it, doing first a ride on the attraction Pirates of Caribbean, and seeing the restaurant from the boat. It's what we did at our first trip, not planned ad with a very little knowledge of the park: we "discovered" the restaurant doing a ride on the attraction, while people at restaurant was preparing tables. Right after we booked for the restaurant. It was nice.

we always go to Cafe mickey and planet hollywood, and they are great for children.
we went to the rainforest cafe once and my daughter loved it because of the themeing however we were not keen on the food ,it was just 0K. nothing special.
Also some younger children seem to find some of the sounds and moving animals quite scary and were quite upset.

Our favourites are the Blue Lagoon and Annettes...saying that we have never tried anywhere else other than these and the Rainforest Cafe (also very good for theming, so long as you can get your kids into the restaurant in the first place.... a long story!). We would love to try some other places, but we love these two so much we never end up anywhere else! Sad really!

Go for appetizer at one place, have your main course at a second place, and have dessert at the third..
Just an idea... ;)

Now that's a good idea for a trip report :rotfl2: Although I'd suspect I'd roll out the park.
