::MickeyMo Can anyone tell if the Charater Tea at Plaza Gardens Restaurant (3:00 - 4:30pm) is just cakes and desserts or does it include say food like salad, quiche, cold chicken or anything like that? Is there any not food/drinks? Is it buffet type food? Would it do for our main meal of the day, then just a lighter snack in the evening? ::MinnieMo

Thanks for any info.

Hi

We loved this!!!!! :goodvibes But it really was pretty much sweets and cakes - there were very nice yoghurts, a good selection of breads and really lovely fresh fruit salad. You did actually need the bread and fruit salad before you completely overdid the sugar intake!! I would really recommend it and we will go back this time!

We have character tea on every visit. It includes cakes, croissants, bread rolls, butter, cold drinks, tea, coffee, hot choc. No food, just tea time kind of things.... and lots of fun!! :goodvibes

Just wanted to add that even though it's not exactly food, we are always stuffed by the time we leave!

:goodvibes Sounds like it could be a nice way to end our trip to DLP before heading to the airport.

Thanks.

I thought you meant proper food!!! You know not cakes and sweet things, so I only listed the semi savoury things :rotfl: . The only hot things I remember were the drinks!

I remember the hot drinks too Kaye!!!! Here comes a story!! Last time we were there, I was walking back to my table with a HOT black coffee, when I tripped over someone's camera bag. The coffee tipped all over my forearm. I tried to pretend I was OK, as you do when you're embarrassed, but by the time I sat down my arm was stinging like hell!! I sent Lucy to the counter to ask for some Ice!! Instead of coming back with some Ice, she came back with one of the managers. Oh boy was I embarassed... and in pain!! They really made a fuss of me and took me through the back door, to the first aid room. The nurse spread a burn cream all over my arm and left it on for 15 minutes. In the meantime, Lucy was partying alone at the tea party, lol. When the nurse had finished with me, she gave me a tube of the cream to use and took me back to the plaza through the back door. The manager presented me with 2 vouchers worth 50 euros to use at any restaurant. I wasn't expecting that at all. :flower3:

Good to learn something new :) I'm not particulary fond of the idea of no "real" food but all of your views has made me think that this might be worth a try on our next visit.

dlpfoodguide web-site says opening hours: 11:30am until one before park closing. Seems to be open all year round.

Is it only at the afternoon tea that Characters appear though? ::MinnieMo

I love pictures of children enjoying chocolate !! - She is really cute Joanne

The only savoury thing I remember was the bread rolls , however it wouldn't put me off going back :teeth: DH and I halved a croque monseur on main st before going so together this made a healthy lunch (as in size - not balanced :rotfl: ). Only problem we had was DD was scared of the Characters

My boys love bread and butter so that might be a better "late lunch" as a change from chips! Is it french bread (DS6 calls it "long bread") or rolls?

If you think she will still talk to any of us afterwards we would love to see it. i ma not sure it is fair though

As to food they had 'real food' in december 2005 when we last visited. There was pizza, sausages in pastry, ham, cheese and bread rolls.

Just followed a link from Reid on another thread and found this gorgeous picture of your daughter Joanne UK .
I have been avoiding all the food threads because I am on a diet - so hadn't seen this before.
Oh well there goes my diet, I'm off to find some choclates. :goodvibes

Oh Joanne, what a gorgeous photo of Emily. princess:

Di, I am VERY disappointed that we will not now be seeing this photo of Rhiannon. :sad2:

The tea party does sound very good. I had also dismissed this as probably just cakes but I definitely like the sound of it. We had already decided to go to Plaza Gardens for dinner next summer, perhaps we will do the tea party too!
