I was also surprised at how my husband loved the characters. It was his first ever Disney experience.

Are those PhotoPass pictures? They are great quality - really clear! If they are PhotoPass, you should post them in that thread too.

Anyway, I LOVE the picture of your son touching Mickey's nose!! SO adorable. He looks very curious and inquisitive as he touches the nose, like he is thinking, "Who....IS...this....big....creature?"

Yes, these were all Photopass pictures (except the last 2 with Ariel and Captain Hook). Funny, our PP pics from DL seemed better quality than our WDW PP pics.

Yes, make sure to post those other PP shots over on the PP thread too, if you can. I know you just posted some different PP pictures there, but just in case people don't check this thread they can see all your great PP pictures there as well!

If you look at my DLR PhotoPass pictures (from October and December of last year, sprinkled throughout the Photopass thread thread), you will see that some have great quality and others do not. So that is why I was impressed with yours, as they all seem very crisp and clear and bright!

16 days till our trip & I'm trying to fill some time.....
Found these & thought I'd post them up:

From last March, Tigger got tired of waiting & came & grabbed my daughter from Eeyore...

This Alice had seen as numerous times on the trip & actually came off the POD float to talk with Anthony & "be-bop" his nose...
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a312/laemee/Disneylandday5c050.jpg

This picture means the most from that trip...Anthony hadn't seen Woody & my hubby took him over to Frontierland for the character greeting & was told they weren't able to do it, because they needed to get over to DCA for the Block Party Bash Parade. My son was very sad, & the CM went in & got Jessie to come out...well she also could tell how disappointed he was & when Woody walked by, she grabbed my sons hand & drug him thru the crowd to catch Woody. The escorts cleared everyone & let my hubby get a picture of the 3 of them & then off they went. (this was our last day in the park). I complimented all of them involved at City Hall. They really made his dream come true!!!

Do you have a (free) online Photobucket account or an account with some sort of image hosting site like Shutterfly, Webshots, etc.? Make sure you have an account like that first. Then, you upload your photos to that account (really simple - you will see the instructions on how to do it once you get on there). Then, after you have your pictures uploaded, you will look for what is called the IMG Code. On Photobucket, you will see a series of codes either underneath or to the right of your chosen picture. The IMG code should be the very last one, or the fourth one down. You click on that bar and copy (Ctrl C) the ENTIRE code. Don't leave any part of the code out. Copy the whole thing that appears in that bar. Then you come back here, start a new post in this thread and paste (Ctrl V) that IMG code into your post, and the picture should appear. Try it!

It's easy! You'll see. I am familiar with Photobucket so I can talk you through that. I am not as familiar with the other image hosting sites but they should all give you IMG codes somewhere or other.

That's small, how can I make it bigger??

Sherry E
02-21-2009, 08:02 PM
That's small, how can I make it bigger??

Well, when it uploaded to Photobucket, it either loaded at that small size OR you unknowingly edited it to be that size - more likely the former option and not the latter. So you just upload the picture again to your Photobucket account and make sure you look at the size options right near the Upload tab, and choose a larger size. Then that picture would have a different IMG code, which you would then have to copy, paste and replace the one you just posted. You'll get it - it's easy once you do it a few times!

SherryE, you have been helpful and my thanks to you.

That queen has style doesn't she??

The story on the tattoo is that my DH was my prince and while he was away at basic training I was *asleep*. I got my poison apple then and when he graduated he gave me my kiss!!! At least that's what we came up while he was being tortured in basic training!

I hope she will be out and about when we come in mid May. I love (not like) love her!!!

Rabbit is definitely rare - I think I have only seen him in DL maybe once in my 36 years of going there!! Definitely treasure that one. Even the Beast does not come out too often anymore. I think that costume is very hard for the CM inside it to handle!

Now I wish they would bring out Jiminy Cricket at DL. I saw my friend's picture with Jiminy from WDW in 2007 and even though Jiminy is a little odd-looking (because he is suddenly human-sized instead of tiny), it would be nice to get one photo with him because he IS so rare. I am sure I've seen him once at DL in my life and don't remember it, but that's about it!!

Ahhh...good point! If the odd-looking Jiminy were ever going to come out for a rare sighting in DL, it probably would be in conjunction with the release of the DVD or something Pinocchio-related!! Of course, by the time I get there again - and not sure when that will be - Jiminy will be back in his hiding place!

I would be blushing too! It's so sweet especially because Belle remembered what Anthony looked like. I'm sure over the course of your trip she saw so many little kids!

We saw them while we were eating lunch at the Hungry Bear! It was so random, they were just messing around downstairs in the eating area. They had scarves on because it was winter.

O.k., here's my all time favorite thus far. I have to tell the story though. My daughter is the one on in teh black jacket. This was her Sweet 16 trip in '06. After standing in line at PFF for what felt like forever and being slightly disappointed by the princesses in attendance, we were headed off to do something fun. The girls then decided that the guy on the right was way too cute. The guys were more than happy to pose and just as I was about to snap the picture, Snow White walked up and we convinced her to pose as well. She's my favorite. princess: Right on her heels was Aurora who is the kids favorite and Snow White got her to pose too. She's my daughter's fav and the one we had really been hoping to see while we waited in that awful line. :cloud9:

You should try uploading your pictures to Photobucket. It's free and it seems to be the easiest in terms of finding and posting the IMG codes for people to use on places like DIS. In other words, they don't care if you post pictures or links to pictures on public forums. Some of the other image hosting sites seem to not want links to images on their sites to be posted on other sites (Shutterfly even says something like that in their terms and condtions), and so it seems like they make it harder to find the codes for people to be able to do that. But on Photobucket, the IMG codes are right there and easy to copy and paste!:thumbsup2

LOVE THOSE^^^!!! First of all, I love Chip and Dale, but I also love it when you can look at photos and tell who the person or character is in a glance - meaning when you really get the essence of a person or character in a photo and no descriptions are needed. That doesn't always happen in pictures. But in these, and partly due to the great 'acting' of the CM's inside the costumes - you really get a sense of Chip and Dale's personality, and that they are mischievous and playful. Was that a PhotoPass location?

I completely agree. These two CMs aren't just wearing the costumes, but instead have become Chip and Dale. On an earlier visit, I literally had one of the two chipmunks jump out in an effort to scare me when I exited Tower of Terror. While it didn't work on me, I stayed and watched for another 10 mintues until they left and saw them scare many a guest.

When adults ask about meeting the characters, I often say that I have more fun doing this as an adult than I did when I was younger. As an adult, I appreciate just how in character they are. When I was younger, I viewed the CM as a person inside a costume making my visit enjoyable. As an adult, I see an actor becoming the character to make it real.

This location is the Disney Visa meet and greet location. There's always a photopass photographer there when the meet and greet is going on, but these pics were taken with my camera by the handler while I waited to go meet them.

I'm glad Photobucket worked for you!:thumbsup2 The signatures are easy. You just have to go into Photobucket and edit/resize the pictures you want to put in your signature to 'small' or 'tiny' (depending on how many pictures you want to add into your signature), or if you want to do just one big picture, you could resize to 'medium'. In any case, play around with it, and save the resized pictures as copies so you still have the original sizes intact. Then copy the new IMG codes for the resized photos into your signature here, side by side (and you can find the Signature section in the User CP section of DIS). The pictures I have in my signature below are resized to 'small,' and I was able to fit an extra one in there because I had a couple of portrait/vertical shots. If they had all been landscape/horizontal pictures, I may have only gotten 6 in there. I have seen other folks with their pictures resized to Tiny, and they can squeeze in at least 7. You can use the signature preview feature in the User CP to see how your signature and pictures will look, and correct it if there is something you don't like.

Anyway, I love this photo above^^^!! That is so great, and it's not something you see every day in pictures! That is priceless! That should go in the Spirit of DLR thread too, as well as here!!

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: Only if it comes with the characters and the full breakfast buffet too!:rotfl2::rotfl2: I can just imagine calling random home furnishing stores and asking for the 'Goofy's chic' line!! Actually, I like the Goofy's Christmas tree during the holidays because it is just slightly wacky looking, as it should be for Goofy, but it wasn't quite wacky enough! I think they toned it down because it's in the hotel, but if it had been inside the park, they could have done something more along the lines of the ToonTown decorations!! I would love to have a wacky Christmas tree!

If you don't already have a free Photobucket account, I would start there. Photobucket seems to be easier to use for posting pictures than some other image hosting sites. Upload whatever photos you want to use to Photobucket. When that is finished, you will see a series of 4 codes either underneath or to the right of each photo. The one you want is the IMG code (which is the 4th code down, the very last one). Click on/Highlight it and then Copy (Ctrl-C) the entire IMG code - don't cut any part of it out - and paste (Ctrl-V) it right here in your post. The picture should appear with no problem. It's easy - give it a try!

2 that I'd never seen before were:

Huge selection of characters this time.....only 3 didn't make it to our table!!!

This was taken the first Monday in November last year, directly in front of the waiting area for Aladdin in DCA (the show was on hiatus back then).

It's been said a zillion times, but Disneyland really does bring out the kid in us all. :dance3:

I couldn't agree more. My friends were very much amused to see me turning into a three year old. I had the time of my life during Halloween in the Hollywood backlot when the villains were out. I was happily running around getting my picture taken with every character that was out. They just set up camp on the next bench and let themself be entertained. ;)

This is one of my favorite shots from Halloween: Don Karnage from Tailspin.
http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n55/Queen_Sindel/Disney/don_kl.jpg

He was wandering around pretty aimlessly, I guess because nobody recognized him. Cue me walking around the corner. I squeaked: "Don Kanaille!" (that's the German character name) in such a happy voice and high frequency that the guy in my group actually jumped. :rotfl:

Because I was hanging around in the Backlot so often in the end the Evil Queen recognized me and got quite talkative. In the end she told me to "look evil" for a photo because we had gone through about every pose. Of course I failed miserably.

http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n55/Queen_Sindel/Disney/image0884_kl.jpg

This is another one of my favorite shots from last year. And kind of an example for "turning into a kid", or maybe for forgetting about your trouble.

Half through our stay I injured my foot. Couldn't put any weight onto it, couldn't walk, nothing. The hospital said it was a sprain and to keep things low for a couple of days. The hotel helped us rent an ECV, so I took some pain medicine and tried not to run anybody over with that thing.

We did have a reservation for the Lilo & Stitch breakfast which we missed due to my accident, so we went for breakfast in Goofy's Kitchen the next day so I had some distraction.

We had parked our car in the parking area upstairs of Goofy's and I swear, each and every time we had passed through Pluto had been in the photo area. But the morning we came in it was Baloo. Baloo was one of the characters I had really wanted to meet, and I had been heartbroken when he didn't appear at Storytellers when we had breakfast there. Of course I was totally over the moon.

http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n55/Queen_Sindel/Disney/image1036_kl.jpg

If it wasn't for the crutches you couldn't tell anything was off that day, right?

My friends were also very amused when they realized that I started posing just like the characters, most of the time without even realizing it:

Tinker Bell. I've always been a fan, and of course I was over the moon when Pixie Hollow opened the day before we got in. So on our first day (we had to move hotels) I was up at 6, we checked in into DLR shortly after 7 and then got in line for rope drop. We actually were front row and made a beeline for Pixie Hollow, only slightly distracted by pin lanyards. :rolleyes1

Anyway, I think the photopass graphic here pretty much sums everything up:
http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n55/Queen_Sindel/Disney/image0424_kl.jpg

Yours is a cool shot, too - now that's a pose she actually didn't do with me.

She's my favorite among the characters we met too. She is soooo good.

We've met her in 2007 for the first time, and by chance I only had princess pins on my pin lanyard. She noticed and sneered at me that this wasn't acceptable and I couldn't have my photo taken with her "wearing these". Of course I played along. I patted my pin bag, told her "keep the good stuff safe" and whispered "there's so many people who don't know what's good and they'll only trade for princesses." That pleased her and I was told "you can get as many photos with me as you want."

This year I had a photo that I took the year before with me to get signed (call me a geek, but some characters got a really kick out of it) and she congratulated me on my "good work" as if she was awarding a servant.

She's just brilliant.

I've met two different Queens out though.

At the villains photo stop at Mickey's Trick or Trat party last year Lady Tremaine and Cinderella's stepsisters were switching off with the Evil Queen. I was in line for Lady Tremaine when were were told the Queen was coming out instead. Of course I was all like :yay: because I had really hoped to see her again. And then it was not "my" Queen. She was good too, but not as good as the Queen we had our photos taken with:

She was good too, but not as good as the Queen we had our photos taken with:

http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n55/Queen_Sindel/image0558_kl.jpg

GEEK!!!! (jsut kidding:rotfl2:) That's is an awesome idea about taking the picture to get the autograph on!! Can I use it? And hope, cross my fingers, and cast a spell that the same Evil Queen will be there to sign.

I love hearing stories about how they got their pictures. It makes it more special doesn't it?

Vala

Absolutely, please feel free to use it! :goodvibes

It was just a spontaneous idea I had. I often go to science fiction conventions and the actors signing autographs there get a kick out of special items too, like when you ask them to sign a candid photo they hadn't signed 1000 times before. So I figured it would be the same at Disneyland, and I was right.

I'll cast every spell known to mankind for you that the same Queen will be back in May. :wizard:

Thankfully I'm back for Halloween this year, so I hopeuflly have a pretty good chance myself.

I love hearing stories about how everyone got their pictures too. But sometimes I'm a bit afraid I talk too much myself.

I've only asked one character for an autograph. It was Sleeping Beauty and I had her sign one of the lobby cards that the El Capitan Theatre had advertising the special screening of the film they did for the 50th Anniversary of the film. Not exactly an original item, but my card did have one unique thing to it.

The night before I had seen the film at the El Capitan and Mary Costa(the voice of Sleeping Beauty) had signed my card in the exact spot where this particular Sleeping Beauty normally signed pictures of herself. Realizing whose signature was there, and not skipping a beat, she told me that she would sign near the 3 Good Fairies and then commented that she wished they were there so I could have them sign the picture as well.

I actually don't have a picture of this time because I had taken a picture with a different Sleeping Beauty the night before and didn't want to deny somebody else a picture since she was in front of the Mickey floral before the parade and time was limited. I did get my autograph though.

http://booeyjc.smugmug.com/photos/139623574-M-1.jpg

I think your daughter is precious, and should definatley count as a character!

I am new to this board, lurking durning my planning for my first trip. Where are some of your favorite places to find characters?:goodvibes

One of the joys of Disneyland is that you can find the characters all over the park. While they do have some specific meet and greet locations ala WDW, you can also quite often find characters wandering about Main Street or in front of the Mickey floral by the park entrance.

You can also find characters in the Hollywood Pictures Backlot and near the front entrance of DCA. Most of the Pixar characters are found there, but Mickey and friends show up there quite often. On rare occasion, you can find a princess over there too.

I was wondering about this. I haven't gone to DL before but have to WDW more times than I can count. In WDW character greetings are done at scheduled times every day with usually pretty long lines...but all the pictures I have been seeing of characters at DL seem like they just walk around the park. This excites me  but by doing it this way is it actually easier to take pictures with them or harder because more people approach them?

In my experience, when the characters are out, they generally have some sort of line that forms by them. There usually is a CM with them that will form the line and tell you when they are getting ready to leave. Or sometimes they will cut off the line and not let anyone else in (when the characters have to leave.)

Vala

It's like Kayla's mom said.

Of course there's always someone who thinks they can bypass the line with their kids, but I guess that happens everywhere.

Last year a mom with her son was merrily ignoring the 15 people deep line to meet Donald. When I politely pointed out that there was a line she said "I paid a lot of money so that my son can see Donald." The matter was settled rather quickly when I told her: "So did I, but my mom did not help." ;)

I've seen some characters (mostly face ones) handle their own lines though. Cruella usually does, but I've seen Mrs. Incredible doing it to.

Sleepless Knight

Meeting characters at WDW and Disneyland is a Catch 22. While WDW lacks the spontaneity of Disneyland, at least you know that when you get in line at WDW you will see the character. I have had multiple experiences when I've gotten in line to meet a character at the DLR out and about in the parks and the character has to go on break.

The CM handlers and/or face characters will usually tell you when they'll be back, but sometimes(such as the princesses in front of the Mickey floral) when they're gone, they're gone. The best thing to do is to get in line and if you find out they have to leave, ask when they'll be back and then return to that spot a few minutes early(thus being ready to jump in line as soon as they show up). I remain convinced that Disneyland character lines, even if you have to go back a second time, are shorter than WDW character lines(not counting the Princess Fantasy Faire and the Pixie Hollow areas).

Thanks for dusting this thread off perlster.

These require some backstory.

The first picture is taken inside the main building of Pixar Animation Studios.

http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa290/tomservo1976/Disneyland%20August%202008/KIF_1228.jpg

When I saw Sulley walking through DCA 2 months later, I told him that I got to visit Pixar once and that it was a great place. While I continued on my way, I soon heard loud stomping noises behind me. I turned around to find Sulley following me with a small army of kids behind him. The handler informed me that I had to follow Sulley to his picture spot and that he wanted me to be first in line.

http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa290/tomservo1976/Disneyland%20August%202008/DSC_0081.jpg

When I thought it was time to go(this whole exchange was running on five minutes or so at this point), I was told that Sulley wanted to take some special pictures.

http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa290/tomservo1976/Disneyland%20August%202008/DSC_0080.jpg

And then he gave me a hug, which is kind of tough to see considering Sulley's size.

http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa290/tomservo1976/Disneyland%20August%202008/DSC_0077.jpg

I'm still not sure why he was so excited because I'd been to Pixar once. Maybe he thought I said that I worked at Pixar, but either way it was a lot of fun.

I hope you find him. When I saw him, he was in the HPB area of DCA, which is where I think he usually is when he's out. Be aware that I don't believe he does the scare pose all the time, so you may have to do something like get really excited or have a MI pin or something like that.

So I feel that I should tell you that I have a strange obsession with the Mad Hatter, especially the ones in Disneyland. I was videos on youtube of them on a daily basis. (Don't judge, I'm a college stupid on summer vacation!) I was on vacation to San Diego this past July to visit my best friend so, of course, I made her take me to Disneyland. I spent a whole day trying to find the Mad Hatter and alas, I couldn't. That night I went to bed disappointed, but I was determined to find him the next day. The next day (July 17) was going to be a sad day for me cause it would have been my 4 year anniversary with my boyfriend that I just broke up with a little while before. That morning, we ran into DCA to get on Soarin' and TSM. Around 12:30, I had a feeling that I wanted to get over to DL, so I made my friends run across to DL. As soon as we came out of the tunnels, who did I see? THE MAD HATTER!:love: (Squishy Hatter, if anyone is interested) This particular hatter is my absolute favorite. I ran, actually ran, across the hub to where he was. (I'm sorry if I happened to maul over young children. I'm kidding! :rolleyes1) That afternoon I saw him play musical chairs, and he still remembered me! :cloud9: Needless to say, the rest of my day, scratch that vacation, was amazing.

On my most recent visit to DL back in Nov '08, I didn't find him at all. Seems like I must try harder next time;)

Over 10 posts for me, so I should be able now to take part of the fun.

Here are my current signature pics: Me with Tigger, another huge favorite of mine besides Baloo, taken 11/18/2008:

Thanks so much! Hopefully this works...

Okay, I am going to try posting my first picture!
My little sister's absolute favourite ever is Eeyore. On our first day there a couple years ago, we saw the line up at Pooh Corner wasn't very long, so we jumped in right away. Sister kept saying how much she wanted to hug Eeyore, but she was too nervous. There was a group of boys in front of us who kept tugging on poor Eeyore's ears, and you could tell he was not impressed, so when we got there we all just stood next to him, and then he looked at my sister, covered his mouth like he was surprised, and gave her a huge hug! He even gave her a little Eeyore kiss on her cheek! She was absolutely elated - I think it was the highlight of the trip for her!

This is from our trip last Feb when DS was 14m old. He has a little stuffed Eeyore that he sleeps with, but I wasn't sure how he would react to seeing a much much bigger Eeyore at the Breakfast with Minnie and Friends. But DS was so excited to see Eeyore that he didn't want to stop snuggling him! Eeyore was great - super patient, and kept coming back to see DS even while we ate.

My son didn't know what to think with Briar Fox! He had snuck up behind him and was stealing my son's food and other belongings. When DS moved away, Briar Fox stole his seat. It was great!

I had never seen Cruella in the park before. She was commenting on how strange children were, and my son in particular. What was that strange disease on his face? Would she catch it? :rotfl:

Again, first time we had ever seen Peter Pan in DL! We were in line for Casey Jr. and I saw him hiding behind the Dumbo ride - there was no one around him. Peter saw me notice him and I pointed him out to DS. Peter motioned for DS to hurry over. Peter and my son chatted about finding Tink and getting to Neverland. It was great - no one even noticed what we were doing. Later in the day when we saw Tink, DS passed on the message that Peter was looking for her. How cute! :cutie:

My friend calls this the: "I may be leaning away from you but I'm smiling so I'm not threatened by you" picture.

Most of my good character pictures were taken on other cameras, and I'm too lazy to download them to my computer, then upload them to photobucket and then on to here. I got tired just typing that!

Hi!!Family fun weekends was a promo that Disneyland ran in jan/feb/and march. I know that my family had missed the first 2. But basically they brought out a bunch of unseen characters in the festival area behind the ranch. The 3 we went to were chinese new year...character fan picked meet and the mardi gras(this one didn't really pan out well and we didn't get to meet characters..) I sure hope they do something like this again. right now they are running a pirates promo where they had all the festivities going on! :thumbsup2

Here are my favorites from our trip last week. Cinderella is my DD's favorite princess, and she was over the moon.

Back from a magical 4-night stay at the DLH.

Was quite surprised when just a few minutes after check-in I saw my favorite, Baloo wandering through the lobby of the Fantasy Tower and walking towards Goofy's Kitchen in the afternoon. He stopped for a quick picture and a hug. Unfortunately, that was the only time I saw him. Missed him at Goofy's Kitchen.
