So nice to find others going. I thought I was going to have the whole ship to myself LOL. I will be traveling with my DD (5 yrs) and, if the waitlist clears, a friend and her 6 yr DD.
Counting down the days! :hourglass

Judy- any luck on your rooms yet?

:wave2: So I guess it's just the 10 or so of us going? Judy from Britain, The Iowa gang, the birthday girl and my DD and myself. :goodvibes
Anyway, we are still hoping for a cancellation so my friend and her 6yr DD can go. According to Disney Cruise, they are maxed out in the Oceaneer Club.
We are from New Orleans and are escaping Mardi Gras. My DH wants to stay here to see what the "new" Mardi Gras will be like. I am taking advantage of my DD's school holiday to travel. I love cruising in mid to late February. We've been on many cruises and my DD is an avid sailor already.

That would be great if that would be true but the is 10 in our Iowa gang alone. I am sure we will all have a blast even if the is more.

So how cold is it in Iowa during the time we are on our cruise?
I'm in New Orleans so we've been having pretty warm temperatures like in the mid 70s a lot lately. My guess is that the Bahamas will be running a few degrees warmer than what our temps are.

Its about 40F here in Britain, cold damp and chilly with frost at night Brrrrrrrrrr.
:cold:
Can't wait till we fly out to the US on the 16th Feb. :woohoo:
No room assignment yet - please send some pixiedust: my way
Have booked Palo for lunch on our last day :rainbow:
..looking forward to joining you all.

I didn't even think about doing lunch at Palo..maybe I'll add that once I get there.
We are in a gty cat 8 and hoping for upgrade to a verandah, but just want to be on a higher deck than 1 or 2. I always like cruising on higher decks.
Looking forward to meeting you Judy....what cat. did you guys book? What part of England are you from? Northern, middle, southern? I have friends in various places there, but haven't visited any other places but Lowestoft in N.? or E.? Anglia and, of course, London.
We keep wanting to go over, but the exchange rate was so bad for so long.

Hi Zoesmama,
We are from a small village in South Cheshire, called Audlem.......check out our web site ; http://www.audlem.org/
(for some nice pictures click on "Information", "The Village", then "Gallery")
Located about 20 miles south of Chester, 40 miles west of Manchester and just above the Potteries area of England (ie. Stoke on Trent , where Wedgewood and many other english pottery firms are located).
We booked Palo for lunch as we did not want to miss evening meal with our kids.............although I'm sure they'd be more than happy to stay in the kids' clubs, as they are both the sociable types ! :yay:
Shame about you not getting over to the UK more often, but I can't complain about the exchange rate can I ? :rolleyes1

It is a high of 30 degrees today and we have a couple inches of snow on the ground. I am very much looking forward to heading south about now. Anything above 60 would be great with us.

Audlem...I will check out website. I have friends that live in Worcester I think. I think that is near you as they sent me a lovely porcelain pendant which was from their region. They lead jazz tours and come to New Orleans every year except this one. They didn't get enough participants due to the bad press we got after Hurricane Katrina. It's a shame as the French Quarter is looking and smelling great (LOL) and the best restaurants are open.
If you had an extra few days you should visit while you are here in the US.
Anyway...no sign of my friend's waitlist clearing, but we won't give up hope.

:cheer2: Checked my res last night and I got my GTY assigned and got an upgrade to a Cat. 7!! I'm thrilled with it. I wanted a verandah and am ok with the Navigator style. Also I'm on deck 5 which is close to the Oceaneer's Club meaning I can sleep an extra whole 5 minutes! :cool1:
My friend is still waitlisted, but I am hopeful still.
jdybnsn
01-25-2006, 03:31 AM
Zoesmama....great news about your upgrade !! :woohoo: :cheer2:
I checked my ressie but we have the cat11 we booked......I'm not complaining as I am just glad to be on the ship, as it is an 'add on' to our main holiday and something I never thought we'd have afforded to do if it wasn't for the excellent rate we were offered by Dreams Unlimited.:goodvibes
My partner is getting concerned though about being too claustaphobic in an inside cabin (now he tells me !) but we don't intend to spend too much time there so I hope he won't get himself too stressed out about it.
I'm getting really excited now :Pinkbounc - just had our flight tickets today so it is starting to become 'real' .......not just a day dream. :cloud9:
Sending you some :goodvibes .....in the hope your friend & DD can join us.

Judy I would call now and see if they can move you...maybe for a a little more money you could get a cat. 9 now which would give you a window.
Good luck.
jdybnsn
01-26-2006, 10:06 AM
We have called and we cannot move unless we upgrade to another cat 10 for $500 (!) or spend $600 for a cat 9.........
We are having to think about it as I've said before, this is really an add on to our main holiday so it will be hard to justify spending any more $ on this. :sad2:

Had all these pros and cons figured out and then my computer went bonkers so I lost all that I typed.
I say go for it or save the money and spend it on me LOL.
How often are you going to do this particular vacation? If this is a once in a lifetime or once every few years go for it. The exchange rate probably makes it more affordable too...right? I always like to have at least a window and like to order breakfast via room service and watch the world from the port hole/window while leisurely enjoying breakfast and getting ready.
Otherwise with an inside room I always feel like I'm missing something and then feel rushed to get out. And once you are out of the room it gets busy with the room steward cleaning etc. That opportunity to just relax goes out the window...oops if you had one. LOL.
So go for it....I'll buy you a daiquiri.

Judy...yeah..I'm so excited. I will buy you a daiquiri, a black and tan or a BBC whatever you want.
You will be pleased with a window to the world. Now you get a surprise when you get cabin assignment. What idea sold you on the upgrade? Was it the leisurely breakfast in bed routine?
In answer to mmlover in ia no we are not going to the parks THIS time. We will take a leisurely drive over to our hotel in cape can. and spend the night beforehand then make our way over to the port. Now debating renting car or just taking limo from airport to hotel. Will see how much money I make this month at work and revisit the budget.
After going through the hurricane from hell this year you start to rethink all of your "what ifs" and "maybe one days" and they become "why the heck not". Because it could easily have been one of us on a rooftop for days or drowning.

Patience...it'll be good...I bet. :wizard: When are you leaving?
The weather has been so warm lately. We had 75degrees F today - WOW. I bet we have a very warm cruise which will be great.
I have had such a hectic and stressful last few weeks that I can not wait to go. I think I will get a Rainforest pass for the spa and try out those relaxation chairs. Any idea how that works?

01-30-2006, 09:53 PM
hey mm lover...thanks for asking, but no and I'm afraid that by the time it clears she may not be able to get airfare. We have fewer flights in and out of here these days. We used to have over 150 flights a day and now it's half or so. Of course that is Mardi Gras weekend so maybe they add flights when they think it may be busy.
We are escaping Mardi Gras madness, but will enjoy a few parades the day or so before we leave. My husband is staying to work and play. He wants to see what it will be like this year. I was around in the 70s when the police had a strike and they moved Mardi Gras completely to the suburbs. That was interesting. I remember KISS was a guest talent in one of the parades.
Way back when... :)
Less than a month to go :cool1: Ordered dd a pirate costume pirate: for the party.

We got our kids pirate costumes the day b4 halloween when our costume store had everything on sale. I guess they were not very popular costumes this year for kids, lots of cute ones.

Looks to be in a much quieter spot than below the ship's night club !.... so that's a relief :cloud9:
I think I might do a post later on the dis board to see if I can find out any more about this cabin.....this may not be a good idea....sometimes its better to go without any preconceptions ... :magnify: What do you think ?
