I'm still planning mine for January. In fact, the recent problems actually has my sister planning a not before scheduled trip because of the smaller crowds.

My 8yo son is a little squeamish about flying which I expected, but I know that'll be better by January.

I'm still going. I just have to make an excuse that I am doing "board research." :)

I am still uneasy about flying too!!! We have not decided yet if we should still go, I just know it will be a long flight, or at least seem that way for sure.

SherryfromOK,
I'm not so much afraid of flying,as I never have been.I think now, with all the new security, this will be,hopefully,a safer time to travel. My husb and I will be travelling with our two teenage daughters, who, before all this, would get on a plane without so much as a second thought. Now I know they'll been nervous,in spite of our reassurance.
If all goes well,we'll be in Orlando for Christmas.
Wishing all my fellow DIS Discussion Forum friends,a safe journey and stay while in Orlando.

No plans have changed for me. Driving to BGT October 5th.
I'm flying to St. Louis October 18th. Don't have fear of flying, but have a fear of getting thru the airport and being hassled at the check points.
I have a contact lens cleaner that heats a lens case, it plugs into the wall. I always get stopped and have to open my bag because they see the plug going to a square box. They'll probably go thru my entire bag once they see the contact lens heater. I'll get to the airport real early so I can check in. What will make me feel better is if the pilots lock the cabin door and don't come out. That's what they're talking about on the radio here in the states. Sure, someone can still go nuts in the passenger cabin, but at least they can't take control of the plane and crash it into a building. Once I'm on board the plane, and that cabin door is locked, I'll be fine.

I will still be going on the 25th of October to the 27th. I CAN NOT WAIT TO GO!!! I have been anticipating this trip for some time now, and since these recent tragedies, I have never wanted to go more!! I have been in a semi depressed state, and even at times have trouble sleeping. I need something to take my mind off the world. I need it bad.
Going to theme parks, not just in Orlando is needed bad also. Go!! Our economy needs it! It would be a shame to see a major theme park chain, or individual park close because of a couple of nut cases. I hope I have gotten my point across.

THANKS

I am a cruise vessel captain and share the safety concerns of passengers, as well as other professionals in the transportation industry. Security is much tighter now as a result of what has happened, and I am totally convinced that travel is much safer now than it was before 09/11/01. Just before these terrible events, my family planned a vacation to USF/IOA/HRH in March of 2002. We see no reason to change our plans. Life will go on, and we will continue to enjoy our freedoms. God Bless the USA.

I just got back from IOA and WDW. Stayed at HRH and there were no problems flying. As a matter of fact, I felt security could have been tighter! No passenger that I saw was physically searched. I saw only one bomb/drug sniffing dog. I could have easily smuggled some sort of germ warfare or plastic explosive on me. My grandboys were also allowed in the cockpit after we landed, allowed to touch controls and I was allowed to take pictures.

My intention by no means is to frightened anyone because I for one will be flying again soon. I don't intend to live my life in a cocoon.
