So, who are the other DVC owners among us? I know I have met several people on the DVC boards. Was wondering who might be hear.
We own points at VWL (Villas at the Wilderness Lodge) and a tiny contract at OKW (Old Key West).

... who was going to be the one to call us DVC'ers out.
Member since 2002, and own at BVC.
We have been members since 1998 and own at both BCV and BW, 150 points each. It's only been the last year where we've also branched out and started to pay cash for some trips, including the one at AKL coming up in August.

Our next trip is in December 2006 after a DCL cruise. I am going to book VWL at the 11 month window and then try for either BCV or BWV (we're in the mood to try something new).

300 points at SSR (160+ a 140 add-on, all in 2005; just show us a bargain!) though we've yet to see WDW. Walking up to that kiosk "Let's just look," at DL was a dangerous thing!
Our first trip Home will be in 14 days. We're staying at OKW for a few days following a quickie on the Wonder.
And, of course, we're already talking about a small contract at VWL or elsewhere. I think we've managed to convince ourselves that we should wait until we've actually been there before making any other purchases....'think' being the operative word. How do we tell Cabo & Puerto Vallarta that we've found another vacation destination?

We bought 150 points at BWV (resale) in September, to "pre-pay" our honeymoon next October . . . we're getting married 10/7/06 and honeymooning on DCL.
Can't wait that long for some Pixie Dust, so we're booked at the Pop Century in March!

The first time we stayed at WL (before the Villas were built), both of us thought it was a lot like being at Timberline Lodge on Mt. Hood...well, except for the skiing on the glacier part! :earsboy: We love the feel of it, but bought at BWV instead to be close to Epcot and the Studios (we need our afternoon breaks).

Tony -- It is a lot. But we do have a long term goal of trading out for the African Safari.
We share the OKW and VB with my parents, but I see us getting full control of them sooner than later. We used points to go on the DCL May Repo cruise to California, a couple of visits to Disneyland -- somehow we figure out how to use them.
We did rent our 2005 Use Year out to others to help recover the costs of obtaining the SSR contracts and a rather hefty onboard bill from the May Cruilse.

We have 225 points at SSR, and that's after my 75 pt add on this past summer. All of our '06 points are already used, and I think I'm only going to have 20 left to bank in '07. I've got add-on-itis really bad, but I think we're going to hold off doing another add on until we have a "little souvenir" to take with us (in other words, we've got a few years, LOL).

My partner and I have 210 points in the Beach Club since 2002. We are going on our first Disney Cruise on January 28th, 2006. Any tips that you have would be very welcome. Would especially like to know about the possibility of other gays/lesbians being on our Cruise. We are a little nervous about being identifed as a gay couple and being given grief because of it. My partner will absolutly not wear a dress and keeps asking me if she will look too "dykie" wearing pants and a shirt. Is it mandatory that a woman wears a dress during a dress up dinner?

Check out the cruise thread as part of this forum. You should not have any problems and no, women do not have to wear a dress. I do not wear dresses, but do wear nice pant suits. We have met other gays and lesbians on every Disney cruise we have been on and have become friends with some of them over the years.

We did the DCL cruise in 2001 with my stepdaughter and her partner - absolutely no problem at all on the dress-up nights. The point of the night is to "dress up", not to "wear a dress".

Hi Everyone
When did they start the Gay and Lesbian thread?
I own at the VWL, 350 points here.
I wish I had 680 points, WOW !
I am single and gay. I need a partner to afford more !
I go to Disney with gay and straight friends, gay and straight family members.
I will be going next to VWL and BCV at the end of May thru the beginning of June with one of my best friends.
And then next for the first two weeks of December with other friends at the BCV.
I wish I could live at Disney.
I can't afford the 5000 points or more.
My friends and I would live in OKW if we could.
If OKW would only go condo.
If your ever at the VWL, and you hear growling noise coming through the wall, its probably me snoring and not the Bears !

Phil, the Gay and Lesbian forum started a few weeks ago. Welcome!
We're VWL owners as well. We'll be down there from Dec 14 - 22. I had thought we were going to try to stay at BCV, but my other half, Hisselfness announced today that we should stay part of the time at VWL and part of the time at BCV. He surprised me as I never thought he'd want to move resorts. So, tomorrow morning, I will have finished booking VWL for the entire time and then in May start trying to get some of the nights at BCV.

Hisselfness and I made a decision this week to become BWV owner since we like the area so much. We've purchased a small BWV resale and will be selling our equally small OKW contract (bought cheap, so it all comes out as a wash).
I guess now we can have the best of both worlds with a VWL and a BWV set of points. Plus the dual identity thing will also work in our favor.

Good Heavens no - you will have no issues what so ever!! My GF and I hold hands, and are what we like to call socially demonstrative (no, we don't make out yadda, yadda, yadda). We have found the staff are mostly gay, and there is really no problem. I do suggest you try the surreal thingy (GF convinced me - what a BLAST!) it is mud play for grownups - he he he.
I am DVC since 2001 200pts at Vero and 210 at Beach Club. The GF is also DVC (OKW and VWL I think - she shares them with her mom) we all travel together and have never had a problem with bias.

150 VWL
100 BCV
250 SSRS
Now if I could just find someone with their own 500 points, it would make an even 1000 to play with...I'm using points to stay in NYC this summer for 4 nights with my daughter to see Wicked and toodle around. I have had some really great vacations since joining in 2001 and looking forward to many more.

We LOVE VWL, but stayed at BCV for New Year's Eve and liked the neighborhood. The small contract will allow us to take advantage of the Epcot area from time to time, when we're not frolicking in the woods.

We own at both Villas at Wilderness Lodge and Boardwalk Villas. Love em both and it gets better all the time....take a peek:
Just three years back, with a FLA discount, I booked $99 rooms at Animal Kingdom lodge. Even got savannah views! Now...they quoted me an "off season" rate in the $300's per night. Outrageous! The on property prices are just going through the roof unless you stay at a place other than a deluxe property. Makes the DVC a better and better value.
As long as we're on the topic...any bad experiences? I stayed for 5 nights at OKW...and was very disappointed. Mold in the shower and on the windows. Carpet dirty, burned and smelly. Bugs...even IN the cofeemaker! The moved me but the next room wasn't much better. I was shocked as they are usually so perfect. Any other bad experience stories?

WElcome Boston! You will join all of us (I am sure) in saying this is the best purchase you have ever made!!!
In repsonse to someone asking about bad experiences: Saratoga Springs...we stayed there during the phase one opening - the construction was horrible (expected) the floors were filthy, the rooms moldy, dusty and buggy (as you noted) and the staff uncaring. That was the worst part. My hunnies grandmother fell off the toilet and fractured her hip - that was the beginning of the end for her - she ultimately died partially from that injury. I have a bad taste in my mouth for Saratoga unfortunately.

Bought 250 pts at BWV spring 2006. Planning my 50th birthday trip with my friends(most of whom are disney virgins) the first week of January 2007. If you are at wdw on Jan 5, stop by Jellyrolls where I will be celebrating with everyone that nite. If you have never checked out Jellyrolls, you should. I went there on my own in January and was so welcomed by their incredible staff, that I ended up going back 10 nites in a row(and I don't even drink). I haven't had this much fun since I was in college in the 70's.

I bought into DVC before my 50th birthday last year and threw myself a 50th birthday party/dinner in WDW. Friend came down and I took eveyone to Jiko's for dinner. I wish I had bought in when I was 40 (like I wanted to but a certain person who I've been with for 19 years talked me out of it :))

Since I go to Orlando for meetings often, I arranged to have my company purchase shares. (Luckily, I am the company :) ) Now I charge my clients market hotel costs when I go there for work and my clients pay for my timeshare. Woohoo! I usually have points to spare, so let me know if anyone needs to buy extras for a special holiday.

Hi all, New to these forums,
We have our home base at VWL. We have also stayed at SSR and OKW. We recently added more points at VWL to get a one bedroom each time we go.
We were at OKW in June for gay days, and Flower and Garden, and are going again for our annual trip in Oct, for Food and Wine.
We are from California and get to Disneyland about once a month.

Hmm - Frank - you said you get to DL once a month??? I am a pin collector/trader and would love to have a contact to purchase new release pins for me - I would send money in advance of course if you were willing. This is the occosional thing since I collect Winnie the Pooh exclusively.
Hunny and I are going to be at F&W in Oct - then the DVC cruise - who all is going on that????

We are going to be at F&W also in Oct. Staying at VWL. We have traded pins in the past, usually bringing park specific pins to trade from DLR at WDW. We are not pin traders in the sense that others are, so we are not well informed on what to look for. However, if you know a certain pin is being released at DLR, we'd be more than happy to look for it. The other half always stops at the pin displays to see what he likes.

I take it you are from so-cal since you hit DLR once a month. I'm from no-cal in the Santa Cruz area. I've thought of going to Gay days w/ 2 of my friends or possibly going solo at some time. Was it unbelievably hot and crowded at that time? We've always gone in late Dec. early Jan. and love the weather then. I'd like your feedback. Thanks, Ed.

This past June for Gay Days, it wasn't too hot to enjoy the parks, but it does sap your energy faster. The place is crowded but not unbearable.
We usually go in Oct. for our big trip. Less crowds, and better weather, plus the water parks are still open then.

My ex and I bought at Old Key West back in '96 (think we paid $68 a point, or something ridiculous like that). I've always said that the best sales pitch I could ever make for DVC was that even after we moved to Orlando, we wouldn't sell it. We still use it regularly when we have family in town. Count me among the OKW fans :)

I guess I'm going to have to give OKW another try sometime. The one time I stayed there the room was smelly, mold/mildew in the bathroom including on the windows, burnt and worn carpet, bugs in the coffeemaker, and other issues. They moved me, but the next room wasn't much better. That was just this past Spring...so I'll have to try it again.

What a wonderful offer!!! Thanks, there are no new limited edition Pooh pins coming out this weekend - I will keep you in mind for future releases if you don't mind :)
The only new Pooh pin I see in the near future is a rack pin that is going to be released this week at WDW as well as DLR so I will trade for it in 2 weeks!
I can make the same offer - any pins coming out the week after Labor Day that anyone can't live without?
I will be at the pin event in Epcot for 4 days trading my little heart out!! It is going to be really fun! If anyone is interested in any Walt pins specifically the ones from the event - please send me an email - we can work it out I am sure. The pins can be seen at http://www.dizpins.com/events/2006_event/pins.htm

I have about 30 or more Tigger pins...but that's a TIGGER thing :tigger:, not a Disney pin thing. I think maybe on the TransAtlantic cruise in May---when we're out to sea for days at a stretch in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean---that Padalyn (who is also booked on the TransAtlantic...YEAH!! :cheer2: :cheer2: ) will have to teach a brief seminar on all things pins to bring Jason and I into the fold!! :lmao:

I am "not allowed" to acquire any more mugs. At least pins are small enough to be kept in the main house. My poor mugs are relegated to Rubbermaid containers in the basement. :guilty:

Oh my - I am still new to pin trading myself - however - my "mother-in-law" who I am traveling with is an expert! My hunny got me into this - it is actually a lot of fun...when I went to WDW alone I actually spent a HUGE amount of time just wandering the parks looking for pins I didn't have. I collect Pooh - but also will just trade pins for the sake of "trading up". I am sure there will be other traders onboard as well. I am not planning to bring my trade books along due to the weight thing (the 2 weight over 15 pounds together) I have much better uses for the weight allowance. I will bring some pins to trade from lanyards, but the cruise staff seldom wear them.
As far as space goes...well - I have about 15 frames on the walls and am out of space. Between the art (Michael Godard is AMAZING!!!) and the Willardson I bought on the Panama cruise, and the Cirque du Soleil posters (8 of 'em), and the Lenox collectables - well you get the picture (pun intended!) - if you want to see a great set of paintings try www.dontdrinkanddraw.com (yea that is the website). Michael Godard started as a graphic artist, and somehow he began painting - he has work at the Whelan gallery at the BWVs if one wants to see them personally. I like the olive art - take a look!
Does this mean I have to buy a bigger place? My condo is 2 bedrooms with huge wall space. (one wall is 40 feet long - and covered!!!)

OOOH Padalyn I like you more and more all the time! Are you a Cirque du Soleil nut, too? I absolutely ADORE them! We have a bunch of Cirque posters in our condo as well. Which shows have you seen?
I've seen tons.....and, in fact, I have some personal connections with the Cirque world. I am a former gymnast (still a part time gymnastics and tumbling coach to this day, actually) and I have many friends who have performed in Cirque shows...and I also work professionally in the field of queer health and HIV---and through that work I have also had opportunity to meet and work with Matthew Cusick, the out gay and HIV+ gymnast was was discriminatorily fired by Cirque because of his HIV status and challenged them and won.
We're gonna have tons of fun talking on the cruise!! :)

HE HE HE - I think more of a fanatic would be a better description!!! I have seen:
La Nouba (of course!)
Alegria
Corteo
Delirium (GO SEE THIS SHOW!!! AMAZING!!!)
Dralion
Ka
Mystere
O
Varekai
I will miss Saltimbanko - since it is closing in Brazil - I have waited for 5 years - it will not be returning to the USA. I just can't find the time to fly there for the show. Plus the expense. :(
I did find out - there is a new show they plan to roll out in the spring - so I am waiting with bated breath!!
I highly reccomment Delirium and Ka if I had to pick 2 of the shows as MUST SEE. Ka is amazing - the stage cost $250,000.00 (yes million) to build - the show just blew my mind. I was babbling for hours about it!
Delirium is about the music - all the music. We are planning to see it again in Nov when it comes to NJ. Maybe we should all go together? If I recall correctly you are in Rochester???

Very cool! Yes we're in Rochester, NY. I've seen La Nouba, Alegria, Corteo, Mystere, O (my favorite), Quidam and Varekai. My friend was in the original production of Varekai and was on that Bravo TV Reality show "The Fire Within" (I think that is what they called it) that was all about the making of that show.
There is a Cirque rip-off show comign to Upstate NY in Nov. that we might go see. It's called "Cirque Dreams: Jungle Fantasy" but I don't think it's affiliated with Cirque du Soleil in any way....but we still might go see it because it looks to have similar staging, acts, etc.
I really want to get to Las Vegas and see Zoomanity, too.

Wow. You must be the original Cirque fan. There's a Chinese version coming too... Cirque something or other, not affiliated with the now original franchise.
Zumanity in Vegas is tres interesting. It is, in fact, the only one I've ever seen. The guy that bends his body into various pretzel shapes really creeped/freaked me out. It was like a science fiction movie in real life. I paid extra for front row seats. I'm glad I didn't have a full stomach.
I'll admit it was interesting, though not as .... ahem ... as they bill it in Vegas. Pretty much the same thing as everything else but with the inclusion of a lesbian kiss and a couple guys holding hands.
I'm not a real fan of the franchise, but it was fun... and the theater was TRES AWESOME.

I do need to get back to Vegas - Zumanity does interest me - but I want to see KA again...amazing!! Plus a story line that is truely easy to understand. I was so lucky - I went to a class that the government paid for - they paid my airfare and hotel...I got to see as many shows as I could fit in. Thus the 3 I did see. I wasn't up for 3 shows in a row. I saw O then was out of the city for 5 days, then saw the others. The 3rd would have been overload :)
This year alone I have seen 5 shows. that is enough for a while (HA!! Believe that and I will sell you a bridge - cheap!)
Last year at the Party for the Senses the La Nouba characters were there - it was VERY neat getting to see them up close and personal. The guy on the unicycle is SOOOO short!! I am 5'5" and I towered over him.
I thought about seeing the knock-off show Jungle Dreams, so far I haven't.
Psychometrika - I saw your tag line...how many calories? well - lemme tell you about a NEW krispy treat I found at the MK. It was about 12" (yea a foot) across!! It took me a week to eat it all!! I may have overdosed...I am not sure. Took almost that long to get over the sugar high (HE HE)

I want to say thanks for reminding me about the Corning Glass thing..we did go - it was fun - we got to make sandblasted glasses...well - hunny managed to find a way to make mickey's from the stickers they provided!! So, we have very personal tumblers for sipping a "beverage" from!!
If you do decide to come this way to see Delirium - please let me know I am definately going to see it again. It is in E Rutherford for 2 nights in Nov (8 and 9 I think).
I also forgot Quidam - I have seen it (in Phili this summer). I have seen 10 of the shows (I think htere are 13 total now)
Your friend was in "the fire within"? that is SO cool. I am so non-athletic it is sad. I used to work out a lot - but got old and lost interest. Now I just think about it and get tired...plus working 60hr a wekk doesn't help
