We will be going to WDW the end of Feb and was wondering if they have new scrapbook items? We were there in Feb of 2004 and it seemed like they were just starting to set up the store in Downtown Disney which had a small assortment. I did get the paper pack, some stickers and mickey scissors. Was wondering if they had any punches and new scissors. Sorry if this has already been asked.

When I was there in October...they had the castle punch, mickey head punches, stitch punch, several paper packs, park themes paper packs, eyelets, and a few stickers. Not a lot....but of course I felt compelled to buy most of it! lol

Was there last month. Scrapbook store in DTD continues to be a huge disappointment! All that beautiful space, so little merchandise! And, so much of the little bit of merchandise is NOT scrapbook related (coloring books for kiddies, postcards, etc.). Waaah! I continue to find much, much better stuff in places such as the stores on Main St. in MK and in the big resort gift shops (bought the most nifty stuff in the store in the Contemp). I cannot for the life of me figure out, though, why they generally carry so little when they license so much stuff! And it isn't because it doesn't sell -- the CM at Contemp told me that they cannot keep the scrapbooking stuff on the shelves!

I was just there over the week-end and they didn't seem to have a whole lot more in the DTD store than what was mentioned for October. They pretty much have the same things there that they have in the World of Disney store in DTD and if you have a Disney VISA (or an annual pass, I think) you ge ta 10% discount.

I think I bought most of the store at DTD in Oct! Got it home and am struggling to use most of it now - especially the scrapping paper packs.
Does the store at the Contemporary have different/useful stuff? If so I might have a nip over there in Oct.

Thanks everyone. I had hoped that in 2 yrs they would of added more stuff. I think I bought most of my stuff at World of Disney store. I don't remember any punches back then. I will try main Street. I am taking my dd to Chef Mickey's at the Comp so will check out their stuff. We are doing a land/sea package and can't wait to see what they have in the stores on the ship!
Only 7 more weeks!

I just got off the Magic cruise (before going to WDW). The shop onboard has a few of the punches and some Cruise line paper which I was particularly unimpressed with (after I opened it). They had the Mickey head scissors as well. The best selection was at World of Disney.

I have been overall umimpressed with the paper packs. Alot of them seem a bit too busy for my taste. I've been trying to challenge myself to do Disney themed layouts with "regular" PP. Plus I have quite a few swap items to use up!

I was on my first ever cruise in Nov. and I found selection on ship to be worse than even DTD scrapbook store and the cruise exclusive paper pack and scrapbook seemed very cartoonish in appearance to me.

WOD is @ Downtown Disney. BTW, I've read that there is LOTS of new scrapbook stuff coming out beginning 2006.
I think there is something to this, because our local scrapbook store is clearancing out a lot of the current Disney merchandise. Keep an eye out!!

I am going down again at the end of March. I will have to be sure to get to WOD then. I was suprised that they carried all the same stuff that the scrapbooking store did AND gave a discount. Why wouldn't I shop there????????

We were there over Christmas. I thought there was even less than during our October trip...not that there was all that much then. Very disappointing. I ended up buying most of my stuff from local stores after we returned home. It's hard to believe Disney is missing out on this opportunity!!

The new stuff has been in one of my LSS since december and I just found some more at another LSS on wednesday. There is a ton of it, including stuff for ..............VILLIANS! finally! They brought out a huge new line of the 3d stickers with Hook, Ursulla, Evil Queen, and Queen of Hearts, Malicifant. Also titles to match. So far I have seen new Peter Pan, Jiminny Cricket, Alice, Mad Hatter, Pinnochio, Princesses WITH the princes, all 7 dwarfs, and much much more. New papers are to come, and new albums. I got a gorgeous pink glitter embosed Cinderella 12 x 12 album, but havn' seen any other new ones, yet. There is also 8 x 8 stuff coming out. I'll try to posts some pictures of the new stuff that I have bought this weekend.

After reading it on this board...I went to the Contemporary - they have the best selection of scrapping items anywhere on Disney Property!
The scrap store at DTD is a MAJOR disappointment - didn't bother to go this last trip. The ice cream store there is WORTH the trip

Thanks for the tip! I will remember to go there in March. What a pleasant suprise that they would have more there than at the WOD or the Scrapbook store. The paper packs were the biggest disappointment. They all seem busy or funky. I can go so much nice Disney paper just about anyplace else.

I found some great Disney stickers at the Scrapbook place near the Florida mall. They are the three dimensional variety. I got Maleficent, Cruella, Pinocchio, Peter Pan, Lady and The Tramp, Captain Hook , Ursula and Dumbo. I also got The Cat In The Hat and The Grinch for my Universal pictures. These are great stickers. Cruella's coat is actually fuzzy. I love the Lady and The Tramp pack. It has them sitting at the table sharing the strand of spaghetti. Now, I just have to find the time to use them!

They probably carry more there because that is where they hold the big scrapping convention each year.

Aha! I was wondering why, of all places, that the most stuff would be at that one resort. Thanks for clearing it up!

I'm just delighted to have given a tip that panned out (about the Contemporary)! I mean, I always write things here on the DIS sincerely, and with first-hand knowledge, but then it always seems as though there's another poster out there who tells me my info is wrong (does this happen to you, too?)
Anyway, thanks for the info on the scrap convention! To be a little more specific about what I bought at the Contemp -- a teeney tiny mickey head punch (slightly smaller than the mickey head confetti that they sell), a set of spiral mickey head paper clips (having a blast with these!), a box full of "vintage Disney stickers" -- lots of funky attraction and mickey mouse club stuff, really fun, the mickey head scissors (but they do seem to sell these everywhere).... hmmm. That's all I'm remembering at the moment -- I bought more, and I know I had a tough time making my choices because of all the great stuff.
BTW, it's the store that's on the right if you are facing that back-end, "non-Chef-Mickey's" side of the Contemporary.

I'll definately make sure I stop by the Contemporary this year, I've never been inside a deluxe resort before (except on the monorail travelling through the Contemporary) so it should be interesting to have a look around too. Shame non of the restaurants appeal to us, all way too fancy.
I wish the scrapping convention was on a bit later, we're going to miss it as we're out there end of Sept/early Oct. I'd love to attend a US convention.

I am an avid scrapper and going to Disney for the first time this Feb. :goodvibes We will be at Chef mickeys our arrival night for an early dinner, so I would love to get some scrap stuff! Could you tell me exactly where in the Contemporary it is? :confused3 TIA! :earsgirl:

OK -- the 4th floor "Grand Concourse" of the Contemp is a huge rectangle. The escalators/elevators are sort of in the center of the rectangle. Chef Mickeys occupies one entire short end of the rectangle, and the Concourse Steakhouse is situated just outside Chef Mickey's, on that same side/end of the rectangle. The other end of the rectangle has all of the shops. You can tell right away if you have restaurants around you and can see Chef Mickey's, or if you are surrounded by stores.
Now, on the store end of this large rectangle, there's an "open air," pin store and souvenier shop in the middle/toward the back of THIS short end of the rectangle (still with me?). If you stand facing this pin store, it means that Chef Mickey's is at your back (even though you can't see it because of those central elevators, etc.). From this perspective, the store on your RIGHT (which will probably appear from the outside to have lots of clothing and housewares) is the place I found all the great stuff. The store(s) on the LEFT-hand side (opposite) have a lot of toys and there's a "sundries" store with newspapers, beverages, etc. over there, too. There may be "some" scrap stuff over on that other side, but I found the motherlode on the right hand side. But you know what? The CMs are so friendly and helpful that if you get there and are confused, just ask and I am SURE you will get pointed in the right direction!
Have a blast!

Thanks Bleeps! :flower:
We'll be there the end of the month, and planning a stop at the Contemporary now. I had told DH that I really NEEDED ::yes:: to go to the scrapbook store at DTD (for some reason he just rolled his eyes :confused3 )...I figured it would be like Toys r Us for me...In my mind it was all the Disney licensed scrapbook stuff in one place :worship: Well that is what it should be anyway. What a disappointment that Disney hasn't figured out how to use that store to it's potential. Really missing the boat on that one... :boat:
So, I guess now I have to figure out how much I want to spend there BEFORE I leave home... :rotfl2:
