We're booked at the Animal Kingdom Lodge for December 16-23, 2006. This will be our first time doing Disney World near Christmas, and we're very excited. We normally go during the summer, but it's getting just too darn hot for us that time of year.

After seeing the Travel Channel special on Disney World at Christmas, we decided to make the leap.

We live about an hour north of Seattle and it will be the two adults, plus our two teens (16,17).

Anyone else joining us?

We are going December 6-15th at WL. It is also our first Christmas Season visit and I am so EXCITED

It will be me, my DH and our DD who will be 2.5 years old. Once a week I take her to the Disney website so she can see Mickey. She gets so excited and always says "Mickey Mouse". Poor thing is already hooked and she is only 19 months ;)

We went this year to WDW for the very first time (basically) over Christmas week and had a very good first experience. I wouldn't hesitate to do it again. We utilized fast pass for those things we really wanted to do, made lots of ADRs to guarantee we'd have places to eat, and I thought the crowds were maneageable. As an added bonus the Christmas music and holiday decorations made the magic even more special.

We're planning a January trip next year, though, since it works out better for DH to finish the year and then take a break. Maybe we'll do Christmas again sometime because I really loved it!!

Mark,

You made a great decision to go down for the holidays. The "world" is great all gussied up, and make certain that you take in as much of the holiday splendour as you can. Be sure to see the Osborne Lights at MGM, the christmas version of Illuminations at Epcot, and if you have time, do a tour of the resorts to see all their decorations.

Also, try MVMCP. It's an additional charge, but worth it if you plan it out correctly. The holiday Wishes fireworks show is not to be missed, and it only plays during Christmas Party nights.

Unfortunately we won't be joining in on the holiday festivities this year as our APs will expire Dec 1st, so we're going pre-Thanksgiving this year.

ENJOY!!

hi -

We too are in the planning stages. This will be our first christmas at disney. Thinking 12-20 to 12-27 or 12-21 to 12-28. We have 2 birthdays in the family (DS and DH) during this time along with Christmas.

Don't know if I should reserve soon or wait all little bit. I need to make sure I can get off of work. I am pretty low on the seniority list. Hope to see you there!!!!

We won't be there for Christmas....but we will be there Dec 30- Jan 6, and I just found out that they leave the Christmas decorations up in the parks until around the 8th. :cool1: I'm so excited...the last time we were there was Dec 17- 23, 2000 for our honeymoon! I cannot wait, I'm being the compulsive planner already...planning meals, when to go to what parks, etc. My DS will be 2 1/2 yr old, so that is going to be my favorite part, seeing the look on his face. He loves anything Disney! :earsboy:

I enjoyed Mousefest this year so much, am already picking the days I will return. MF is Dec 7-12, land portion, so will probably go around the 3rd, to sightsee. During the gathering, I tend to hand out with other MF'ers, and not go on very many rides.

Will activate my AP, so planning other trips in 2007!! ... Yes, I am a planner!!

We are planning an all adult trip 2 couples, us and our best friends!! Dec 1 thru Dec 10. I'm a little worried about it being PoP Werner week but hopefully we can avoid the hotels they usually stay in. I've read it's the All Stars and POFQ and POR are the main resorts where they are to stay but in 2005 there was over flow to POP.

MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!

We have our outbound flights reserved, just got to wait until after the 1st Feb to secure the inbound, but TA said there won't be a problem.

We are there 16 December to 1st Jan this year. We normally leave on Christmas Day, but DD is 21 on the 19th and so we will be celebrating Disney style :goodvibes

Stayed at CS and AKL this Christmas which was wonderful. Would love to have done the same this time, but as there are 10 of us again this year, a villa is a better option for us.

Only 48 weeks to go :rotfl2:

I have read alot of comments about larger than expected crowds and it has me a little nervous. I thought the first full week in Dec would be great but....... weather, crowds, parade taping amd POP WARNER FOOTBALL have made me concerned. I usually go in August but loved the idea of short lines and Christmas Decorations. Should I change my reservation to January? I have reservations at the Swan at teacher discount rate ($165)but hope some discounts become available for the Boardwalk Inn. What do you think?

I'll be going with my mother and sister for our semi annual girls trip. We're going for the flower show in April too. Not sure where we'll stay. I'd like either the Poly or AKL. Depends on rates and if we go in October for the food and wine event.

Hi hjic15102

I could way off, but I doubt any resort on the boardwalk will be lower than teacher's discount. $165 is a good rate for a deluxe. I have been to WDW the 1st week of Dec a couple of times, and tho it won't be a quiet as Sept, it will be better than around Christmas. There will be lines to the new and popular rides, and MK is always busy on Sat. Just look at when the late hours are, and adjust your park time. You might want to get MVMCP tickets for MK.

The big PLUS is the holiday decorations. They are beautiful. DS has the Osborne lights. Epcot has the holiday storytellers, and holiday arch of lights. MK has MVMCP.Take time to check at the resort's decorations. They are wonderful!!!

Don't worry. You will have a great time!

We will be going down Dec 3-17, this will be our second time for December, first one was in 2003(7th-20th) and the Osborne Lights were closed :sad2: so we really need to see them this year!!! In 2003 the crowds were very managable. Awesome Christmas decorations to see, and MVMCP is a must. One thing my DGS did was make a Gingerbread House at BCV (need to sign up early for this) this was one of the best highlights for him! Try to go see all the resorts decorations they really go all out! Weather was cool evenings but mostly sunny days (should plan for jackets for evenings) MVMCP, what can I say hot chocolate/cookies the snow falling on Main Street, awesome parade, shows! Wow, memories, I have to go now and plan for my tickets for this year :yay:

Fort Wilderness for us December 18 - 30. I've decided this is the year for "Skipping Christmas" and heading to WDW to enjoy their decorations instead of spending 3 days putting mine up and 2 days taking down, not to mention countless days of shopping, a full day of wrapping, and at least 3-4 days of baking, 2 days of cleaning house for the relatives and a day to clear out all the stuff left behind by the same relatives. None of that this year - just Disney Magic for us! OK - so maybe there will be some hours of wrapping since I've already started shopping at the Disney Store online for gifts for the kids to put under the tiny tree in the camper.

it will be only my 3rd trip to wdw, dd's 2nd. we always seem to go at x-mas, but we checkout right before x-mas. this year we will be there ON x-mas!

the unofficial guide says the 18th - 23rd are a level 5 to 6 for crowds (out of 10), but the 24th - 27th will be at 10!!! so at least we will have the first 6 days of not-so-bad crowds.

I am taking my DGS (age 12), DGD (age 8), and DS from Dec. 4-9. They have been going through a rough time, so I'm looking forward to giving them a little diversion. Seems that by then I might be a WDW "pro". (I spend a lot of time lurking on the 'net!) :rolleyes2:

We are in the process of planning for most of the family to go Dec. 23 to the 28th. We are still in the planning stages so no reservations have been made yet. I hope we can all go! Just a little nervous about the crowds though...

Multiply by 10 what you think the crowds will be like, and you still will underestimate the crowd size for this week at WDW. :cool1:

We will be there from the 8th to the 20th -- most of the stay off-site, but last 2 nights *hopefully* at the Villas at Wilderness Lodge.

Our Family will be at WDW for the first time Dec 19-29, staying at WL. We are all very excited and counting down the days. I read on Mousesavers that if you are there after Dec 22 you will be able to see everything you would have at MVMCP. We are also wondering if we should go to the party or not?
Our choice would be Thurs Dec 21 and I think being so close to x-mas it may be one of the busiest MVMCP's. Any opinions?

We'll be there 12/10 - 12/17 (maybe longer, depending on where we stay during our park days at Universal after Disney). We took the kids when when they were little at Christmastime (in '98), now they will both be in high school when we go this year.

Michelle, we'll be at Pop at the same time as your family! We are set at OKW (rented points) from 10th till 15th. We arrive at Pop on 12/15, and will stay till either the 17th or 22nd (we may go to universal resort, but kind of doubt it, will probably stay at Pop Century.

That's wonderful maybe we will run into each other. If happened to see a tall guy, short girl, a blond, blue eye crazy 4 year old named Logan and a crazy, rolling her green eyes at her little brother girl named Gillian make sure to say HI.

Ps the sun does exist in Ohio it's a pretty day today.

Michelle, We're pretty easy to spot too, I think. Tall husband, Jeff (6ft 4), my daughter (Emily-15) and I are both short with long straight brown hair. My son Jesse-17, is almost 6 ft. Hope to see you too! :yay:

So..we gotta turn the heat on tonight and the air conditioning on for the weekend  - mary

We are making plans now for 07 (A long wait) But I am in college and need to pick either 1 week at the end of august( :sunny: ) or the week after christmas, I know it's really crowded but it seems nice.

How bad are the crowds. If you spend a full day at MK, could you do enough, or do you need another day?
I really want to go that week. What a nice christmas vacation.

Because its only you and your spouse going to WDW, I would go ahead and purchase the tickets for the MVMCP. With only two people going, if its crowded it won't be as big of deal moving through the crowds. Also its just a very nice experience. Also look for a nice place to have a relaxing dinner before the party starts. :wizard:
