My DH is a pizza fanatic...can't go more than a few days without it. Are there any good choices? :Pinkbounc

I wasn't able to find what I consider to be really good pizza, but that doesn't mean that he wouldn't like it....

I don't know what his tastes are, but I'm picky about my pizza. I loved Pizza Planet in MGM. I just love eating there and I just can't walk by it without getting the urge to eat a pizza.

Good? No. Edible? Maybe. Pizza Planet in MGM is the closest to mediocre that we've had.

Tamaqua? I've had good pizza there, can't recall the name, it's on the main street off of 309.

What about the flatbread pizza at Mama Melrose's or the take out window at Spoodles?

Was it Dimaggio's/La Dolce Casa? They have great pizza.

If you are on the dining plan this is a great idea for a counter meal. In Downtown Disney in The Marketplace, Wolfgang Puck Express has amazing pizzas. They are not cheap about $10 but as I said if you are on the dining plan WPE counts as a counter meal, amazing deal!!!

I would second that. Its the best pizza I have found within Disney.

Puck's still a pretty good idea even if you aren't on a meal plan, but if one's idea of good pizza is pizza hut, the subtler flavors may be under appreciated and the bolder cheeses may be overwhelming, and the lack of grease confuzzing. :confused3

House of Blues has a really good pizza (appetizer) on their menu.
Wolfgang Pucks is good too.

other "locals":
Pizzaria Uno in the Crossroads area.- chicago style

Best in Orlando:
I like NYPD (New York Pizza Deli)
and I like Positanos.

When all else fails you can have Papa Johns deliver to your room. Their pizza is really pretty darn good, and not expensive.

Sounds like Pizza is the other food beside coffee that Disney needs to improve!

Anyone else wish they would get a contract with Starbucks?

We also did Pizza Planet and really enjoyed it. I was really suprised at how good it was having remembered how bad pizza used to be at Disney. Course it could have been my low expectations too.

JMHO I did not enjoy the pizza at Pizza Planet at all.

I have never tried it, but I have heard they have Pizza at Fort Wilderness.

I have tried the Wolfgang Puck Pizza and it was very tasty.

I agree that Wolfgang Puck Express had a good pizza.

We ordered a pizza from Riverside Mill at POR. It was OK, but we weren't impressed with it at all.

Was the cost much more? Was it a thin or thick crust? I have never eaten at Puck's

Pizzafari had the BEST pizza I had ever eaten in my life! I loved it. Also, even though I have never been to Wolfgang Puck, I read in a book that it is considered to be the best restaurant in Disney for Pizza. That is from a book source (can't remember the title). I don't know, but as far as I am concerned, nothing can beat Pizzafari in AK!

I second the flat bread at Spoddles. It was fantastic. The pizza at POR food court was terrible. :crazy2:

Personal preference for something not Starbucks aside, it just wouldn't be the same getting starbucks coffee from someone who doesn't have either a nose ring, visible tattoo, unnatural hair color or some other fashion statement that reminds me how young college students seem these days. pirate:

As for Puck's Pizza, I'd say it's about $10, but I honestly can't remember. All I can recall was thinking that it wasn't bad for Disney prices, but there's no way in Hades I'd pay that much for a pizza of that size for lunch in Center City Philadelphia. :confused3

I like the pizza at Pinocchio Haus in MK. It had a crispy crust, which is essential for me.

I was not too impressed with the pizza at Pizza Planet, but we went when my youngest DS was 6 years old, so it was a required stop!!! LOL!!!
Now, I really liked the pizza at Tubby's cafeteria in the Dolphin. We got it twice. Of course, we were having a midnight snack, so that may be why it seemed so good!! LOL!!! We were staying at the Swan, and it was fun to go to Tubby's in our PJ's and get the pizza!!!! :cutie:

We ate the pizza from the food court at POP Century and it was ok but we really liked the pizza that we got from Pizza Planet at MGM. We thought it was very good. We really liked what they called the Junk Yard Pizza. It was basically an all veggie pizza and we all liked it. And with a 6 year old and an 8 year old that rarely happens.

You can have a pizza delivered to your room. My favorite is Giordanos which is Chicago Stuffed Pizza. A menu can be found here: http://www.giordanos.com/ . Be aware that you will need a knife or pizza cutter for Giordanos since the pizza is quite thick and gooey and all the flavor would leak out if it were pre-cut. I also like Unos pizza (another Chicago pizza, with a thick cornmeal/flour crust). Be aware that both Unos and Giordanos will take 45 minutes to an hour to be delivered, but they are worth the wait IMO.

I haven't been able to find any NY style pizza that is edible in WDW. Pizzafari in AK is probably my favorite but its not really pizza, more like non-greasy pizza hut. I do like Uno's pizza but its just not the same as a good NY style pizza. I guess it all depends on what you call 'good pizza' I think I'm going to have to try Pucks on this trip :earsgirl:

Ugh. *EAT*able is a good description.

Though, on the last day on our trip this week, as we were packing up, I read in an Orlando travel guide that Papa John's (still not REAL pizza) will deliver to the resorts. Didn't confirm, but that's what the ad said.

Depends on what kind of pizza he prefers. My DH is from Chicago and we have enjoyed delivery from Gioradanos before. I would consider the Spoodles pizza less than medicore, just FYI...

Well. Just got back today  and thought I'd report on the pizza.....

We tried
Wolfgang Puck Express (voted the best) :teeth:
Pizza Planet (not pizza)
Riverside (so not pizza - uggh - terrible )
Mama Melrose in MGM (good flatbread - came in second)

Sounds like all we ate was pizza but not true.

Thanks for the replies!

At the Boardwalk Resort there is a pizza window right on the boardwalk that is connected to the restaurant Spoodles. It is very good and probably the best anywhere in the entire resort complex. The restaurant itself is Mediterranean in nature so the specialty pizzas can be unusual, and interesting.

Sorry but we haven't found any GOOD pizza in Disney, in fact we haven't found any GOOD pizza in the entire state of Florida. One of the only reasons we look forward to coming home to New York.

Recently I found:

REAL NEW YORK PIZZA
they had 2 locations in Central Florida
11741 SOBT, Orlando (407) 856-9662
(this is about 1-mile from where I work)

2316 Boggy Creek Road, Kissimmee (407) 343-0505

They sell pizza by the slice $1.25
Unbelievably good, large slices cut from a 24" pie
Thin crust that cracks when you fold it.

BEST Pizza I have found since moving here from NJ

I make it a point to eat at Mama Melrose's every trip. The flatbread pizza is wonderful - and add a bellini to that - YUM!

For our money, best pizza on property, is Trail's End at Fort Wilderness and Spoodles at the Boardwalk, which used to have the best meatball sandwiches on property but last time they were not on the menu, seems good food doesn't stay around long at WDW, we used to love the beaver tails in Canada at EPCOT !
