Car Rental at Disney

Can anyone advise me on where the car rental companies are located in Disney World?
We are staying at the AKL and plan on hiring a car for a few days. I'd like to pre-book if possible and check out rates etc..

You can rent from the Grosvenor Hotel and the Wyndham at Downtown Disney (can't remember what its new name is). I have used both of these and found the Grosvenor to be better (Dollar franchise I think).

National and Alamo have a big rental site on property. I can't remember if it's on the road leaving the MK parking lot or Epcot's....
I'm pretty sure it's on the road leaving from the MK's parking lot...
but in any case, it's right on property...

we rented from that National location once, but it was many years ago, so i can't remember if they pick you up from your resort (but i'm guessing that they do)...

we now only rent right from the airport...

Alamo are at the Disney car care centre which is near the Hess garage on the road from the MK parking lot. We aren't too keen on the alamo cars, but the location is ideal. If you are staying at a WDW resort, then there is complimentary transport to and from the car care centre to collect your car.

yup, that's the one i was talking about....National is there too (Alamo and National are related companies).....

I'm not 100% sure, but I think that the National section is only available to Emerald club customers....at least I think it was last time we were there. :)

if you book to pick up from alamo/national from car care centre near mk you get a free shuttle from your hotel you just ask bell sevices to contact them.We are useing www.usrentacar.co.uk as they are the cheapest at moment

Just another thing - have a look at Mousesavers (http://www.mousesavers.com/rentalcar.html) for car rental discount codes. The website gives you codes which you can type in to access discounted rates. We saved over 50% off of the normal price last trip!

We returned 2 weeks ago and we tried to hire a car we were staying at ASM.

CM was lovely, explained we get transport to the car centre, so whilst ordering the car, $28 to hire BUT the insurance for 1 day was $22, so we decided against it.

Alamo is also at the Dolphin which is very handy if you have been at Epcot just before. I booked though www.airline-network.co.uk and picked the car up from the Dolphin and dropped off again at MCO.

The Dolphin is really easy to get to in any instance - if you are at a water park, MK, AK or DTD just jump on a Dolphin bus (they share with BW, the Swan and sometimes Y&B too). If you are at MGM or Epcot take a boat!

From another resort I would personally catch an MGM bus and then a boat the Dolphin :)

The free pick up is probably ideal but if you are already at a park it may just be as easy to make your way there by WDW transport - which I always find good fun anyway :)

miffy the free pick up is also drop of as well and as the car care centre is next to hess you can stock up on dounughts beer and pop befor you head back,bit like a grocery stop
