Since we had so many great ideas on the Q&E Christmas recipe thread, I was hoping for some great ideas about some Appetizers that I could make for New Year's Eve (of course with leftovers to munch on for New Years Day). I am mainly looking for appetizers that can be prepared in around 30 minutes or less (not counting cook time).
If you like Ruben sandwiches, this is a great recipe...
Crock-pot Ruben Dip
8 oz. deli corned beef, coarsely chopped (I use 4 packages of corned beef lunchmeat - like Buddig or a generic store brand)
1 cup sauerkraut, well drained
1 (8-oz. pkg) cream cheese, softened
2 cups shredded Swiss cheese
½ cup thousand island salad dressing
Put all ingredients in crock pot. Cover crock pot and heat on high until all ingredients are melted. Stir to mix all ingredients together.
Serve with party rye or pumpernickel bread slices, crackers, or french bread cubes.

Another great idea! A family favorite anytime for us:
Pepperoni rolls:
Package refridgerated crescent rolls
Pepperoni pillow pack
Shredded mozz. cheese
Open rolls, separate. Place a few slices pepperoni, sprinkle with cheese. Roll them up so that they are sealed. Place on ungreased cookie sheet (I like the pampered chef stone) and bake as directed on the package.
Serve with pizza dipping sauce. Easy and yummy!

My favorite dip is so easy. On jar salsa ( or make your own :confused3 )One can whole kernal corn drained, and a can of black beans drained, mix together and enjoy.
Pigs in a blanket. We like to use Hillshire Farms lil smokies. Then we take crescent rolls (cut to size of course) and wrap them. Place them on a cookie sheet. I usually spray it with non stick spray first. Toss them in the oven for a about 10 minutes or so and voila... The kids love them! We make them every year. The best part is that the kids love to help make them too. :teeth:

7-layer Mexican Dip
1 can refried beans
1/2 pkg taco seasoning mix
Sour Cream
Guacamole
1 pkg shredded cheddar or mexican mix cheese
green onions, sliced
tomato, chopped
sliced olives
Mix together beans & seasoning mix. Layer on the bottom of 9x9 pan. Layer on guacamole, then sour cream. Sprinkle cheese over that. Add layer of chopped tomatoes, a layer of green onions and top with olives. Serve with tortilla chips.
This is my DHs favorite dip of all time.

My mom just made this simple appetizer for Thanksgiving. It was SO delicious and SO easy!!
1 pkg. of hotdogs (cut each dog into thirds)
1 pkg. of bacon (wrap each hotdog piece with half slice of bacon and secure with toothpick)
Place pieces in a 9x13 baking pan and cover with 3/4 c. brown sugar. Bake in a 400 degree oven for 45 minutes, shaking pan occasionally to keep them from sticking.
These were devoured instantly! I'm thinking if you didn't want to use hotdogs, they'd probably be just as good with scallops or shrimp....

Pineapple Delight
1 jar of Robert Rothschild Farm's Roasted Pineapple & Habanero Dip (http://www.gourmetfoodrecipes.com/roasted-pineapple-habanero-dip.html) (I find this at my local Giant Eagle)
1 brick of creamcheese
2 sleeves of your favorite crackers (I think the the Toasteds Buttercrisp or Onion crackers work best)
Place your cream chees on a plate. Pour the dip over it and serve with crackers.
It is so easy and sooooooo good!!!

This is a quick and easy appetizer that goes over well at any time of year.
Seafood Ball
1 8oz package cream cheese
1 can of your preferred seafood (shrimp and crab seem to work best)
cocktail sauce
Mix the cream cheese and seafood together well. Mold into a ball and refrigerate. When ready to serve, cover with the cocktail sauce. Serve with assorted crackers.
We almost never have anything left over.
Another quick and easy snack that is on the sweet side:
Pumpkin Mousse
1 small can of pumpkin (15oz I believe it is)
1 tub of cool whip, thawed
1 box vanilla pudding mix
Pumpkin Pie Spice to taste
Mix all ingredients together. It is easy to mix them all right in the cool whip container and pop the top on to refrigerate until ready to use. You can serve this as a dip with gingersnap or sugar cookies, or layer in a trifle with pound cake.

Add ham and cheese to crescents too---kids love them and its an easy and delicious small hot ham and cheese.
Another thing is unfold the cresent and place unrolled to cover a pizza/cookie tray--spread a thin layer of pizza sauce--add pepperoni, ham, and different meats--spinkle parmesan cheese and mozzarella cheese over the top--then add another layer of cresent. Then bake---you can also take some egg and mix w/ oregano or basil and brush over the top lightly. When done--cut into squares or triangles add a toothpick and eat up!!!

We do this, except instead of Velveeta, we use softened cream cheese. It reminds me of the chili con queso from Chili's.

Barbeque Weinies!! Buy the Lil Smokies and your favorite barbeque sauce. Cook them on med-low in a pan for about 10 minutes--enough to warm the smokies well. Another great thread!!

I love making apps
This one takes less than 10 minutes to whip together, but very impressive and perfect for New Years Party. It is from Bon Appetit, I think.
1 round brie (President's makes them in different sizes)
(these measuremens are for a medium size brie, adjust ratios accordingly based on what size you choose to serve)
2T Brown Sugar
2T Seedless Rasberry Jam
1T Honey
Mix sugar, jam & honey together until smooth. Cut brie in 1/2. On bottom 1/2, dump sugar mixture and replace top 1/2 of brie.
On the top, sprinkle brown sugar, then top with slivered almonds and then drizzle honey on top of all. The only ingredient here I use alot of is the almonds (my personal taste). Use the sugar and honey sparingly, you don't want it coming out too sweet.
Bake a 375 for about 20-25 mins, till cheese is soft, then swith to broil to brown nuts. This will happen very quickly. I can't tell you how many of these I have burned not watching closely enough...if that happens, I just scrape off the top, re-top it and broil again.
Serve with "Carr's Whole Wheat Crackers".

One package Cream Cheese
One Jar Red Pepper Jelly
Cut cream cheeese into good size squares and put in serving bowl. Dump jelly on top. And there you have it.
Goes good served with Triscuits

My DD's friends love this dip and it's so easy:
1 8oz. brick of cream cheese (softened)
½ of an 11 oz. jar of Chunky Salsa (your choice of strength)
1 bag tortilla chips
Beat cream cheese with mixer until fluffy. Slowly add salsa until fully mixed. Refrigerate 1 hour prior to serving with chips.

We don't have a name for these, but they always disappear!
cresent rolls
cream cheese
crisp cooked bacon
finely chopped green onion just a bit for taste and color
unroll the cresent roll dough into 4 rectangles. Press the diagonal seam together. Spread each rectangle with cream cheese (I use soft cream cheese at room temp a bit so its easier to spread) Crumble bacon and sprinkle evenly over each, then sprinkle with green oinion. Roll each rectangle tightly from the short side into a little log. I'll then kind of press it together stretching it a smidge longer just to be sure its tight. Repeat with all the triangles. Slice into small discs and place on cookie sheet and bake...amybe 10 minutes depending on how think your slices are.
often I'll put them in the freezer for a few just before slicing them to get a better slice, otherwise I've been apt to squish them. Also you don't want the layer of bacon/onion to be too thick or it won't roll to well.
We also do the same thing with spinach, sliced turkey breast and honey dijon mustard. But I make those bigger.
I love cresent rolls they are so versatile!!!

This always goes fast when we make it
8 oz cream cheese
1 can No bean Chili
shredded cheddar cheese
Spread softened cream cheese onto bottom of pie plate, top with the chili and then the cheddar cheese. Bake at 350 until cheddar cheese is melted. Serve with tortilla chips.
Another one that is good is Ham or Turkey Pinwheels
Flour tortillas
Vegetable flavored cream cheese
fresh spinach
deli meat, we use ham and turkey breast
Spread tortillas with cream cheese, then layer the spinach and deli meat on top. Roll tortillas up, secure with a toothpick or two, wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate. Slice into bite size roll ups. Yummy and if you use lowfat cream cheese it isn't to bad for you.
A bag of frozen meatballs
A small jar of grape jelly
A small jar of chili sauce (not regular chili in a can, it is found near the ketchup in most stores)
Empty all ingredients in a crock pot and stir occasionally until meatballs are heated thoroughly.

You can do these in a crock pot as well. Just prepare hot dogs and bacon. Dump them all in a crock pot, pour a small package of brown sugar over it and let it go. I usually turn the crock pot on in the morning and let it go till party time. This is an old app. recipe I remember my mom making when we were kids and we still love it!!!!

MMM I've written down almost every recipe here to make Xmas eve!!
The only thing I can think of is a dip my aunt who just passed away used to make.. REAL simple.. thousand island dressing blended with cream cheese good for veggies or chips. REALLY good! You can spice it however with hot sauce if you like things spicey.
I wanted to post so I could subscribe to this :rotfl:

I forgot about this one. It is so good!
1 large can of cooked chicken
8oz cream cheese, softened
1 small size bottle of buffalo chicken wing sauce
1 bottle of blue cheese dressing
In a saucepan combine the cream cheese and buffalo chicken sauce, stir until smooth and creamy. Add chicken, drain first, and heat. The stir in the blue cheese dressing. Serve warm, with crackers or celery sticks. I have used club, ritz or the chicken biscuit crackers. Taste just like buffalo wings, without the mess!

My Aunt had two receptions in a week and these were the hit of both nights. She got the recipe from the caterer:
Cheese Crustini (makes 100)
Baguette Bread--1 sliced thin
Cream cheese--1 lb. 9 oz.
Jack cheese--5 oz.
Swiss cheese--5 oz.
Asiago or parmesan--5 oz.
Mozzarella Cheese--5 oz.
Cream or half & half--1/4 cup
Mixed herbs--any type you prefer. I usually use some sort of Italian herbs
Spray the bread slices with a flavored pan spray, such as garlic or olive oil. Toast in oven at 400 for about 3 minutes. They should only be dried a bit, not browned.
Beat cream cheese in mixer until soft. Add remaining cheese (all shredded). Mix well. This with cream. Add herbs to taste. Remember that the flavor will become stronger as it sits. I sometimes add hot sauce to the mix.
When ready for serving, place a small scoop of cheese on each Crustini. Heat in oven until cheese melts. Some like them a little browned but this will make the crustinis quite crunchy. Your preference.
Hope you enjoy it. The cheese mix will stay good for quite a while in the fridge. The crustinis don't last more than a few days, though.

Pizza Dip is one of my most favorite appetizers and it's always a hit.
1 Jar Pizza Sauce
1 Package of Cream Cheese
Italian Mix of Cheese
Italian Seasoning
Spread the cream cheese on the bottom of a baking pan, sprinkle italian seasoning over it, cover with a layer of cheese. Then pour pizza sauce on top, speading evenly around. Top of with remaining cheese. Bake at 350 for approx. 20 minutes or until cheese bubbles.
Serve with slices of french bread.
Yum!
Another fav. is this:
Tortillas (Burrito size)
1 Package of Cream Cheese
Small can of green chilis
Mix cream cheese and 1/2 the can of chilis together. Spread on the tortillas. Roll and then slice into sections.
Serve with salsa.

I am at a loss for Chistmas foods this year, looking for new ones.
Did you guys know that all but 3 or 4 of these ideas call for cream cheese? Most that don't have sour cream.
I love it. :lovestruc however it is off limits this year because of milk allergies. Any other ideas? I like the meatball and little smokey ones.
So far the best I can do is hummus and pita chips and corn chips and gaucamole (and salsa.)

Men love this recipe:
1 package of Bob Evans mild sausage
Velveeta cheese (I buy it in the jar)
1 package of party pumpernickel bread
Cook sausage in skillet, breaking it up into small pieces as it cooks with the back of a spoon. Drain grease. Lower heat and add in the cheese; stir until melted. Spoon sausage/cheese mixture over each slice of bread (1 tablespoon per slice) and place slices on a cookie sheet. Bake at 350 for 10 minutes. I make these at my friend's annual NYE's party and I barely get them out of the oven before they are eaten.
I have 2
Articoke dip.
1 can articoke hearts-chopped
Mix with 1cup Real Mayo & 1 cup Parm cheese 1/4 tsp garlic powder. Spread into to a glass dish around the size of a 9 x 9 sq. I use a corningware tart pan. 350 20 mins till brown on top serve with Corn Chips.
2nd - Doesn't have a name(will one that I can use here :teeth: it is just kinda of gross)
1 8oz cream cheese put in a glass pie plate mirco for 30 seconds spread out in plate pour can of Hormel Chili & 1 cup of Cheddar Cheese. Mirco about 1 1/2 mins. serve with Corn Chips.

A nice dip that I make for veggies is to take 1 envelope of Lipton vegetable soup and mix with 8 oz sour cream. Refrigerate for a couple of hours.
I also make a Chicken Spread. Take a big can (or 2 small ones) of chicken meat and mix with an 8 oz package of softened cream cheese and a tsp pf soy sauce. You can mix this with a fork but I like putting it in the food processor. Serve with crackers.

We do this, but with mini dill pickles. YUM. My entire family knows if they want some of these, they'd better not put them in front of me first. :teeth:
BLT DIP
1 lb bacon
1 tomato
1 c sour cream
1 c mayo (we use Miracle Whip)
Fry bacon till crisp; drain and crumble. Combine sour cream and mayo; add bacon. Seed and chop tomato - stir tomato in just before serving (otherwise it gets watery). Serve with Fritos, Triscuits, wheat thins, really any cracker works with this dip.
(and yes, you can use fat-free sour cream/Miracle Whip if you'd like!)

One of our favorites: Fried Ravioli
Use package of fresh cheese ravioli (not frozen!). Heat oil - need enough to cover ravioli (I usually use our fry daddy). Fry ravioli in hot oil (in small batches of approx. 8 - 10) until lightly browned (only takes a minute or two!). Remove with slotted spoon, place on paper towels to absorb excess oil. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and Italian seasonings. Serve warm with marinara or other favorite spag. sauce. Delicious!!!
Thanks for all of the other great ideas! Can't wait to try some! :cool1:

I found a site that offers substitutes. For cream cheese, it says "Part skim milk ricotta cheese or lowfat cottage cheese beaten until smooth"
And for sour cream, you can use fat free sour cream, or there used to be a product called King Sour that was, granted, chemicals but tasted and worked like sour cream.
Also, is there a Whole Foods Market or a Trader Joe's near you? Maybe they could suggest substitutions so you CAN try some of these delicious-sounding recipes.
eta: Okay, I found another website that might help: http://vegweb.com/recipes/quick/
You wouldn't necessarily have to use all the vegan ingredients, for example there's a sausage recipe that calls for Tofurkey something, you could use regular sausage instead - and probably you could substitute some form of tofu where the recipes in this thread use cream cheese.
And then there are my two:
VERY thinly-sliced American cheese and slices of either Genoa Salami or similar-sized pepperoni. Roll together one slice cheese and one slice meat, tightly; fasten with toothpick, top with olive.
Or along the lines of a couple of other recipes: Cocktail franks or sliced hot dogs heated in a saucepan of spaghetti sauce.

This was a big hit at a dinner we had recently.
Pesto Pie
1 15oz. pkg refrigerated pie crust
4 oz. Parmasean cheese
1/2 cup pesto (I used the store bought)
a couple of roma tomatoes sliced thin
Bake 1 pie crust at 400 for 8-10 minutes. Mix cheese and pesto together, spread over hot crust. Top with tomatoes. Place other crust on top. Seal edges with brush dipped in milk. Bake at 400 for 16-18 minutes or until golen brown. Cut into slices and serve.
Little smokies wrapped in small canned biscuits is always good and easy.
Chicken Enchilada dip goes over well too, although I leave out the jalapeno and put it in a crockpot to melt together:
* 1 pound skinless, boneless chicken breast halves
* 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
* 1 (8 ounce) jar mayonnaise
* 1 (8 ounce) package shredded Cheddar cheese
* 1 (4 ounce) can diced green chile peppers
* 1 jalapeno pepper, finely diced
DIRECTIONS:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Place chicken breast halves on a medium baking sheet.
2. Bake in the preheated oven 20 minutes, or until no longer pink. Remove from heat, cool and shred.
3. Place shredded chicken in a medium bowl, and mix in cream cheese, mayonnaise, Cheddar cheese, green chile peppers and jalapeno pepper. Transfer the chicken mixture to a medium baking dish.
4. Bake uncovered in the preheated oven 30 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.

I have two favorites that we love at Christmas.
Chili cheese dip
1lb. ground beef browned and crumbled
2 cans Armor beanless chili
1 1lb. block of Velveeta (cut into small pieces to speed cooking).
Put all ingredients in crock pot on high heat, stirring often. Serve with tortilla chips. This is addictive !
CC Dip
Spread a package of softened cream cheese evenly on the bottom of a pretty plate. Spread several large tablespoons of cocktail sauce over the cream cheese. Drain a can of crabmeat and sprinkle over the cocktail/ cream cheese mixture. Serve with Ritz crackers. Soooo good!

Definition: "prosciutto is an Italian-style raw ham, a specialty of Parma, cured by dry-salting for one month, followed by air-drying in cool curing sheds for half a year or longer. It is usually cut into tissue-thin slices that highlight its intense flavor and deep pink color. The slices are enjoyed on their own or are heated or cooked as part of a recipe. Prosciutto di Parma, imported from Italy, is regarded as the best quality."
Whenever DH and I want to drink wine and watch movies, we will get french bread, slice into rounds, and schmear on some Boursin/chèvre (spreadable goat cheese) and lay on a piece of prosciutto. Mmmmmmm...scrumptious.
But I also tried this one recipe where you take the same french bread rounds, put on the same type of Goat cheese, but top it with a small slice of quality salami, a thin slice of seeded roma tomato (or for smaller pieces of bread, cherry tomato), and a chiffonade (thin slivers) of fresh basil. I also cracked some black pepper on it. It was SO good.
I can't give you firm directions, b/c it's always been by taste, but easy as sin is to get a can of salmon and whip it with cream cheese and a little mayo. Salt and pepper to taste. Really good on mini bagel/toasted bagel rounds.
When in doubt, and when I really have to serve people but don't have time to cook, it's always good to go buy a selection of artisanal cheeses, from various regions, put them on a prety platter with labels, along with some sliced fruit (apples/pears), a dish of seasoned nuts (just not peanuts ;) ), a bowl of greek olives and some really amazing slices of bread and a variety of crackers. I could spend all day noshing on something like that. And if you have a soft cheese, depending on it's flavor, you can always mold it into a round log and roll it into cracked pepper, or fresh herbs. It looks lovely but is just so easy. (and if you're serving all that with red wine, I always have to have some pieces of super dark chocolate put out ;) )

Use a box or two of Athenos phyllo shells (I usually stock up when they are on sale for $1.50 per box...they keep in the freeser forever).
Fill with a bit of olive tapenade topped with crumbled feta cheese.
Put on a baking sheet and warm for about 8 minutes in a 350-degree oven.
Delicious.
You can fill those little shells with any combo you like. Chicken salad or salmon spread works well too.

Mix soft cream cheese and sour cream with taco seasoning package. Drain salsa and then add on top. Then add all of the other ingredients putting the cheese on the top and the olives for last. You can add jalapenos to the very top if you like. Serve with nacho chips. People go crazy for this.
Stuffed Mushrooms
1 lb mushrooms (15 - 20)
1/2 cup of butter
1/4 cup green onions
1/4 cup sauterine wine
1 cup of herb seasoned croutons crushed.
Clean mushrooms. Remove stems. Dip caps in melted butter. In small skillet saute chopped mushroom stems and onion in remaining butter. Remove from heat; add wine and croutons.
Bake at 350 for 10 - 15 minutes.
This is also a real crowd pleaser.

Soooo good!

I make this similar dish, only i wrap the hotdogs in bacon
put on cookie sheet
sprinkle with brown sugar then drizzle maple syrup over them
then bake.
After stirring them i do this again ........yummy!

This is a super easy clam dip-tastes like stuffed baked clams...
1 can of minced clams(I think it's a 6 oz can)
1 sleeve(minus 3 crackers, weird I know, but that's the recipe!)of Ritz crackers
1/2 stick melted butter
1/4 cup parmesan cheese(grated)I use Locatelli pecorino-romano
1 small onion chopped
dash oregano
dash garlic powder
Crush up the Ritz and mix everything together.Bake at 350 for about 1/2 hour...serve with Ritz

I have 3 recipes to share. They all are super easy.
Bacon-cheese Triscuits
Mix together shredded cheese, bacon bits (the real ones) and mayo. I don't have measurements, I just usually put enough mayo to make it sticky. Then spoon mixture on top of Triscuits that you have laid out on a pan. Bake on 325 until mixture is melted. These are always a huge hit with a unique flavor.
Ranch dip
1 package Hidden valley ranch dip mix with 16 oz sour cream.
Add 1/2 cup shredded cheese and 1/4 cup bacon bits (real ones again)
Refrigerate for about 1-2 hours before serving with crackers or chips.
OP mentioned meat balls and grape jelly. That is good, but I put meat balls in my crock pot and pour a can of pizza sauce on top. Odd combination, but very tasty!

This is my FAVORITE recipe my ex fiance's mom made it ... from Paula Dean on cooking network. I've been making it ever since and it's SO SO easy.. takes a second to make.. and everytime I've made it people can't guess what it is and RAVE over it! I substitue finely chopped carrots for tomato because i hate tomatoes...
1 sleeve saltine crackers
1 large tomato, finely chopped
3 green onions, finely chopped
1 1/2 cups mayonnaise
1 hard boiled egg, finely chopped
Salt
Freshly ground black pepper
In a medium size bowl, coarsely crush the crackers with your hands - you should have big cracker pieces. Add the remaining ingredients, mix well, and serve immediately. Season, to taste, with salt and pepper.
IT"S SO GOOD! I don't use exact measurements because I don't like mine quite as "wet" as paula's.. but it's a sure hit!

Here is one that is ALWAYS gone whenever we take it anywhere, and my husband always insists on it for Christmas, New Years, Superbowl, Easter, Tuesdays.....LOL
Large brick of Velveeta
Spicy roll of sausage (1 lb?)
can of cream of mushroom soup
Brown sausage and then combine everything in crockpot until well melted. Serve with tortilla chips. Very good! You can also use mexican velveeta to make it even spicier, or use regular sausage to cut down on the spice.

This is a great thread.
The brie that I make is also a PAula Dean. Take a piece of puff pastry and a piece of brie in the center. You can cut the top off the brie and place walnuts and brown sugar on it. Wrap up the brie and bake until the pastry if brown.
Another one that I make ahead and have in the freezer is pigs in the blanket. Thaw out 2 sheets of puff pastry.. Lay some good hotdogs on the edge. You might have to cut a hotdog to complete the row. Roll up and seal with some water. The puff pastry is folded into thirds and you can get 3 rolls using 1 and a 1/2 hotdogs from each sheeet of puff pastry. It will take 1 lb of hotdogs for 1 box of puff pastry. I then refreeze and take out when I need them. Bake in a 400 degree oven until brown. Make these ahead of time and it is one less thing to do. I have also been known to cut them after I make them and freeze them on a cookie sheet. When frozen put into a ziplock bag and take out as many as needed,
Thanks fo all the great suggestions.

These are our favourite appetizers (next to the meatballs with grape jelly & chili sauce!)
Stuffed Mushrooms:
1 8 oz pkg cream cheese
1 pkg bacon,
Large fresh mushrooms
Fry bacon until crisp, crumble. Heat cream cheese slightly in the microwave to soften (30 seconds or so), or have at room temperature. Mix with crumbled bacon, and then remove stems from mushrooms and stuff with mixture. Put on baking sheet and bake at 350 for 20-25 mins, until mushrooms are soft. Sometimes I mix a little parmesan cheese in, but they are delicious just the way they are. Serve warm, and they will disappear!

Gosh, I want to make all of these. I am making a few of them, for something new. We also make this:
BAKED BRIE SPREAD
1 (8 oz.) wheel Brie or Camembett (I peel the top hard stuff off)
2 tbsp. (1/4 stick) butter, room temperature
1/4 c. sliced almonds
Fresh bread, sliced apples or pears, and I love to top it with raspberry jam (the one without the seeds).
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Set Brie in ovenproof serving dish. Spread butter over top. Arrange sliced almonds on butter. Bake until softened and heated through, about 12 to 15 minutes. Serve warm with bread, apples or pears. 4 to 6 servings.
Hmm..I think I'll make some tonight, just to make sure it will be good tomorrow.

Here's another super easy one.
Stuffed Mushrooms
1 Pound Whole Mushrooms Cleaned and Stems Removed
1/3 Cup Melted Butter
Package of Stouffers Spinach Souflee (Thawed)
Shreaded Cheddar Cheese
Dip each cap into melted butter and spoon a generous amount of spinach souflee into each. Top with the shreaded cheese and bake at 350 for 15 minutes.
These are really good and couldn't be easier. I only use 1/2 of the spinach package per package of mushrooms, so you can freeze any leftovers for next time.

Here's our family's favorite mexican dip.
Montezuma's Revenge
1 can refried beans
1 pound ground beef (browned and drained)
1 small can jalapeno relish or salsa
1 small bottle taco sauce
1 pkg. shredded cheese
1 cup sour cream
1 bag Fritos scoops
In shallow casserole layer ingredients in order listed, except for sour cream and Fritos. Bake at 350 for 20 minutes. Spread sour cream on top. Turn oven off and let sit in warm oven about an hour. Serve with Fritos.
Another favorite is:
Sausage Balls
1 pound sausage
2 cups baking mix (Bisquick)
1 cup shredded cheese
1/2 cup water
Fry sausage and drain. Put Bisquick in large bowl. Add cheese and water. Add sausage. Mix with hands. Roll into balls. Bake on cookie sheet at 350 about 15 minutes or until lightly browned. Recipe can easily be doubled.
Hot Chicken Dip
2 cups cooked chopped chicken
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 8 oz. cream cheese
1 small pkg. sliced almonds
garlic powder
salt and pepper
Mix all ingredients and heat in sauce pan, stirring occasionally. Serve on Wheat Thins or other crackers.
Spinach Dip
In medium bowl blend 1 envelope Lipton Vegetable Soup mix, 1 (16 oz) sour cream, 1/2 cup mayonnaise, and 1/2 tsp. lemon juice.
Stir in 1 package (10 oz.) frozen chopped spinach - thawed and squeezed dry.
Add 1 can water chestnuts, drained and chopped.
Chill. Makes about 3 cups dip.

Here's one my DH loves, and it is low fat:
Ham-Tortilla rolls
flour tortillas
1 8oz cream cheese (we use 1/3 less fat, the no fat version is lumpy)
1 jar salsa (you choose how hot)
shredded ham
mix cream cheese and salsa; spread on tortilla, add ham, roll up. Slice. We have found they slice easier if they have been refrigerated.
Another I love is Veggie Pizzas
1 can cresent rolls
1 8oz cream cheese (1/3 less fat)
1 pack dry ranch dressing
1-2 tbs. sour cream (low fat/no fat)
1 pack of broccoli-califlower-carrot mix*
shredded cheese
Chop veggies (grating works well, too), spread cresent rolls on cookie sheet-push together the seams- and bake. Mix cream cheese, ranch dressing, and sour cream. When cresents cool, spread mix on them then spread veggies and cheese on top. Refrigerate. Cut into squares.
*any veggies can be used; I added green onions this year

This is a bit pricey because of the cheese, but so worth it. :cool1: People love them because of the surprise center. They look like mini cheese balls, but then have the burst of grape inside! :cool1:
Roquefort grapes
1 10-oz. package of finely chopped, toasted nuts such as: pistachios, or almonds, or pecans or walnuts
12 oz. crumbled Roquefort cheese or Gorgonzola
1 8-oz. package cream cheese (room temperature)
3 tablespoons heavy cream
1 lb. seedless green grapes, washed and dried
If you get get untoasted nuts: Toast nuts in a 275° oven, then chop coarsely in a food processor or by hand. Spread on a platter.
Combine cream cheese, Roquefort and cream in a bowl, and beat with an electric mixer until smooth. Drop clean, dry grapes into the cheese mixture and gently roll by hand to coat them completely (like a peanut M&M.) Then roll them in the toasted nuts and put on a tray lined with wax paper. Chill until ready to serve. :cheer2:

2 pkgs frozen chopped spinach - thaw and roll in cheesecloth and squeeze, squeeze, SQUEEZE out all the liquid.
Mix with one large brick cream cheese and about 1/4 c. chopped bacon bits, and a little black pepper.
Roll into tortillas, like a hy-roller sandwich, slice and serve. Also good with the red pepper tortillas. Flour ones are way better than corn for this, IMNHO.

Take half of that jar & mix it with 8 oz of cream cheese & do not share with anyone. Keep in the kitchen with you & a box of crackers/triscuits while you are cooking & declaire you do not want any help or anyone to set foot near the kitchen!
Mexican Dip-apread an 8x8 (give or take) pan with cream cheese followed by your favorite salsa on top of the cream cheese & then add mexican cheese on top of it & bake until the cheese is melted.
I can't think of anymore right now since I am hungry (haven't eaten dinner yet) & this thread is making me want to go to the store & buy everything & eat it all in one sitting!

A bag of frozen meatballs
A small jar of grape jelly
A small jar of chili sauce (not regular chili in a can, it is found near the ketchup in most stores)
Empty all ingredients in a crock pot and stir occasionally until meatballs are heated thoroughly.
I do this one with Kielbasa as well...super yummy!
Low Carb Stuffed Mushrooms - takes about 15 minutes prep time:
2 cloves of garlic minced
1 package of mushrooms - take out stems/dice - lay caps into pan
oliev oil
1 package (approx 6 links) hot italian sausage (you could use sweet if not a spicy fan)
1 tbsp Italian Seasonings
1 Package of Kraft Mediterranean Cheese - or you can use Parmasan & mozzarella mix as well.
red pepper flakes to taste
Put oil in pan and add garlic & mushroom stems. Cook for a couple minutes. Add in sausage and brown - breaking sausage into small pieces (I usually take the "skins" off the sausage to make this easier. Add in italian seasoning, red pepper flakes. Let this mixture cook for about 5 minutes. Add in bag of cheese, mix well. Stuff mushrooms and cook at 400 till brown on top. I use these as an appetizer but also as a side dish when we have steak on the grill in place of potatoes. 1 Carb per mushroom cap.

We call them mini pizza bagels
Brown a package of bacon & crumble
Mix bacon with shredded white cheddar cheese and mayonaise(enough to get everything to stick)
You can add sliced black olives too(i do some with & some wthout)
Slice mini bagels in half and place flat side up
Spread mixture on top
Bake at 350 till the cheese is melted & starts to brown
I can't make them fast enough.

I think the 1 on the first page of this thread is served cold- but I think I made it warm once- I just kept tomatoes, guacamole and sour cream off to the side and added them cold at the end. Also we did the sour cream layer differently- we actually added 1 pack of taco seasoning to 8 oz of sour cream and mixed it together, it is yummy.

I have one that is not 7 layers...
in a pie plate
spread one block of cream sheese, softened
pour salsa over to cover
add one can of Hormel, no bean, Chili
top with shredded cheddar
bake at 350 approx 20 mins or until cheese is melted and bubbling.
For New Years day last year we had a "game day" pizza party... use whatever kind of baked crust you'd like for these
A BLT pizza, spread a little mayo on the crust, top with bacon, lettuce, tomato and cheese
A BBQ chicken pizza, spread a little BBQ sauce on the crust and top with shredded, cooked chicken, diced onion and plenty of mozzarella cheese, place back in oven just long enough to melt the cheese and heat the sauce
A Garden Ranch pizza, (from pampered chef) spread a ranch mix on the crust, top with fresh chopped broccoli, red pepper, carrots, and tomato
A ham and swiss, top crust with brown mustard, deli ham and shaved swiss, place in the oven to warm and melt the cheese
We've done various others, anything that you think might make a good combo or a good snadwich.

I didn't read all the posts so forgive me if this is a repeat...
My all time favorite quick and easy appetizer is sweet and sour meatballs.
Put equal parts ketchup and grape jelly in a crockpot. How much you use will depend on the size of the crockpot and how many meatballs you have. Throw in the small frozen italian meatballs (you can make them if you want, the store kind is just fine). Be sure the sauce is enough to cover the meatballs. Put on low for several hours. Serve.
Great leftover too...I serve them on egg noodles. My boys and dh love them!

Sausage balls (post #67) - freeze before cooking. You could bake then freeze, but it's better to freeze, then bake. Dip recipes (post #57 or #73) you could brown the beef & freeze it the put together just before your party. Also, ham & cheese rolls with poppy seeds can be frozen & baked just before serving.
Will post more if I think of them.

So easy and delicious. Just a warning though, the longer these babies cook, the hotter they get. They are requested at every gathering I go to.

This is a great one that you can make ahead of time and freeze.
1 package 6 English Muffins (I get the store brand)
1 6oz can of crabmeat drained
1 Jar Old English Cheese (Kraft usually near the velveeta) room temp
2 teaspoons mayo
1 stick butter softened
½ teaspoom garlic powder
½ teaspoon season salt
Slice open all muffins so you have 12 halves---put aside
Mix soften butter & mayo together and add spices
Mix in drained crabmeat
Mix in cheese
Spread mixture over muffin halves. Use all of mixture on the 12 halves. Muffins should be heaping. Place muffin halves on a cookie sheet or tray and freeze.
When frozen (I usually leave overnight) take muffins out and quarter.
Store in a ziplock bag in freezer
To serve:
Take them out of the freezer, put them on a cookie sheet and put them in a 350 preheated oven until the top bubbles or under the broiler for 2 minutes.
Serve warm.
I haven't been able to eat these for years as I can no longer eat any dairy products. But my family loves them so I make them.

We always make this dip when we go to partys. It's always a huge hit. We actually make the figure friendly version and noone knows the difference
Super Easy Taco Dip
1.25 lbs ground turkey (use ground beef for non figure friendly)
1 Package Taco Seasoning
1 8oz block of reduced fat cream cheese
1 8oz tub reduced fat sour cream
lettuce
1 jar salsa
2 cups shredded cheese (mexican or taco blend)
cook meat until brown and add taco seasoning as directed on package. Mix sour cream and cream cheese in a bowl until smooth.
In a 13x9x2in pan, layer meat, cream cheese/sour cream blend, salsa, shredded lettuce and cheese. Chill or serve immediatly with Tortilla chips.

Wow-what alot of great recipes! I've only looked at pg. 1 and 7 and have so many good ideas! :goodvibes Every year our extended families get together for xmas eve (aunts, uncles, cousins and kids, etc.) and this year it's at our house. Instead of the traditional ham, etc., we decided to do just appetizers and desserts (the best parts of the meal anyway!) So now I have even more ideas-and fast ones too! :hourglass

I make this too - but use chili sauce instead of ketchup. DH eats the whole crockpot himself. Yummo!!!

I like the crockpot, but it can be made on the stove too. Dump a bag of frozen meatballs in with 1/2 cup of grape jelly and 1 cup of your favorite BBQ sauce. Let it simmer. Enjoy!

Boil a bag of frozen cheese ravioli (package says 3-4 minutes), then dump into a large casserole pan. Top with a jar of your favorite pasta sauce and cheese (mozzarella or provolone work great). Bake until cheese is melty. Sprinkle with grated parmesan and dried parsley to make it pretty. Eat and enjoy! :

More please.....I am at a loss for Christmas Eve. Anyone have something that's easy that has spinach and artichokes? Thank you
This is one that I make. I have made it at several parties and it always goes fast. It is a Pampered Chef Recipe
Hot Spinach and Artichoke Dip (15 min prep time - Bake time 20-25 min)
1 jar 6 oz marinated artichoke hearts, drained and coarsely chopped
1 pkg. (9-11 oz) frozen creamed spinach, thawed
1/4 C mayonnaise
1/4 C sour cream
1 small garlic clove, pressed
1/2 C (2oz) grated fresh parmesan cheese
Diced red bell pepper (optional)
1. Preheat oven to 375*F. Coarsely shop artichoke hearts, place in bowl. Add spinach, mayonnaise, and sour cream
2. Press garlic into bowl. Grate parmesan cheese into bowl, mix well. Spoon into a small baker.
3. Bake 20-25 min or until heated through. Garnish with red bell pepper, if desired.
I serve this with those toll house topper crackers. But you can use any crackers or baked pita chips.
I just made this one the other day at a party and everyone raved about it.
Bistro Chicken Twist (another Pampered Chef recipe)
I pretty much doubled the recipe for the main ingredients
1 C chopped cooked chicken (I used about 2 to 2 1/2 C of chicken)
1/2 C diced red bell pepper
1/4 C snipped fresh basil
1/4 C plus 2 TBSP (1 1/2 oz) grated fresh parmesan cheese (I used 1/2 C plus 2 TBSP)
1/2 C (2oz) shredded mozzarella cheese (I used 1 C)
1/4 C mayo (I used 1/2 C)
1 garlic clove pressed
2 Pkgs. (11 oz each) refrigerated french bread dough
1 egg white, lightly beaten
1 tsp italian seasoning mix
1. Preheat oven to 375*F. Chop chicken. Dice bell pepper. Snip basil. In a bowl, combine chicken, bell pepper, basil, 1/4 C of parmesan cheese (again I used 1/2 C), mozzarella cheese, mayonnaise and garlic, pressed. Mix well.
2. Place dough, seams side up, on a large cutting board. Using a bread knife, slice loaf lengthwise, end to end, cutting halfway through to center of loaf; spread open flat. Lightly sprinkle flour evenly over dough. Using a roller, roll dough crosswise to a 4 in. width, creating a well down the center of each loaf.
3. Spoon half of the chicken mixture down center of each loaf. Gather up edges over filling, pinching firmly to seal. Place loaves, seam side down in an "X" pattern on baking stone or baking sheet. (I used my round stone for it though). Crisscross ends of dough to form a large figure "8", keeping ends of dough 1 in. from edge of stone and leaving two 1 1/2" openings in center of twist.
4. Combine egg white and seasoning mix; lightly brush over dough, Cut a 3 inch slit in each of the top sections of the twist to reveal filling. Sprinkle remaining parmesan cheese over loaf. Bake for 30 - 32 min or until deep golden brown. Remove and cool for 10 minutes. Yeilds 8 servings.

I do exactly what others posted for the meatballs - grape jelly and chili sauce. I use 1/2 jar of grape jelly and 1 jar of chili sauce for 2 packages of weenies. My kids LOVE this and are so jealous that I am making this Saturday for my cookie exchange party (they won't be here!).

Sorry if this has already been posted but here is a great dip recipe that always goes over well whenever I make it.
Jimmy Dean Dip:
1 roll of Jimmy Dean Sausage (frozen section - I use regular, not hot)
2 pkgs of Cream Cheese (Lite or whipped is fine)
1 Can or Rotel Diced Tomatoes and Green chiles (near taco items in store.)
1 Pkg Monterray Jack cheese
Brown up the Jimmy Dean sausage in a frying pan. It helps if you thaw it a little first. I keep pulling it apart as it browns. Once it's no longer pink, add in the two containers of cream cheese. Also, drain the Rotel can and add that. It won't look too pretty but it will soften up after a few minutes on low heat.
Transfer it to a pie plate and cover the top with the monterray jack shredded cheese. Pop in the oven for a few minutes to melt the cheese. I take it out when it starts to bubble.
Serve with your favorite crackers and chips.

Here is another recipie for cocktail weenies in the crockpot:
INGREDIENTS:
• 1 cup ketchup
• 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
• 1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
• 2 teaspoons soy sauce
• 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
• 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
• 1 pound hot dogs, cut into bite-size pieces, or cocktail wieners,
smoked sausage, etc.
PREPARATION:
Combine everything but hot dogs in the slow cooker; cover and cook on high 1 to 2 hours, until well heated. Add hot dogs, stir, and cook another 1 to 2 hours, until heated through. Turn to low to keep warm; serve from the slow cooker.

This one always goes fast at parties here:
BACON - WRAPPED WATER CHESTNUTS
1 (8 oz.) can whole water chestnuts, drained
1/4 c. soy sauce (or enough to cover the chestnuts)
1/4 c. sugar
8 slices bacon, cut in half crosswise
Marinate water chestnuts in soy sauce at least 30 minutes; drain and roll each in sugar. Wrap each water chestnut with a piece of bacon, securing with a toothpick. Place them on a cookie sheet that has been lined with aluminum foil (trust me you don't want to have to scrub the pan afterwards). Bake them at 400 degrees for 30 minutes or until golden brown.
They can be prepared ahead of time and stored in refrigerator until ready to bake.

For Spicy Meatballs:
1 bag frozen meatballs
3/4 cup Hot Sauce (you can use more or less depending on how hot you want them)
2 sticks butter/margarine
Melt butter/margarine in small sauce pan. Stir in hot sauce. Place frozen meatballs in crockpot and pour butter/hot sauce mixture over them. Stir frequently.

Does the soy sauce make them taste saltier or bitter? I was going to make these by simply wrapping with the bacon, sprinkling with brown sugar, and then baking (found on the 'net), but this sounds good too, and I like to try "triedn and true" recipes ;) I'm just a little worried about how the soy sauce affects the taste. Hope I'm making sense - I was up til 2am making cookies for my cookie party  Great thread :thumbsup2

I think the soy really adds to the taste. Plus you roll them in sugar after the soy so that takes away the saltieness of the soy.

Here are a couple recipes everyone requests at my parties...
Cheesy Pinwheels:
Pillsbury crescent rolls
Garlic and Herb cheese spread
Prosciutto
Roll out rolls and press together perforations
spread out cheese spread leaving 1/2 inch on one long side
place on thin layer of prosciutto
Roll along longer side then using sharp knife cut half inch pinwheels
Bake at 350 until dough cooks until slightly brown
(some use ham but I prefer he prosciutto)
Pepperoni Bread:
frozen pizza dough thawed
sliced American cheese (about 3/4lb per dough ball)
package pepperoni slices
sliced cheddar (a couple slices or other cheese of choice)
Roll out pizza dough
Cover with American cheese, then pepperoni, then a small amount of cheddar
roll then press closed all ends
rub butter on top
Bake at 350 until golden brown
(I have used the Pillsbury pizza dough but it does not work nearly as well)
Tonight for dinner we made the mea.balls (we used vegetarian, but you could get normal pre-cooked frozen ones) and the Ikea cream. Add cream sauce mix, and serve. Easy and tasty/

Our family likes sweet and sour hot dogs. Sounds weird but so good. We usually serve it with slices of french bread (for dipping) MMMMMM
Take 2 cups of grape jelly (and a bit of water to thin out) Heat on stove until melted. Add in 1 cup of yellow mustard. Once combined, put in crockpot and add in 3 lbs of hots dogs (cut in small pieces---we usually cut them on an angle)
Cook on low for about an hour (just until heated through) ENJOY!!!

Something a little different. I make these, but instead of the soy sauce, I cover them in sweet and sour sauce (I use LaChoys - found in the Asian cooking section) and bake (or microwave). YUM! Haven't had them in a while and now I think that I will have to make them for tomorrow evening. :)

Another great idea! A family favorite anytime for us:
Pepperoni rolls:
Package refridgerated crescent rolls
Pepperoni pillow pack
Shredded mozz. cheese
Open rolls, separate. Place a few slices pepperoni, sprinkle with cheese. Roll them up so that they are sealed. Place on ungreased cookie sheet (I like the pampered chef stone) and bake as directed on the package.
Serve with pizza dipping sauce. Easy and yummy!
:teeth:
A bag of frozen meatballs
A small jar of grape jelly
A small jar of chili sauce (not regular chili in a can, it is found near the ketchup in most stores)
Empty all ingredients in a crock pot and stir occasionally until meatballs are heated thoroughly.
1 lb browned ground chuck
1 package taco seasoning
1 can nacho cheese soup
mix together, warm and serve with tortilla chips
this one we love......a strawberry dip
one tub of marshmellow fluff (found near the peanut butter and jelly)
one brick of philly cream cheese
whole strawberries
.......mix the fluff and the cream cheese good and dip the strawberries in and enjoy!!!
vicki
We love this one too!! The only difference is we add 1 T of lemon juice. We add food coloring to match the season, decor...whatever! My DDs love pink and lavender.
thanks for all of these

I take 6/7 greenbeans and wrap a peice of bacon around them secure with a toothpick. Put in a baking dish and pour dressing over them. Bake them at 350 for about 25 mins turning once. They are SOOOO good but sticky!!
Another Fav is Corn Salad
2 cans corn drained well
1 large can sliced black olives drained well
cucumber diced
red onion diced
bacon cooked and crumbled
green onions sliced
red pepper diced (optional)
1 big bottle of ranch dressing

Just saw a variation on the baked brie in one of those little cookbook magazines they have at the checkouts. You hollow out a round bread, place a whole brie inside (you can use big bread/big brie or small bread/small brie) and then bake it right in the bread. Much easier than trying to put puff pastry around it. And you can also put your toppings into or on top of. (I use apricot preserves and pecans usually on top when I bake a brie.)

I am NOT a "natural" cook, so could someone help me with this? I bought a brie, Hawaiian round bread and some apricot preserves for a party tomorrow night, but I don't know how long to bake it at what temp. And I don't know whether you back the preserves on it or just dump it on there after it's done. Or if you eat it with the bread you hollowed out. Or if you put the top back on to bake the brie inside. HELP!!! PLEASE!! GOTTA COOK TOMORROW!!

Well this will take awhile to cook but if you are going to be at home it is so worth it.
I buy a shank portion ham and put it in the crock pot and add 1 cup of water and let it cook all day when the meat starts falling off the bone you need to go ahead and take the bone out.
The ham will end up being shredded and i bake little yeast rolls and make ham rolls.
This ham is the best I have ever had and i make this at Thanksgiving along with a Turkey and the ham is always gone within minutes.

OK...you're off to a good start...that Hawaiian bread is YUMMY!
The easiest would be to do this: Cut the top off the bread and hollow out enough to fit the brie you have. Because the rind on the brie can be hard to 'get through' I'd cut the rind of the brie off the top and then slice it in half (so you have 2 circles, not 2 half circles if that makes sense). Spread a good amount of preserves (so it's about 1/4 in thick I'd say) in the middle of the brie and on the top of the brie (this will make it look very pretty on top) and place the brie into the bread. You can add chopped pecan or walnuts to the top if you want but it's not necessary. Put the whole thing on a cookie sheet and bake at 350deg for about 15-20 mins (you'll want the cheese to be melty in the middle but be sure the bread or preserves doesn't burn, just keep an eye on it). Because the Hawaiian bread is soft it may be hard to eat with the bread but I'd cut what you pulled out of the middle and the top into bit sized pieces. And I'd also serve hearty crackers and apple slices (dipped into lemon water after slicing to keep them from turning brown). Put the bread bowl and all the dippers onto a large platter and be sure to put a spread or butter knife out with it. You can also pull pieces off the bread bowl to dip too.
Hope that was specific enough! I'm here at work so post again if you still have questions and I'll check back in a little while! Hope it turns out awesome! :goodvibes

Here's a tasty dip for tortilla chips:
1 roll of ground sausage
1 can Rotel tomatoes
1/2 block of Velveeta cheese(half of the large size)
In a large skillet:
Brown and drain the sausage. Add the Rotel tomatoes and Velveeta and melt slowly. Simmer for about 15-20 minutes.
AWESOME!

Broccoli Dip:
1 Large brick of Velveeta
1 Box frozen Chopped broccoli
2 cans cream of mushroom soup
2 tbsp butter or margarine
Pickled jalapenos to taste
Melt butter, saute broccoli until it thaws, empty both cans of soup to pot, chop cheese add gradually while stirring, chop 2 or 3 whole jalapenos depending on how hot they are add to mix and add juice from jar to adjust heat.
A different twist is to substitute 1 lb of ground beef for the broccoli.
Another one of my favorites (a little more expensive, ok a lot more) prosciutto or serrano ham, membrillo (quince paste) and a sharp cheese like Manchego or white cheddar serve on melba toast or a nice cracker.

There is a recipe on www.allrecipes.com for "Stuffed Mushrooms with Spinach". Oh my goodness....I could eat all of them myself. And if you have extra stuffing left, you can heat it and serve with bread or chips like spinach artichoke dip.
Basically you take mushrooms and chop up the stems. I used baby bellas.
Saute 6 slices of bacon and chop
Saute some garlic
Mix bacon with garlic, one box of cooked chopped spinach, mushroom stems and add some shredded parmesan cheese. Add a tiny bit of heavy cream and cook together in saute pan.
Stuff the mushrooms and bake for about 20 minutes in a 350 degree oven.
So easy and so yummy!! I like them because I get tired of cream cheese or bread crumb stuffings.
Enjoy!

I always enjoyed hot nacho dip but a neighbor brought over the best version...
cream cheese spread in a pan
Tastefully Simple Corn and Black Bean Salsa spread on top
sprinkle sharp cheddar on top and bake until cheese is melted.
Serve with nacho chips (Tostidos scoops are my favorite)
It is heavenly, I could eat the whole pan...

Here is a super easy one. Put 1 pkg. cream cheese on platter, pour jalapeno jelly or red pepper jelly over the top, pop in microwave for a few seconds just to soften but not to lose shape and there you go! Serve with crackers. The jalapeno jelly is not hot and is a bright green. The first time I saw this i thought hmmmm odd, but I am glad I did!

I made this to take to my cousin's grad party over the summer. I didn't use as much pineapple topping as it called for because I didn't want it to be too sweet. I also used crescent rolls because the store was out of pizza crust. It's very good as a dip without the crust.

Tropical Crab Rangoon
1 can (13.8 oz) Pillsbury® refrigerated classic pizza crust
1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup mayonnaise or salad dressing
1/2 teaspoon Chinese hot mustard, if desired
1/4 teaspoon garlic salt
1 can (8 oz) sliced water chestnuts, drained, coarsely chopped
1 can (6 oz) lump crabmeat, drained
1/4 cup SMUCKER'S® Pineapple Ice Cream Topping
2 cups shredded Monterey Jack cheese (8 oz)
4 medium green onions, chopped (1/4 cup)
DIRECTIONS
1. Heat oven to 400°F. Spray large cookie sheet or 16-inch pizza pan with CRISCO® Original No-Stick Cooking Spray. Unroll pizza crust dough on cookie sheet; press dough into 17x12-inch rectangle. Bake 7 to 9 minutes or just until crust is light golden brown.
2. Meanwhile, in large bowl, beat cream cheese, mayonnaise, mustard and garlic salt with electric mixer on medium speed until smooth. Stir in water chestnuts and crabmeat, being careful to break up crabmeat as little as possible.
3. Spread crabmeat mixture over partially baked crust to within 1 inch of edges. Spoon small spoonfuls of pineapple topping evenly over crabmeat mixture; spread evenly. Sprinkle with Monterey Jack cheese and onions.
4. Bake 12 to 15 minutes longer or until cheese is bubbly and crust is golden brown. Cool 5 to 10 minutes before cutting.

Blue Cheese and Honey Bruschetta
I know this may not sound good, but trust me it really is.
1 French baguette cut into slices, place on cookie sheet and put in broiler for a few minutes until it's toasty - be sure to keep an eye on it because it can burn fast.
Place a small slice of blue cheese on top of each slice of bread, while the bread is still warm. Drizzle with honey.

Actually, that sounds good. Do you put the baguette back in the oven once the cheese & honey are on top?

7-layer Mexican Dip
1 can refried beans
1/2 pkg taco seasoning mix
Sour Cream
Guacamole
1 pkg shredded cheddar or mexican mix cheese
green onions, sliced
tomato, chopped
sliced olives
Mix together beans & seasoning mix. Layer on the bottom of 9x9 pan. Layer on guacamole, then sour cream. Sprinkle cheese over that. Add layer of chopped tomatoes, a layer of green onions and top with olives. Serve with tortilla chips.
This is my DHs favorite dip of all time.
I make something similar to this, but with some different ingredients. I use a 9x13 glass casserole dish. 1 double sized can of fat-free refried beans, spread evenly. Take 1 brick of low-fat cream cheese, 16 oz of low-fat sour cream, and 1 packet of taco seasoning and mix well with a mixer. Spread that layer on top of the bean layer. Next, use about 12-16 oz of a thick & chunky salsa (I like the Walmart brand), and spread that over the previous layer. Top with an 8 oz package of low-fat shredded cheddar or Mexican-blend cheese. On top, you can add sliced black olives if you want. Tastes better the 2nd day, after the flavors have blended. I make this with fat-free and low-fat ingredients and no one knows the difference, lol. ;)

This is simple, elegant and easy to fix ahead.
Brie pastries – individual size
1 box phyllo dough
½ cup melted butter
1 chunk Brie Cheese
Thaw the phyllo dough. Lay out 1 sheet and brush with butter. Overlap another sheet on top and brush with butter again. Repeat 1 more time until you have 3 sheets. (Keep phyllo dough covered as it dries out very quickly.)
Chunk Brie cheese into 1”x1”x1/2” sizes.
Cut phyllo dough into 8 pieces. Cut into 4 strips and then cut in half crosswise. Place cheese on one end and wrap cheese using a flag wrap fold (will be a triangle when done.) Brush the last flap with butter to seal and brush tops with butter.
Place on cookie sheet in the center of a preheated 425 degree oven. Bake until golden brown, about 15 to 20 minutes.
The best is to serve with your favorite fruit or jam. YUMMMMMMM!! :dogdance:

a good one that a friend gave to me:(i believe it was an atkins one)
Cream cheese
deli ham sliced to your liking (lunchmeat cuts)
pickles ( i use kosher dill)
Take a piece of the ham and put it on a plate or cutting board spread some of the cream cheese on it then setthe pickle on and roll it up (so the meat/cc is like a blanket to the pickle) then cut itno bite size pieces and continue on making more thill you have what you want. if i am using it for guests i put toothpicks in it if just for us i dont.

Brown 1 LB GROUND BEEF or Ground Sausage
stir in 1 can refried beand
stir in 1 can chopped green chilis
spread in 81/2 by 11 pan
spread 1 jar of salsa over the top
top with 2 cups of Colby/Jack shredded cheese (or you can use the mexican blend)
bake at 350 for 20 minutes
serve with tortilla chips, sour cream and Guacamole
We're having LeCellier's cheddar cheese soup as part of Christmas Eve. While breadsticks are the obvious choice to go with it, I'm thinking I also want something else but without cheese, cream, etc. I'll be looking back over this list...

beer cheese dip - a dip with two of my favourite things!:goodvibes
ETA I like to buy a whole small Camembert (the one in a wooden box), take off the plastic wrapper (VERY important :rotfl:) and return the cheese to the box. Peirce the cheese with a skewer, rub surface with a slice of garlic, sprinkle on some thyme leaves and drizzle a little olive oil. Then pop the lid on, put the box on a small tray in a medium oven for about 15-20 mins until the cheese is all squishy. Break through the top crust with breadsticks etc and eat like a fondue. You can do this with a bigger one but it takes longer. Sometimes it cools a bit quickly, but you just pop it back in the oven for a few mins and its fine. If you plan to use the microwave make sure the box has no metal staples!!

Meatballs in a crockpot
One package of meatballs
2 large jars of grape Jam
2 large jars of yellow mustard
Put everything in the crockpot and about 20 minutes later give it a stir. Let it cook for 1 hour and serve.
Buffalo Chicken Dip is great too. Just google the reciepe. When someone brings this to work it smells up the office and our mouths water all day

I made a new app for my ds's birtday party a few weeks ago, it was a hit.
Drizzle with olive oil and then toast french bread rounds, like for bruschetta.
This can be done ahead.
When ready to serve, spread each toast piece with some herb garlic cream cheese (like Boursin). I made my own with cream cheese and Tastefully Simple Spinach and Herb blend.
Top each toast piece with a small, overlapped piece of rare roast beef.
Then a slice of a very small plum tomato and some chopped scallions.
That's it!

Round Pumpernickle Bread with Beer Cheese Dip
2 10oz containers of Wispride Cheddar Cheese
8oz container whipped cream cheese
8oz Bleu Cheese
1 can of beer (add gradually until desired dipping)
2 1# round loaves of pumpernickle
Mix dip with mixer, adding beer gradually until a smooth, dipable consistency. Cut off top of loaves and hollow out. Pour dip into bread and tear the inside of loaf into bite size pieces for dipping. Serve with toothpicks.
*This is not cooked so the alcohol will remain in the beer. If this is a problem, use a non alcoholic version like O'doul's.

Mazda - the Wispride is a spread. It's very yummy! :teeth: Just seeing the name makes me crave it! :rotfl: They have a variation with port wine that is often seen at holiday gatherings here.
And I certainly think you could substitute another crumbly cheese for the bleu if you don't care for it. I don't think I'd use feta though. I think you'd need something drier.

Reading this you would probably think... what the ?!?! But a lady at work makes this and this stuff is really, really good!
On a round glass dish spread cream cheese, then top the cream cheese with cocktail sauce, then put on the top of that crab meat (she uses canned (?!) jumbo lump - so its layered on the plate.
Serve with some really good crackers and you basically scoop the stuff off the plate on your cracker and eat it.
It's really simple but it is sooo good. She makes this for us on large plates and it's the first thing gone. For her dinner parties, she does it on smaller plates - the itty bitty ones, and puts 3-4 crackers on top and people have their own little plate of happiness. It can be done ahead of time and wrapped in plastic wrap (maybe night before) and stacked the night before. She says the little plates she individually wraps and then wraps the stack in plastic before refrigerating.
Simple but it is good.
Another lady at work does cream cheese and pepper jelly and crackers. Sort of the same concept but it is done with the cheese brick cut in half for smaller plates or the whole thing in the middle of the plate with pepper jelly spooned over the top. Good stuff. AND simple. :)
