What did she tell you that she was rude and made you cry? I don't get it?

Sorry Ana,

I had called DCL to let them know that Austin may not be walking on his own then and that we were told swimming may be out completely-I called them because all of our excursions are swim based! Swimming with the Dolphins in St. Maarten, a snorkeling adventure in St. Thomas, swimming with the manta rays in CC. I almost cancelled our trip in October when he first has his accident, but they assured me that we could trade excursions or make changes as needed to make sure he'll still have a great trip. When I called on Tuesday the lady said we could cancel but they wouldn't help with anything, TWICE! :confused3 So when I asked her to note that on our reservation number in case we decided to back out, her tune changed. Not OK with me! We are lucky to be in a suite, and Austin will have plenty of room to get around, but what about other children who have accidents and aren't staying in suites? Do their parents just cancel these trips they've been planning for 14 months? We won't know if Austin can swim on our trip until 2 days before we leave. Cutting in close huh? I'll quit nagging. If he can't swim, it means we go to the front of the line on every ride at WDW! We'll make do with other excursions and still enjoy it, but he really wants to be able to swim with sea turtles and dolphins. Think happy thoughts! pixiedust:

Hey, In 28 days I'll be at the port waiting to be checked in! Woo Hoo! :woohoo: Cosmos and martini flights are waiting for me there! pirate:

Ana-All done with finals for your semester? :teacher: I hope so!

Hi jellojatdisney,
I will be on the cruise with my husband and DD 4 1/2 (she'll be 5 in April so a bit more than 4 1/2)

We are all going to have sooooo much fun and it's coming up very fast...

Hi, just joining in b/c made our reservations 2 days ago. This is our first cruise ever and I am soo excited. Unfortunately, my husband and DS 6 can't join us. So it will be me and DD 4 1/2 and DD 2 1/2. My girls are good so it will be a great trip. Anyone else with kids the same age? I really want to try and get a reservation on board to Palo's. Any single (or not) travelers interested in joining me?

Welcome jellojatdisney!
party: :welcome: party:

My kids are the same age as yours. In fact, if you go to page 1, you will see plenty of us with kids that age! I'm sorry your DH and DS can't join you... :guilty:

Ana-All done with finals for your semester? :teacher: I hope so!Sheri, only 12 days to go. Today was my last clinical (which means that I go to the hospital to see patients). My final is on the 21st and I can't wait to finish up and really start preparing for the cruise. So, just a bit longer and I will be all done with this draining semester. I never ever thought nursing school was going to consume so much of my life.

Hi All,

Now that we are getting much closer to our cruise date I was wondering if we want to put our heads together and think about a few things we can do for the children in our group to make the cruise even extra special than it already will be. I've read on the boards that some groups (like us) get together and buy/make goodie bags and such for the kids. Anyone interested? I personally don't have children of my own (that will happen when I FINISH nursing school :goodvibes) but I have an 11 year old girl and a 22 month old boy traveling with me and I would love to do something for them and even YOUR children. So, anyone anyone? Anyone interested?

We can do something when we meet for the first time and/or during pirate night. My friend (which is like a sister to me) has purchased pirate banner to decorate the area right outside our cabins (which are side to side) and also pirate flags. I am going to order pirate goodie bags to put treats like candy and small toys.

Sooooo, what are your ideas?

And, Yes! I would love to make some goodie bags for the kiddos! Mine are young teens, but they would love some goodies to sit on deck and watch Pirates with! Keep me posted how you want to do this!

Welcome Jellojatdisney! You'll have a great time with your little ones. That's too bad the rest of the family couldn't join you, but you'll go back again! Once you've gone DCL, it's hard to cruise with any other line! It's the best!

I think it could be a good idea, but do you know that there are more than 30 kids under 15 on our list? That makes a lot of goody bags...

I think it could be a good idea, but do you know that there are more than 30 kids under 15 on our list? That makes a lot of goody bags... :crazy:It's just an idea. I think if we all do a little we can make it special. Hey, if not I'll just take care of two kids traveling with me. It's just that I will be buying goodie bags from Oriental Trading and some other stuff and you know how everything you buy from them is bulk so I figured we can all get together and do something for the kids.

This doesn't have to be done. I've just read on other boards how they've done things for the kids in their groups which were bigger than ours.

Again, this is JUST an idea.

Oh, and what ever happened to the idea of the green bracelets to identify each other? I think that is a good idea too!

Hi Ana!

I'm sorry if I seemed harsh, I didn't mean to. :guilty: We don't have Oriental Trading out here. I just looked at their website and they sure seem to have some nice goodies at fair prices! The only place I could think about was my local dollar store and it isn't nowhere near Oriental Trading! Do they have bracelets as well? I've looked out a few web sites, but you had to order at least 250 bracelets!

If we can't do bracelets there's always the alien green Mickey paint chips from Home Depot, but I like the bracelets because you can wear them the hole cruise and it's not too obvious.

How "formal" are formal nights? Are we talking black cocktail dress - short - long - or the full length bridesmaids dress that I recently wore (it is actually very nice - not one of those awful one's)?

I haven't actually looked around for the bracelets. I was going to search on the boards to see if any other groups had done that and where they got there bracelets. I'll do a bit of searching tomorrow and get back to you.

Can't wait till our trip!!!

Sorry if I have seemed a bit slow to catch on here. I just spent the time (probably more than I had but I was determined) to read the thread from the beginning. So now I feel like I know each of you a little bit.

Couple of questions:
Is the meeting still on for 1/6 at 2:30 in the Promenade Lounge? I would love to meet all of you and my DDs (4 1/2 and 2 1/2) would love to meet the other kids both big and small.

Is anyone managing the virtual cruise album since Captain Jack left? If I can figure out how to with my new digital camera I will send a picture of the girls and me.

Ana I love your door sign. Now I feel motivated. My girls will get a kick out of it. I'll have to find something princess.

In regards to the virtual cruise site, last thing I heard was that Soleilmagie was going to take it over (am I right Soleilmagie?). It would be great to add more pictures to the site since lots more people have joined us.

Thanks for the reminder of the door sign. I made that back in January when I booked the cruise but have never gotten around to printing it on magnetic paper. I hope to get the paper in the next few weeks.

I've gained so much weight and haven't purchased any pretty dresses since I've gained the weight. :guilty: Oh well, I being buying a dress soon.

the last all nighter, project and final has been completed and i'm ready for some fun. i still have a crazy weekend at the restaurant ahead of me, but that i'm used to. we still have pirate costumes to make, our sewing machine broke so we borrowed one from rose costumes, but we got the marriage license and flu shots today, mom insisted on the shots so we don't get sick before the wedding and cruise. the dress is being altered, by mom, and really when you think about, that and making sure DF shows up is all that is really important. of course, it would be hard for him to skip out on things, i know where he lives.......

bullseyebaby - palo is worth dressing up if you like good food! and i think we are also on deck 7

bullseye - they set aside some reservations for palo, spa treatments, etc to be made upon arrival on the ship. they will have these places and times posted somewhere when you board or ask the front desk. they usually have a certain time set aside for these that day, but my sister and i discovered that they "open" a little earlier than the time stated so there's still a chance.

we also have palo reservations on sunday/formal night. i have been working on a packing list and trying to remember what it is that we'll need. i do have the spreadsheet downloaded from the boards of what people suggest you bring and i'll have to go over that again soon.

all my holiday shopping is done i think, thank goodness for amazon.com and delivery right to your door........
i didn't have much this year, my mom and sister and i already got each tickets to the dallas summer musicals, so that took a good chunk of shopping out of my hands.

wedding rsvps are starting to arrive in the mail and like all of you, i can't believe it's 3 weeks away. i just survived our busiest weekend of the year at the restaurant and even made time to attend a good friend's graduation dinner. just 4 girls with wine and crab legs, it was great!

happy holidays!

Hello All! So sorry to have missed meeting new folks on the cruise meet, and keeping up with everyone's good news (congrats NYAna and akamaleficent!) We very nearly had to postpone our vacation due to dh's work schedule, but now it seems we can go ahead as planned (YAY!) so now I can finally get really excited :cheer2:

I just emailed CaptainJack about sending him our family photo to upload, so it should be posted to the album soon. We are still planning to be at the cruise meet at 2:30pm on Saturday, so I hope to meet you all there. My kids are also very excited to make some new friends and cruise buddies.

For those who might be looking for cute pirate shirts, I found some great ones online at Cafepress (a bit out of the ordinary, but several have quotes from the PofC movie)--the name of the store is Pirate's Closet.

Now I need to get some formal wear ;) :thumbsup2

Got our cruise docs too! We're sooo excited! I finally figured out how to email Captain Jack... I tried through the DISboards, but to no avail. Then I realized that he put his personal email somewhere about 1/2 way through the thread (thanks Capt!). Hey, when you're new at this stuff you hope you come across people who can tolerate a rookie! ;) Hopefully he'll get our picture & post it too.

akamaleficent~ thanks for the details on Palo. We'll see if we can get a reservation.

Hello All! So sorry to have missed meeting new folks on the cruise meet, and keeping up with everyone's good news (congrats NYAna and akamaleficent!) We very nearly had to postpone our vacation due to dh's work schedule, but now it seems we can go ahead as planned (YAY!) so now I can finally get really excited :cheer2:Thanks so much! I am all done with this stressfull semester! Yippee! Now I can really focus on the cruise! :rotfl:

Is anyone else flying in and taking the Magical Express bus or have they taken it in the past? Is it worth the $59 per person? It seems to be the most reasonable way to get to port canaveral. If anyone has other suggestions, please let me know.

Bullseyebaby - We are taking the Disney Transfer as well. We fly in on Friday night and needed to stay at the airport b/c of the little ones. I actually got a much better rate through Disney for the Hyatt (~$180). Since we are only 3 (and I don't have to pay for DD2) the Disney Transfer made sense. I was told that we can take the first shuttle at 9:30 to the Port. I went for the easiest least stressful route since my DH won't be joining us.

~jellojatdisney~Is that the Hyatt at the airport? We stayed there for a few hours when we had a late flight. Nice hotel, should be easier for you to travel with two little ones (oh, I remember those days!). We're on the red-eye from CA, so we'll probably be leaving on the bus around the same time. We might stop for breakfast in the airport first... then go. I can't believe it's only12 days away! We're so excited!

bullseyebaby - yes it is the Hyatt at the airport. We have walked underneath it so many times. It should be smooth sailing (I hope!). We'll look for you on the early morning shuttle. I am sure that you will spot me with the two girls (2 and 4).

BTW I have been to Temecula once and had such a nice time. It was probably 14 years ago - did some wine tasting.

Hey guys, long time no talk. Freaking OUT :scared1: (in a good way) because we are so close to FUN FUN FUN!! :cool1: Also freaking out because none of my summer clothes fit me...gotta love the holidays. Anyway, we are set with Palo for dinner, Palo for brunch, AND my cool DD (Disney dad)...aka Santa...surprised me with a spa treatment in my stocking. :woohoo: I'm so excited I'm going to cry. Is there anyone here who is not doing a Disney-sponsored excursion? I read on another thread that people have rented jeeps on the islands to cruise around to secluded beaches and such. Sounds awesome, but I don't know if it's safe. Any suggestions?

Hi Supercalidisgirl!

The spa is really fun! What a nice Santa you have!

When we did the 4 day cruise and stopped in Nassau, we did our own excursion to the Atlantis resort. It was really easy and loads of fun! But, we are sticking with Disney for this eastern cruise. We don't know the areas and there wasn't a whole lot of info online about which excursions were best or what was different and fun to do. We're scheduled for the Dolphin swim in St. Maarten, the Captain Nautica's snorkeling tour at turtle island in St. Thomas, and then the CC special package with snorkeling, bike, and stingray swim.

11 days away! I am so excited!:woohoo:

See you soon!

Hey Everybody,

Well, we made it through the holidays ( and a really tough semester of school, too). I hope everyone had a great Christmas, and wish you all a Happy New Year. Now we're able to really think about the cruise. DW and I both have off from work today, so we're going to start packing. At least we'll start pulling together the things we think we're going to pack, and see what we are missing.

I can't believe the countdown is finally winding down. We're in the single digits now!!

Ack! Can't believe we are almost there! I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and/or a Happy Hanukkah! Unfortunately, Santa must have thought I was naughty and brought me a killer stomach virus on the 26th and I have been laid low since. All is well now, and the kids/dh haven't gotten sick yet, so we should be fine to leave for WDW on Wed.

I finally figured out that I needed to email my family photo to CaptainJack's personally addy, so that should be up soon---thanks again, CaptainJack!

Album updated. SurfnTurf and family has been added. If anyone needs me to update the album and add a picture or needs the link to the album, let me know.

Hope everyone is almost ready. As it turns out, postponing the cruise was the best thing for us. I have had a nasty cough for 10 days, Bekah just got over the flu, and Raquel was not feeling well for a couple of days. I would have hated to show up with someone in the family having a cough and cold and been turned away from boarding the ship.

thank you for all of your wedding wishes. we are making it somehow, it seems that there is always something that needs to be purchased, made, or gathered and not enough time or money to do it. i thought this was a small informal wedding, and though it still is, there seems to be more stuff to do that i had anticipated.

we've been taking vitamin C and zaicam to stay safe from all the people around us with killer colds. i'm sorry the captian jack family hasn't been well, but it was good to hear from you.

We are in the final preparations as we are leaving for Montreal tomorrow afternoon and taking the plane on New Year's day.

Of course, I had to add one more suitcase. Those formal, semi-formal and pirate wear (and matching shoes) take lots of space. If we were going to WDW only, I would only have two, and now we have four suitcases and a garment bag! :scared1:

I better get going if I don't want to go to bed to late!

We are leaving early, early Thursday morning (4:00AM from our house) for WDW. Last year we did the same thing and my DD was up in 2 seconds and ready to go so I know I don't have to worry about her getting up, I'm just worried that I won't hear my alarm.

We are getting so excited... :woohoo:

We have Disney transportation from Caribbean Beach Resort to Port so not sure what time we will be on the boat...hopefully not too late. I've read the buses make late stops at the hotels... Has anyone taken one of the Disney cruise Line buses from WDW to Port?

Oh, we're soooo sad our vacation has come to an end:sad:

I didn't see the post before we left about meeting in the promenade lounge... I thought it was in the terminal, so i kept looking for a group of people.

We had an amazing dining staff this time (yeah, table 61 late~ Steve & Jonathan). The food was far superior than I remember in previous DCL cruises, although it's alwasy been great! My favorite was Palo. We've never done that before, and it's the best! Still didn't find a "Martini flight" but we did the martini tasting. Yummy! I think the host was getting a bit tipsy from drinking them. Their cosmopolitans were the best I've ever tasted. The chocolate martini was divine. :thumbsup2 Help, I'm having withdrawls :crazy2:

Did anyone else's kids get a little sea sick from the rough seas? Do you think it's standard to be that rough? We're debating on going on the Western one again, since the last western one we went on was re-directed & we didn't get to go to Cozumel. Anyone been on both and can give us their opinion of which is better? We could have done without going into St. Marteen.... the one stop we made in the French part of the island we had to pay $1 to use the restroom!

On the way back from Port to WDW, we had this crazy cruise line bus driver.... new on the job apparently. Anyone else on that bus?

High Ho, High Ho....it's back to work I go... Laundry x 4 :laundy:

According to the 2nd officer of engineering that came out to the Making of the Magic Q&A, the seas were at a 5 out of 10. One of our tablemates was so seasick that we only saw her Saturday night and then Friday night! I felt so bad for her.

Regarding the ports, I far preferred St Maarten to St Thomas. We took a public bus over to the French side of St Martin, and wandered around a lot. It was great seeing the kids getting out from school and getting a feel for the island and local culture. We took the bus back, dropped stuff off on the ship, then went back out and strolled around on the Dutch side. I found that St Maarten/St Martin felt much more like a real place where people actually go about their daily life, as opposed to the flea market feel of St Thomas. The one cool little place we found in St Thomas was an old mall down a small alley with a coffee shop/internet cafe and some art galleries.

Were you on one of the excursions? If so, which one?

The cruise was a great introduction to cruising for me, and I can't wait to go on the next one. I wish I could swing the transatlantic cruise this summer, but unfortunately, I'm all out of DVC points at this time.

I did add 50 more though!! :cheer2:

Hi everyone!

I feel the same way! I miss the ship! I miss our tablemates (from Canada), I miss having my dinner made and served for me, and I miss having my bed made and my towel picked up for me!

I met only of us from the board, Akamaleficent! I was so thrilled to meet you and your hubby! Congrats again! And thanks for letting me join you during martinis. We went to the 2nd martini tasting and didn't get the cosmo or the green apple or the chocolate. We got the harsh tasting traditional alcohol ones (lemontini, passiontini, cucoa, and one with burbon-icky to me, but everyone else seemed to enjoy them).

We preferred St. Thomas to St. Maarten, I think only because of the excursions. We loved our St. Thomas excursion (Doubloon and Snorkel tour) that we did with akamaleficent and hubby and the Marchands (met them, too-sorry!). I would do that again and again! So much fun and such good punch!

Tried to book another cruise, but all the suites were gone until April of 08 so I waitlisted for Nov. 08 on either the Western or the Eastern. Although I would love to cruise again sooner, it isn't worth it to use your points for a suite, plus we spent too much $$$$$ on all that art we bought! My house will look great though!

All the best everyone and thanks for a Magical cruise! :wave2: I enjoyed the company online while we were all waiting!:grouphug:

we also had a wonderful time and i plan on writing out a trip report and some tips we gathered onboard within the next few days. we extended our honeymoon to our last day at home before having to go to work/school and opened our gifts while drinking champagne a good friend left in our fridge as a welcome home gift.

we also enjoyed the doubloon sail, partly due to the great crew and the great company, tinkerbellmom and the marchands, partly due to the punch too i guess!! we also did the beach bash and that was only okay, but not an expensive excursion so okay was alright with us. i did feel the rough seas quite a but on monday and was in and out of the cabin resting a lot until DH went to the health center and got me their motion meds. much better the the sea bands, dramamine, and bonine i had taken and was feeling pretty good by dinner time. the seas were almost as rough on thurs and since i took their stuff at the beginning of the day, i was great all day.

we loved the shows, the food, palo brunch being my favorite, and our dinner mates were fun too. our servers were okay, they did a good job but we didn't fall in love them. i think it might have had to do with the general age of our table. everone else was inbetween the ages of 16-21 and i think maybe they focused on the tables with their parents at them.

serenity beach at castway key was totally worth it, we had a great time lounging there and caught the 2 for 1 bahama mama special on the way off the island.

we spent tons of money on pictures, but it was worth it b/c they were great.

i am currently typing this out on my new macbook pro that came in the mail while we were gone. this is very exciting for me and as soon as i get things squared away with it and learn what i need to know i will post some pictures. we got great ones with our award-winning pirate costumes and lots of pirate characters.

glad to meet the people did, and hope everyone had the magical time that we did.

:cheer2:
Wow, you're St. Marteen adventure sounded better than ours! I know the people & staff that are on the tour make such a difference. We took a bus around the island & the little submarine. (See & Sea tour, I think it's called). Anyhow, the fish were just a few different kinds, nothing spectacular. The little mall we stopped at 1/2 way in between was nothing special, although I did find some cologne for my DH. We probably should have done something a little more adventurous. On St. Thomas...we went over to St. Johns and did the Trunk Bay snorkel. That was one of the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen. The time there was short, but enough to enjoy what it had to offer.

Anyone been on both the West & the East? is it too hard to compare/choose?

Hi everyone!

Wow, it's over. How sad. :sad1: Well, at least we can start planning the next one.

I had a great time. Thank God I didn't get sick with all the movement, but my friend Yhey was sick like a dog for about two days until a CM offered her one of those sea sickness pills. That helped her so much. She kept taking it every morning until will got off the ship and it worked great.

So I saw akamaleficent about a billion times on board. I hoped that she and her DH were not thinking that I was following them around. ha ha (I wasn't. I promise.) I think I saw you soleilmagie but I wasn't too sure and I was embarrassed to ask.

I too went to the Promenade Lounge at 2:40pm (a tad bit late because we too had gotten to the port later than planned and at that time we were at Topsiders having lunch). I actually split up from my group to go to the meet and waited for a few minutes and then I left. I figured everyone had already met (and I had missed the meet) or that everyone was running late too. Oh well. At least it sounds like everyone had a great time on this cruise.

I am actually still on vacation. I am in Miami visiting my dear mother for a week. So I am not returning to the real world for a few more days. Yippee! :yay:

I will be posting pics soon. I would love to see everyone's pictures too.

I'm taking a break from laundry! I've done three loads since I came back from work and have at least three more to do! :laundy:

I might say I finished unpacking: all the suitcases are empty, but there is stuff all over the place! And I'm not talking about the Christmas decorations I still have to take down!

We missed having people sitting at our table... We first had Don and Wanderson as servers (the first night), then were switched by head server Jeevan (same as our last cruise!) because a party was split up. So we had Svet and Leslie as servers, but we were still at a table for four.

We weren't really sick because of the rocking, but we were not well either. We didn't ask for medication though. Maybe we should have. It was worst when we stayed in our cabin too long. Perhaps because we had an inside cabin. I found it hard not to see outside. You wake up and you can't tell if it's midnight, 3am or 9:30am.

I think I will start writing a trip report before I post everything here. I was hoping to post some pictures tonight, but couldn't go to the mall at lunchtime because there was no power for about two hours today, then a snowstorm. Talk about getting back to reality! :cold:

Hello Everyone! I am remiss in posting since our cruise, but wanted to check in. NYAna, I think my dd and I saw you and your dh at the Butterfly Farm but wasn't sure. I felt odd just barging up to you and asking. Maybe if I had had some rum in my punch I would have thrown embarrassment to the wind. At any rate, except for the sea sickness your friend experienced, it sounds like you too had a great cruise.

Soleilmagie, my dd and I did the early (crack of dawn!) Butterfly Farm and the morning Coral World excursions, so you may have seen us. I have tons of pics that I just today finally downloaded to my computer, so I will try to post them and maybe you and your family are in a few. Glad to hear that you also enjoyed the "mickey boat," as my kids now call it.

Akamaleficent, glad that I ran into you you and your dh a couple of times. Thank god you were dressed in Mickey bride and groom ears (and that you have unmistakeable red hair!) that first day, or I would have missed you. My dh took some pics of you and your hub with the characters at the sail away party---email me at dibock@starpower.net and I will send them to you. They are very cute ;)

We were late at lunch an missed the 2:30 meeting time at the Promenade lounge, so I am sorry I missed meeting everyone. We had a fabulous time and put a deposit down to book for Jan next year, although we may change the dates now. We really want to do a Western cruise next. We will definitely be sailing with DCL again in the future, though (gotta save up some money first ;).

We heard from several other folks that the seas were pretty rough compared to what they had experienced with previous Disney cruises, so hopefully that isn't typical. We were very lucky, though, and didn't really get sick. My dh got queasy on one of the rough days, but took Bonine and it worked like a charm. Miracle of miracles, the kids and I were fine the whole time. We were on deck 2, forward, and didn't feel the ship too badly in our room (not that we were in our room much ;) I will try to put together a real trip report and post it on that section of the board.

Is anyone else planning to go againb :woohoo:

We were on both, morning excursions also. I checked my pictures from the excursions, but we can't see anyone on them but my family or the animals. Can't wait to see your pictures!

On another topic, I forgot to mention we got an upgrade at the All Star Music on the 13th : we got one of the new family suites! :cool1:
It was great! It is two rooms transformed into one, but you still have the two bathrooms. On one side is a living room with a sofabed, an armchair-bed and an ottoman-bed. On the other side is a bedroom with a queen bed and a kitchenette with microwave, a sink and a small refrigerator. There is a tv on each side. There are new furniture, bedspreads, curtains, shower curtain, tiles, carpet, etc. And no outdated wallpaper. All the rooms should be renovated in a similar way.

We put our names on a waiting list for Fall of '08. We will definitely do a DCL trip again! All of us loved it! But I have to pay for all that art that we bought onboard the ship :scared1: !
