View Full Version : Laptops as carry-on
Does anyone know if laptop computers will still be allowed as carry-on luggage? Has anyone had any trouble with x-ray machines damaging their laptop?

I had no problem with my laptop at security when I flew on the 14th.
I called Delta yesterday and they said you can bring laptops on the plain. Hope this helps. Michelle

Yes you can bring your laptop, but you can only bring one carryon bag.
But there have been soo many things added to the can't bring on list, you might want to check it out. Basically anything that can be considered a weapon (sharp, metal or explosive) can not be carried on. News here has been showing confiscated items like hair spray, lighters, nail files, scissors and knives of all sizes.

Depends on the airline. SWA allows two carryons in addition to checked bags.
Yes, the laptop is allowed, and no, the xray will not hurt it. It did not harm our laptop, digital camera, digital camera compact flash or batteries. Warning: put the batteries for any camera in your checked bags. They look like bullets to the xray machine and they will search your stuff. We had our laptop carrier (it holds the laptop, camera and accessories) searched and "dusted" in BWI. Not a big problem, just time consuming.

I flew both last Wednesday and today with two carry-ons, including my laptop. The laptop was pulled aside both times and "dusted", but they never opened it or required it to be opened. It has gone through the X-ray machines (with my disks) probably 30 times or more--no problems ever!
