Liverpool v Benfica - tough draw - Come on you Reds.:jumping1:

Arsenal v Real Madrid will be a good game as both teams are attack minded. With a bit of luck Henry will be able to net a few against a very mediocre defense.

Didn't Chelsea have Barcelona last year? I seem to remember a huge build up, not particularly brilliant games and controversy between a Barca player and someone on the Chelsea bench.

21/22 Feb and 7/8 March

Joanne, I think you are right there ( though the home leg chelsea won 4:2) , however, after losing to Liverpool in last years semi, I doubt that Jose will accept failure!!!!

The chance to see all 3 nominees for World player of the year ( Eto`o, Lampard and Ronaldinho ) on the same pitch is great. ;)

Joanne - Chelsea/Barcelona last year has been nominated as one of the BEST games ever in a Champions League match!

Chelsea are going out, no way will Barca let them through again, they are awsome at the moment.

Liverpool are going through, Jose and Chelsea will be left without it again as Liverpool keep improving. To a certain extent Chelsea are surely under achieving when you bear in mind he must have spent 250+ million.

Chelseas money pails in comparison with Liverpools history.

COME ON YOU REDS!!!!!!

OK - maybe one leg was great and the other boring? Or, most likely I'm talking rubbish - girls shouldn't talk about footie right?!

Either way, as an Arsenal fan I want Barca to win.

When I saw the draw on teletext I found myself wondering why I couldn't see who Man Utd have got!

i watched the chelsea barca games last season and although there were a few goals, the only thing that sticks in my mind was that ronaldinhio goal at the bridge, other than that it they were ok. I dont know who voted them the best games in the champs league. Was it Chelsea fans?

I think the Gunners will go through and Liverpool too, but sorry Chelsea fans, no go.

January should be interesting as the mighty reds are trying to sign Benfica's top player Simao - although he couldn't play anyway they may be less likely to deal with us now.

Hi Johnny

I would love to see Tores from Athletico up front, he seem to have been in the spanish squad for donkeys years and he is still quite young. I think we are getting strong all over the park now, but up front a bit more firepower would be good. Owen Heskey Murphy (midfield I know, but an attacking player) have all gone in 3 seasons.

You use msn by they way mate?

Cheers

Steve

I cant see us playing them affecting whether they will sell him to us. BUT I think he is a little too much Garcia like and not an out an out winger that we need. I think we will win both legs. :teacher:

I am really looking forward to Ronaldinho wiping the floor with Chelski, no one ever mentions the goal that the No History team scored in one of the games when the Chelski attacker held down the goalie in the box, what come around.... :sunny:
I can see Arsenal coming through in a tough tight couple of games, I agree that Henry will prove to be class.

All you jealous Liverpool fans can spout all the vitriol you like, it does not alter the fact that this season the score was: Liverpool 1-4 Chelsea - wiped out in your own back yard by a scintillating performance, also beaten at a canter home and away in the Premiership last season and only beating Chelsea in the Chamions League with a goal that did not cross the line but then again normal rules don't apply at Anfield. Chelsea raise the game when needed and Barca will be licking their wounds yet again, Ronaldinho, E'too and all.....whilst Liverpool fight for second place in the Premiership with Man USA and Arsenal :teeth:

Shout the odds when you have won the European Cup (5 times by the way) -'normal rules' tell these to Mr.Essien at the Bridge  - funny that Mourinho didn't see the tackle from 10 yards but could see Garcia's 'goal' was not over the line from fifty...'2nd place'? I would be made up if we finished second this season.

Jealous, not - maybe of your money but nothing else, you cannot buy History :)

Your serve!!! :bitelip:

Don't you worry, the Russian Mafia boss who owns Chelski will buy the Champions league, like he has with the Championship.

have you seen a Man Utd dart board by the way?
All bull and no doubles or trebles.......

Think we need a right sided midfielder and a centre half...but yes we are getting stronger, we need investment though as we cannot compete with Chelski's millions.

MSN ?

I'm happy that my boys Rangers got Villareal. It will be a tough game but happy that it is not Barca or Real Madrid :)

This thread is going way off topic guys, it is supposed to be about the European Draw, and as such, can I please ask you to stay on topic, or the thread will be closed.

Thank you for your cooperation.

EDITED TO ADD: To get this thread back on track, I have deleted the last few posts, some of which have caused offence, can we now stick to the original topic of the European Cup Draw.

Thank You

Sue

I hope Rangers make it through, I think Villareal will be tough but then again at the last 16 stage I think all the games will be difficult - there are no easy games now.

So Man Utd, Liverpool and Arsenal have not spent any money over the past 30 years "buying" titles? Pound for pound taking into account inflation they have all spent more than Chelsea, it's just that Chelsea have had to catch up all in one go. Fans of these sides don't like to see a new kid on the block. Best of all, Chelsea fans just love it!

Your Man Utd joke is brilliant too!

Give it a rest! Everyone moved onto to talking sensibly when asked, couldn't you?

Take it elsewhere.

Good to see that as usual any discussion involving football degenerates into a slanging match :sad2:

Personally, my loyalty is to Liverpool, but at a European level, all English teams grab my attention. With T B Liar selling us down the river today, it is about time more of us realised that we need to stand up for ourselves, firstly as English/Scottish/Welsh/Irish, then as Britons. Come on people, grow up !!!!!!!

Guys

As no more on the subject of the European Cup looks as though its going to be discussed, I think its time to close this thread.
