Anyone ever used a party planner?

We are thinking of having a bit of a "do" for when we get Shelby Christened, and were thinking if getting someone in to make it that extra bit special - plus take the stress off us :) . have any of you ever used a planner? if so what did you think and do you have any recommendations?
