dont even know where to begin.

flew into orlando saturday at 3pm. no rep from magic express to direct you. had to find our way down to 1st floor and then find maginc express checkin as it is not highlighted or no arrows or directions. checked in and was on bus in a timely manner.

i was never told that it could take hours upon hours to get your luggage. we checked in at 5pm and was told by the front desk that luggage should be delievered to you in 3 hours after you land. not true. had to keep calling and was told it was finally there about 7pm and would be right up. didnt happen. finally called again and was told it is not even here yet. called back again and it was finally delivered. i think it may have been about 7:45pm.

room service was quick. nice menu. food is not good though. but, it is not good anywhere in disney. coffee was even worse. yuck. bring your own. wine is way way way overpriced. but, that didnt stop us anyway!

nice bing on monorail. kids liked that.

we had a tower room with a view of the magic knigdom. very cool to see princess castle change colors. was able to see fireworks. saw a cool night light water show in front of the floridian. walked around the polynesian. nice resort.

magic kingdom was fun. rainy day though. lots of people walk out of restrooms and dont bother to wash hands or their kids hands. gross. make sure you have lots of purell and wet ones and use often. bathrooms not very well makred at epcot. arrows point and then you have to search out restrooms.

the contemporary - nice, semiclean. you could tell the maid only wiped off the counters with a towel (probably one of our dirty ones) and did not disinfect the counters, sink, tub or toilet. beds were fine. enought closet and drawer space.

yes, the hotel is in need of updating and is noisy. but, what else can you expect at disney world?

not sure what else to say, let me know if any questions.

Welcome to the Dis! Thanks for sharing your trip report. A couple of points I would take issue with : the food and the rooms. We have many, many great meals at Disney each trip we take. Some of the restaurants are among the best we've ever eaten at - anywhere.

And we do tend to have quiet rooms - especially on our stays at DVC resorts. Glad you had a good trip though.

the noise did not bother us at all. i was just making a point.

and, in our opinions, which is what i thought this posting was supposed to be - it was some of the worst food we have ever eaten. i think it all depends on your taste. and for us (mom and dad) it was awful food.

My issue was just with this quote :

"food is not good though. but, it is not good anywhere in disney. "

My point was that this is a sweeping generalization. There is (in my opinion) a lot of good food at Disney. When I have a bad meal at Disney I complain. I don't just assume that all food is bad (or that all rooms are noisy). I have higher expectations for my vacation than that. I rarely have an awful meal at Disney and when I do I generally speak to the manager.

Did you mean you can't find good room service food or just good food in general? Where else did you dine?

Did you try any of these--->
California Grill? Blue Zoo? Le Cellier? Matsunoma Lounge (my favorite snack place)? Narcoossee's? Jiko? Fresh? Artist Point? Portobello Yacht Club? Victoria and Albert's?

OK--Now you have done it! You have made me hungry! :rotfl: I am sorry you didn't find any good food at WDW. Maybe next time!

Welcome to the DIS!

I'm very surprised that you found all food in Disney World to be awful. We have had some very fine top-notch meals in the World...And one of them was just above your hotel room at California Grill. Hope you try that next time...

i just dont like "mass produced food" - which is all you get at disney properties and in the parks. again, this is just my opinion.

I am sorry, but you have been mislead. Your above statement is false.

The restaurants that I listed above (California Grill, Blue Zoo, Le Cellier, Narcoossee's, Jiko, Fresh, Artist Point, Portobello Yacht Club, Victoria and Albert's...and many more) are far from "mass produced foods". They are just like any fine eatery in any big city. Actually, they are some of the best restaurants in the entire state of Florida. I think Jiko even boasts America's most complete African wine selection.

I understand that it is just your opinion, but it is not true.

Not to be hostile, but if it's all bad and that's what you expect from everything Disney - why oh why do you go there?

I too am curious as to what restaurants you ate at. While the buffets are average at best, most of the table service meals are very good as are some of the counter service.

also, with the ME, if you got there at 5 pm and got your luggage at 7:45 pm, isn't that within three hours?

Sorry your vacation turned out to be such a disapointment. The are upgrading the rooms at the contemporary, just not finished yet.

Also, I agree with the above posters about what great food you can find at Disney. If you decide to go back, I am sure there are plenty of us that can give you reccomendations.

Give the poster a break. He/she was just talking in generalizations. Apparently they didn't like the food. Soooo. I do, I even like the buffets. We go to Chef Mickey's every time we are there, which is quite often. We also enjoy O'hanas, some people don't. I don't care if they do. If they don't less of a wait for us. Don't worry, be happy. Merry Christmas.

Actually, he/she wasn't giving generalizations at all. He/she was being quite specific. He/she was saying that ALL food on Disney Property is mass produced. The OP stated that "food at Disney is not good anywhere". These are very specific and very false statements.

This is a message board, and of course opinions are just that. But, I feel it is also a place where people come to gather information for their dream vacations. I just wanted to let readers know that the OP is not educated on the matter and was making false statements. The OP may not be aware of the finer restaurants, and I hope this also helps him or her too :cool1:

I do not agree. While the original poster may have been misguided, you cannot find fault with the general idea they were trying to make, They did not like the food. It is simply an opinion, purely subjective. Nothing more than me saying I do not like cold weather. They may have been wrong about the food being mass produced and they may not have tried every eating establishment at Disney but the point remains, they did not like the food. What is clear is that if I were BO2335, still earning her? ears, I would be very hesitant to post anything on this forum again for fear that the Disney police would tear apart any comment made that was perceived to be negative towards the Mouse in the slightest. It wasn't the point that what they were saying is negative. Making a generalization that ALL food at Disney is bad, is simply not true. It is not like all the food comes from one place. Each restaurant is responsible for whatever type of food they prepare. I could understand if the OP said all CS is bad, because a lot of is pretty much the same. We have yet to hear where the OP actually ate and why they deemed ALL food at Disney bad.

ok - here goes - the report i posted was just my own opinion. enough already. lay off. i have travelled to some of the best places in the US to include: The Broadmoor, The Greenbriar, Ritz Carlton Laguna, The Montage Resort and Spa, and many others. Maybe I shouldnt compare foods - but, all i was saying was, again, my opinion. Yes, we were there only a short time, but, in that short time, what my report says, is how we felt. and NO, i would not ever come to this board and ask for advice again. or do a trip report.

sometimes there are people who dont travel alot and they only see with their tunnel vision. i have been very very lucky (as have my husband and kids) to travel to some great places with great food and other attractions. and no, disney is not on our list for that.

why oh why would i go there??? for the kids. thats it. my husband and i travel at lease three times yrly w/out kids and do other types of vacations.

we just thought the kids would like disney at xmas. thats the only reason we went. now, we went, and never goin back.

i was stating that i was never told it would take a couple of hours to get luggage. and, that when i called down, there was alot of confusion and misleading information given.

I'm still curious where you dined. We also have had the privilege to dine in many upscale eateries and we have found several properties at Disney that are very much on par with the quality that we have experienced in some of the nicer places in larger cities. Examples: Cali Grill, Le Cellier, Narcoossee's, Jiko, Fresh, Artist Point, and V&A's. Did you try any of these? If your referring to counter service I couldn't agree with you more but thats pretty much what I expect from CS at Disney. However, there are even exceptions with CS such as Tusker House.

As a newbie to these boards, looking for info for our upcoming trip, I have to say your trip report comes across as little more than a *****fest. I think the point other posters are trying to make is that if you aren't specific about where you dined, then saying all the food at Disney is sub-par isn't saying much. Regardless of where you dined outside of Disney it would be helpful to post where inside Disney you felt the food was lacking. In reading the trip reports it seems that many posters, besides sharing their opinions, also post information that could be considered useful to others. JMHO.

Then there is of course the possibility that this person isn't genuine in the first place, and is just causing trouble on the boards without having really gone... :smooth:
Not to plant a seed of doubt or anything... :cool1:

That was my first thought too. Whenever I see someone who is relatively new to the boards, and has all bad things to say, I usually think they are out to start something.

Wow. So you have eaten at some great places. So have I! So have many on this board. But, you are still making false statements when you say "all food on Disney property is mass produced". You are wrong. No matter how many "fine" places you have dined, you are wrong. ;)
