I am!!! :cheer2: Since the dates for Spring were October/November, 2 12- 3 months before the program, I'd assume for Fall it's be around late Feb./March.

Hey there. I am hoping to go for Fall 06. I have been awaiting the presentation dates myself! I figure they won't be up until the last presentations for spring season, which is December 16th it seems. For the spring, presentations began 9/12 which is right into the beginning of fall semester for most schools, so to me, it would make sense if presentations began sometime in mid-January, which is the beginning of spring semester for most schools.

So I really hope they release the dates soon. I cannot wait to interview for fall! I applied and interviewed for spring 06 and was accepted to operations, but I was unable to accept. I am really looking forward to going next fall and so I want to apply and attend a presentation/interview as soon as possible! Disney didn't come to my school until November 15th, and from what I have heard, in the past it seems like they come equally as late in the spring semester, so I will probably go to my friend's school which is visited early in the semester.

Good luck! What roles are you looking to apply for? ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

I REALLY want to do entertainment. I have a lot of friends in entertainment from my first CP. If not that, then operations.

I was considering Fall 06 myself :earsboy: I've got a lot of stuff to get figured out first though! (they don't have a representative at my school or anything, so need to find out how they'd handle it here)

When I interviewed for spring06, my interviewer asked for my top 4 role choices and I said: Recreation (specifically for the children's programs if possible), Operations, Hospitality, and Vacation Planner. I don't know what I will apply for fall. I definitely want to apply for the same things, but I don't know in which order and if I still want to try for recreation, since I am not so keen on the other choices I could get if that was my role (marina rentals, towels, etc). My mom is convinced that I should audition for entertainment to be a character performer. I would love to be a princess :D but I know I might not be chosen for that if I actually do get character performer. What do you guys think I should do?

I'm going to apply as well. I apply my freshman year od college and was accepted but was unable to go. I'm not sure where I want to work. My top choices are either Operations, Hopitality, etc... I can't wait for the presentation!!!!!

Tentatively considering applying for Fall 06, but I have a question that I'm a little unclear about. I'm currently a senior in college, but i'm graduating in may, would this affect me being to do the program at all??? i only recently even heard of it or i probably would have applied sooner

No. You just have to be in college when you apply, so you would be fine applying this semester for fall and then going after you have graduated. Good luck!

Yes, I would like to go in the fall. I applied for the spring but then could not go. I was accepted in operations. I am going to apply for recreation, operations, hospitality, and vacation planning again probably. I don't know which I will list as my first choice though, because I really want to do the children's programs with recreation, but I know that's not the only job you can get with that role and I wouldn't really want to do anything else within recreation. What Advanced Internship would you want?

I am like 99% sure I am going to apply for this fall. I really would like to say 100% but I have to see if my school will accept online credits from another school (since my school doesn't accept credits for the internship and they don't have online classes). I can't really afford to go without getting any credits since I want to graduate the spring afterwards. If I don't get credits, I will have to wait until Fall07. But I'm pretty sure I will be able to go for fall06.

I'm still not sure what I want to put as my first choice for my role though....

I asked to be added to the updates list for fall06. So I got an e-mail today and I'm so happy!

Hi Nicole,
Thank you for expressing interest in the Disney Theme Parks & Resorts College Program at the Walt Disney WorldŽ Resort!

We are very excited to announce that our online application for the 2006 Fall, Fall Advantage, and Fall Quarter School Program Sessions is now available on our Web site!

We know that you are very excited to begin the application process, but we have a few key points for you to review prior to doing so.

Presentation Schedule
We are currently in the process of completing our visitation schedule for Spring 2006 on-campus presentations. As the dates, times, and locations of these presentations are finalized, they will be updated on the Web site immediately. You may check the Web site for the presentation schedule beginning January 20, 2006.

E-Presentation
If you would like to get a jump start on your application and interview, you may view our E-Presentation and schedule a telephone interview beginning January 20.

Please remember to indicate "E-Presentation" on your application when you are asked which presentation you are planning to attend.

Program Requirements
The Disney College Program is open to students who are enrolled as a full-time or part-time student in a college or university in the United States. Students must be in good academic standing with at least a cumulative G.P.A. of 2.0. Participation in this program also requires unrestricted work authorization in the United States.

If you are an international student not enrolled in a college or university in the United States, you may be eligible to apply and interview for one of the Walt Disney World International Programs. Information on these programs is available within the "International" section of wdwcareers[dot]com.

We look forward to hearing from you soon!

Yay, I cannot wait! I might even decide to just do the e-presentation, because I can't wait! I went to a presentation for spring06, so I've seen the whole slideshow and such. But if the presentations near me are close enough, I might do one of them. :D

I attended a presentation just for the heck of it my freshman year, and have been debating ever since. But right now I really really want to do it. If I do go through with it, I'd probably do it in the Fall of '07- I could do it earlier, but I really don't want to fall behind in my program. I figure Fall of 2007 would be good, because then I'd be done with all my classes and would just have student teaching left, and I also wouldn't graduate midyear. I guess I will see though! It'd definitely be a lot of fun!

Simba
01-19-2006, 02:10 PM
Yes to both questions!!!

Feigned
01-19-2006, 10:40 PM
Yes, they are definitely adding more schools. They said to look for the presentation schedule on the 20th, so I think this is just a preliminary one and they are adding more as they come. I know for my state, NJ, they had presentations at Rutgers (where I go), TCNJ, Montclair, Rowan, William Paterson, and more that I can't remember. So don't worry if you don't see a school near you up yet!

The application is online now and you bring your completed application and role checklist with you to the presentation. (Just a note, make sure your application is really complete before saving it. I thought it saved and then let you work on it later, but apparently it doesn't- so make sure it's correct before you hit submit!) At the end of the presentation, they will call you up one at a time to schedule an interview time. From what I know, most interviews are now held over the phone. You sign up for a specific time and you are given a sheet with your recruiter information, the name of your interviewer, time of your interview, and such. At the scheduled time, you will receive a phone call from your interviewer. Make sure to give a home/dorm line if possible instead of a cell phone so there is less of a chance of the phone call being dropped (suggestion by Disney).

My interview for spring lasted about 25 minutes and it was actually not as stressful as I thought it would be. The interviewer was very sweet and she tried to make me as calm as possible. I am kind of obsessive about Disney and I wound up looking through several forums/lj communities to see the kind of questions that people were asked and I wrote up a 4 page question and answer guide to myself before the interview, which actually helped me a lot I feel. I read over it a few times and I had it with me during the interview, though I didn't really look at it. If you have some free time to make something like that up, I would definitely suggest it. Make sure to take time to think and answer the question- they do not rush you. I know in a couple of instances I took a pause to really reflect on what I wanted to say. I think the most important thing is to just really exude your enthusiasm for Disney and your desire to work for the company. :D Good luck everyone!

would anyone know the exact date the fall program starts on in Aug?

Joanna71985

That wouldn't be known until you get accepted and accept on the website. There are several different starting dates for both Fall and Fall Advantage.

Feigned
01-20-2006, 08:35 PM
Yeah, when I was accepted for spring, I was given like 3 or 4 arrival/departure date sets. It's not just one date that everyone goes on. The dates seem to be throughout August for arrivals and to the beginning of January for departures going from what I've seen from past years (in forums). :D I'd like to go as early as possible!

I'm so sad. No NJ school dates are up. :(

Joanna71985
01-20-2006, 11:08 PM
I know! Hurry up NJ schools (especially Montclair :teeth: )! I want to know when to go so badly. Also, I don't want the presentations to be too late, because 1) I have to base it on the audition dates and 2) I don't want to apply TOO late.

If you didn't see your school listed, don't give up just yet. I checked early today and saw my school was listed for one meeting. Tonight we've been given two additional meetings! I can't quite imagine why we need three total, but it sure looks like they will be agressively recruiting this time around. Now if I can only wait one more month. :hyper: Best wishes everyone!

I know what you mean. When I did the spring presentation/interview, it was in the beginning of November, which I felt was way too close to the January start time! It seems like from past presentation schedules though that my school (Rutgers) is usually near the end of the recruiting season and I would rather apply sooner. From what I have seen, my friend's school, TCNJ, is usually at the beginning of the season, so I am thinking about just going to the presentation at her school if Rutgers' is too late- or maybe doing an e-presentation. But I think I would rather go to a presentation in person.

Right now the schedule and application are both not working for me. Hopefully when they come back up, there will be NJ schools listed! :D

Make sure you have the application and role sheet printed before you go down to the presentation.

Feigned
01-22-2006, 02:45 PM
Try to have some questions ready beforehand so you can get everything you need to know asked.

Pretty much, the presenter will go through the aspects of the program with a powerpoint presentation and little movie clips in between. When I went, there were some easy questions asked (like "What do you think of when you hear Disney?") that you get pins for answering. After the powerpoint slideshow, you'll get called up one at a time (if you have your role sheet/application all done) to pick a time for your interview. The interviews last roughly 15-30 minutes, so make sure you allow for at least that much time for your scheduling of the interview. Good luck!

So, I just printed out the Roles Checklist and the Character Attendant role is listed under "Additional Roles" which means it requires a seperate interview. But on the website, Character Attendant is listed as part of the regular roles. Anyone know which is correct? Or what this requires extra if it does??

I was wondering about that myself. I think I saw a character attendant post on the myspace group for the College Program, so I will have to see if I can find who it was and ask them if they had to go through a separate audition. Otherwise I guess someone can ask during an interview or presentation for you. Are you considering that role?

Joanna71985
01-22-2006, 09:50 PM
I'm pretty sure that it is normal now. I think that it used to require a seperate interview, but it changed. I too am considering a attendant role, after performer, and before operations.

My school's dates are at the beginning of March, so I'm just going to wait for that instead of doing the e-presentation. I think it's pretty weird that all of the interviews are on the phone now, I wonder if that will be easier/more beneficial or hurtful? 01-25-2006, 07:46 PM
I did a phone interview for this past spring. It actually wasn't that bad. I thought I would be much more comfortable talking to someone in person (I hate talking on the phone though), but my interviewer made me feel really at ease. Plus it was nice that I had the time to write up a question and answer sheet for myself, based on the questions other people were asked, and then I had it in front of me for the interview (just in case I froze up). It was a very natural conversation though. Just make sure to take your time to answer a question- don't just blurt out the first thing that comes to mind if you're not really sure. Make sure to ask questions if you have any. :D

I didn't even think about Boston Joanna. That would be closer actually. I will have to think about it. My dad is telling me that he thinks it would be a waste if I went for entertainment since it's nothing with what I want to do as a career but oh well.

Joanna71985
01-25-2006, 10:13 PM
Same here. My major is recreation, and obviously entertainment is nowhere near recreation. Plus my dad thinks Disney doesn't pay enough (which they don't) but I don't care. The characters make people happy- I know they make ME happy. And I want to make people happy. So I really want to go into entertainment.

Are there any disadvantages to doing the E-Presenation? It would be a lot easier for me to do this with my schedule this semester, but I don't want to miss out of anything by not attending the Presentation.

Joanna71985

I think the only real disadvantage is that you don't have somebody there to talk to, to ask questions, ect like you do at the live presentation. The E-Presentation is good, but I prefer to go to the live one (if I can).

I agree, especially if this will be your first time looking into the program. I went to a presentation last semester, but this semester chose to do an e-presentation. You get a lot of the same information, but without the chance to go talk to the recruiter, ask questions, or speak to students from your school who previously did the program (campus reps).

I agree. That is really the only thing keeping me from a real presentation. But don't be discouraged from going to near the end of the program interviewing season, because it's not like they only have bad jobs left or something. When I interviewed last season in the middle of November for spring (which I couldn't go for in the end), I was accepted for my second choice, which was operations (which is a lot of people's first choices). And if you haven't been to a real presentation before, it's definitely better to do that than the e-presentation, in my opinion, unless a real presentation is not really feasible with your schedule.

i know ppl have searched this b4, but does anyone have a list of questions or know where i would find some that will be asked on the interview? thanks!

I found it by searching through livejournal communities and forums like these. I then typed up these questions and MY responses to them so I would be well prepared and it came to about 4 pages. It really depends on what role you want to do. There are some general questions that almost everyone will get asked and then some specific ones. Here's a list of a few general ones, including ones I was actually asked in my spring interview, and then if you let me know what role(s) you want to be considered for, I can see if I have any of those specific questions too:

1) What is your favorite Disney experience?
2) What is the best thing about the place you currently work now? (if you work somewhere)
3) What is the worst thing about your current job?
4) Give a story about a problem that you encountered at one of your jobs and how you solved it- how you turned a negative into a positive?
5) Know the top few (I had to pick 4) roles you want and give examples of how you would bring magic to them.
6) How would you deal with challenges at work (including with guests, another cast member, etc)?
7) What do you hope to gain from the Disney College Program?
8) How you plan to live with diverse people from all around the country?
9) How would you solve any problems you had with your roommates?
10) What would you look for in a cast member if you were a recruiter?
11) How you have gone above and beyond for an employer?
12) What you enjoy most about your current job?
13) What is the best example of guest service you have seen at WDW (if you have been there)?

And I think that's about it. That's most of my questions, but I also have specific questions for the operations, merchandise, and hospitality roles as well. Hopefully this was helpful! Good luck!

Of course! I don't have very many of those questions, but here are a few:

For Merchandise:
1) What would you do if someone wanted a specific item that you did not have at your location (store)?
2) Say it's the end of the night and the lines are extremely long, in what way do you add magic to the experience for guests?
3) How would you handle an angry guest?

For Operations:
1) What would you do if a child was too short to go on a specific ride?

thank u sooooo much wow those r really thoguthful questions. good thing i can think about them b4 hand now...but how do u answer some of them? i dont want to steal ur hard work of answering but like for question #2 in merch? or even the specific ride one? i guess for that one i would say maybe next time while suggestion some other gret rides that the child would prob love to do instead...

I think you really have to take the responses and make them your own. Like there is no ONE thing to do, so it's not like how I would respond to them would be the only way there is. Just think of the ways you have seen Disney cast members respond to such situations in the past. Think of things that you could do to make the situation better. It doesn't have to be something huge- maybe just taking some time to make small talk with a frazzled parent, having a stash of stickers for kids, etc. The sky is the limit pretty much.

This stinks. I had my mind set on either being a waiter or bartender ( i do both right now and am pretty good at it) and now neither one of the jobs are being offered for the fall. I just dont want to take some old job and have a bad time down there. Now I have to figure out what would fit me best.

I'm sorry to hear that. :( I wonder why they are not offering those roles for the fall? I hope you can find something that suits you.

It's not 100% guaranteed that you would have gotten that role anyway, so you could look at it that way if it would make you feel better (though I'm sure with your experience, you probably would have if they were still offering it). But they typically do ask you for your top 3-4 roles choices, so it's a good idea to pick out a few that you wouldn't mind having.

I don't think you need a special interview for that anymore (especially since it's a phone interview now). But if I find out anything, I'll let you know.

I was considering checking that off on the role checklist, but then I didn't since it was under the roles that needed a separate audition. It was for spring too, and they were doing phone interviews by then too. So I wasn't sure if they really still did ask for an audition or if they just never moved the role to the other list. I guess I can always ask my interviewer if they really do require a separate audition, and if not, if I can be considered for that role as well even if I didn't check it off (actually I did but then I whited it out.).

Oh and if anyone else has mailed in their application/role checklist after doing an E-Presentation, a member of a livejournal community I am in said that she called up to see when they would start scheduling interviews and she was told next week! Yay! I can't wait!

I also agree with just being honest about your hobbies. I think I wrote: spending time with friends, pets, reading, music, exercising, history, psychology, being a Disney fanatic. :P

I might have had something else, but I forget.

When I interviewed for spring 2006, my interviewer said she loved my "being a Disney fanatic" quote for my hobbies. I went on to explain how I am the Disney World vacation planner in my family and that I recently convinced my parents to buy DVC. :D Cute stories like that are a good idea. Make sure they know how much you love Disney! (though I would appreciate if you didn't put exactly the same thing I did ;)).

Believe me, it's not that I want to turn it down. I really really want to go for fall.

However, all along I was give wrong information from people at my school in regards to getting credit for the program. And then I came to find out I couldn't get any credit. So, I would be graduating a semester late. Then I would come home to have no job for my last two semesters of school.

The way I am planning it, I will finish out my last year of school and then apply for fall advantage for 2007, after I have graduated. I can keep my job the whole time then, and have a way to actually pay for the things I need. Maybe then I can just stay down there... either go to grad school near Disney and keep working or do an advanced internship.

And I really don't need people getting "mad" at me, because I am already mad enough at the situation and really upset about not going this fall. But I have a lot of pressure to graduate on time from my family, as well as from myself... and I have to be MATURE about the decision, since although I'd love to just drop everything and go right in fall, I have to keep in mind other things. I had this planned out extremely well, but I was very much jerked around in terms of what I was told at my school and that changes everything.

First of: I'm sorry. I didn't mean to be or sound like a moron. It's just that the WDW CP is an unforgetable experience that I recommend to almost everyone. Again, sorry.

But... it still seems that you are giving up to easily. Granted I don't exactly know all the details but I know there must be a way to solve this puzzle. I say this because I, too, found myself in a similar situation Spring of 04... and I almost did not go. I was, as you, on the pressure of not wasting time and graduating on schedule. So, I took sereal online clasess while doing the internship.

Haha, by the way, I would just love to play a game of CHESS with you.

How exactly am I giving up easily? I have done anything but. You have NO IDEA how many different things I have tried. First off, I was told that I could get credit while I was down there through online courses or independent studies. Then I am told NO, my school absolutely does not take credit for online courses and that you must be registered full time to be able to do an independent study, which I would not be. Those options came directly from someone who worked at the school.

Then I was told from fellow college student that he was offered to take credit through another school (like the Central Michigan, U of NC-Greensboro, Purdue) from the dean. Then I contact this dean and another and they both tell me there is no way I could get credit through another school for many reasons. I can't even just take the Disney classes for credit because even though they are ACE accredited, the dean says that no department will accept credit.

Furthermore, I am not saying that I never want to do this program. I am saying I want to do it the semester after I graduate. Plus, that way I will get to stay down for longer than possible. Believe me, I am very upset about everything that has gone on. And you have no idea how long I have thought about this all. I had been planning since last September on going this fall, to have my dreams crushed after I interviewed. I wish it could be as simple as taking online classes. But no, my school has to be incredibly difficult and not allow credit for them.

So does that seem like I tried hard enough for you? I mean, I'm not 100% decided on not going, but right now, seems like I have to choose that. It's only putting off the program until May (since I would try for advantage instead of just fall).

And I don't know how to play chess, so you'd beat me at that. ;)

Joanna71985
02-24-2006, 10:23 PM
I'm sorry that you have to go through this Feigned. :( I wish that you had been given the correct information regarding credits. Hopefully you can get something worked out, and if you can't I really hope that you can go after you finish school. :grouphug:

Lansley1
02-24-2006, 10:36 PM
thats weird that your school won't let you take online classes. My school doesn't (at the moment) take credits from disney, but I can always take online classes. PLus I thought about going to a different school that would accept them. Just keep in mind that any school down there would most likely take anything from the disney program. I am fianlly getting my associates degree after 6 years (i spent 4 years in the miliatry), and plan on doing the intership then just finishing down there. I think the experience could be worth just as much as the degree. And for taking time off, its not really that big of deal. I graduated in 99. Most of my freinds with degrees right now are still trying to find a soild job. Everyone wants the degree PLUS experience. It is a tought choice, I would say do what you think would be best.

02-24-2006, 11:50 PM
Thanks Joanna. No matter what, I will definitely be there, whether if it is this fall or next. :)

And Lansley, for some reason my school doesn't accept online courses. I honestly don't know why since the rest of the world is doing so, but whatever. I really don't care about graduating a semester late, but there are other issues. I have a job now as a supervisor at a preschool (and I eventually plan to go into teaching) that will not be there for me when I return after this semester- it wouldn't have been a big deal if I only had one semester left, but for a full year left, I would need a dependable job. It just makes more sense for me to stay at my school and finish out the one year I have left (it doesn't make sense to transfer to a new school), keeping my job, then do Disney for a fall advantage program in 2007 (when I would have only done fall2006), and then stay to maybe work there part time and go to grad school in Florida or do an advanced internship. That makes more sense to me. Then I can just stay however long I want without having to worry about going back to school in NJ.

But I will definitely take this opportunity and have my CP experience eventually!

I replied to your last message (on page 8 of this post). What more of an update would you like? :P Am I really so interesting?!

As of now, I am still not going for fall06. I still have about a week to decide, but I'm pretty sure that, no, I will not be going for that season. But if that is the case, I will be going fall07 (if I get accepted then of course). And as of now, I have convinced my sister to go with me for that season as well, which I think would just be the best thing ever (I am very close to my sister). She just has to make sure that she wouldn't lose her scholarship/financial aid for going.

But I hope everyone has a great time! If you're checking in sometime in August, I will be visiting August 19-26. :P Of course, if you're there before then, maybe I will see you around!

And to your question, here is the dictionary definition:
feigned
Function: adjective
1 : FICTITIOUS
2 : not genuine or real

It's just a word I liked. ;) My name is Nicole, so you can feel free to call me that.

Hi' I was browsing the board and saw your post. Congrats on receiving your acceptance letter. My daughter went thru the interview process last fall at college and was also accepted, infact she is there right now!! She is having the time of her life, first time away from home...
She went down with her two best friends and they were lucky to be placed together in their housing complex. She was able to talk to her advisor at school and arrange for sponsorship from them. She gets 6 credits for attending, takes two classes at Disney so she gets 3 each from that so she is still considered full time for her financial aid.
We are going to visit her in a few days, can't wait.
She is there for spring program that runs Jan. to May. She tells me she doesn't want to come home...even tho she has it good here LOL

Hey everyone! I just scheduled my telephone interview. The soonest time available was Monday night. I'll be at work, but I'll just have to take a long dinner break. I'm sooooo excited. I would like to do the Fall Advantage Program, but I don't get out of school until June so I'll probably end up doing the quarter school program. I don't guess there's too much difference between the two. I still can't decide what roles I would prefer. I'm just excited about being able to go the parks anytime! If anyone here will be there and wants a park buddy, let me know :teeth:. I'll probably always be up for park hopping if I'm not dead tired from working. Thanks!
Operations, I asked for the Safari Ride at the Animal Kingdom. It would be really great if I got it, but any of the rides are cool with me.

Wow, I hope you get it! I arrive on the 28th too, and I'm in Operations as well. My recruiter said she wanted to put me in the Haunted Mansion, so that might be where I end up. :]

Good luck with your chosen rides you guys! Now... I have an insy little question. I got into Operations, but didn't apply for it (well on the phone I told my recruter I'd do it if nothing else was open). And we didn't talk about rides at all. Does this mean I won't be working on a ride?

Not necessarliy but I know operations could be other things like park greeter. I suppose you could always call your recruter and ask to be sure.

So I have a question:
I have heard that employees can audition to be in the candlelight processional, anyone know anything about this?
I'm in choir at my college and this would be really fun to do.

Aug. 28 is my arrival date too! I'm going to a Lifeguard, unless I fail the tests, and then I'll be somewhere else! Operations will be so fun, congrats!

It's official! I'll be down there this Fall working Full Service Food and Beverage (which pretty soon, I will refer to as FSFB because that's just too long!!). I had to get one of the late arrival dates (9.4.06) because a friend of the family is getting married and I want to be there. Hope to see some of you down there!! :wave2:

I'm 5"1. It said online Face Character. So, including face and non face characters, do you know which ones are in my height range?

Another thought: I'd like to get to know people more in general going this fall, but specifically those arriving with me on the 4th. Feel free to email me on here or at hegglest@emich.edu.

Oh, and Harmony272: your reply with "the dead center" to a previous post made me laugh. I love that ride.

*scratches head* I'm about your height and I've been to auditions in Orlando, (though I did politely decline, as I had no idea they wanted me to dance in parades and that just freaks me out!) When I was in flip flops, I was told that for fur characters I'd be either Mickey or Minnie.. but when I was at the interview in my Docs which raise me about an inch or two, they said Chipmunks. I highly doubt I have the facial structure they're looking at for face characters, but I'd say it's a good bet that girls our size would be playing Wendy or Alice (eee!!) among possible others as far as face characters go.

Ok so now I'm curious about character performers. Can you audition when you get there and change roles? How does this work. I don't really know anything about it.
Also anyone know about singing oportunities with the college program, like choirs, solos, shows? I just have no clue. :rolleyes1
And if anyone wants to chat about the college program with me, feel free to email me at KristiCorie@hotmail.com
:thumbsup2

You can audition at the end of the CP. There is an opportunity to extend the CP and there is an audition. Even though I wouldn't extend (I can't. :guilty: ), I would go to the audition anyway (to see if I get accepted.) if I get accepted to the CP. My aim is joanna71985.
