Hello:
I have heard several people wondering whether Canadians will be able to even go over the border into the United States when this war starts. Any ideas. We have a trip booked for October. Thanks,
Debbie.

I would imagine borders would have to stay open; but we will continue to see high security. The economy needs the borders to stay open for both countries. Too many suppliers require "just in time" shippments in their factories (ie. automotive parts). Food also needs to cross borders as well as people who work in either the US or Canada. Many people living in border cities like Detroit and Windsor work in the neighbouring cities. Tourism is also important to keep the economy rolling. If they want the economy to come back then they will stay open.

I remember going to Texas on a business trip during the Gulf War. Security was very tight at the Dallas airport, and they frequently announced "Any luggage left unattended will be exploded". They weren't kidding, either. You were required to remain right with your luggage at all times and cautioned not to watch packages/luggage for anyone else. Check-in and customs/immigration moved more slowly than normal, but otherwise most things seemed to be "business as usual". We're also thinking of heading down, and I'd be interested to hear what others are thinking.
