I am planning on throwing a surprise party for my dw and would like to get a grand villa. My questions are.....
1.which grand villas have the largest square feet?
2.which one has the best lay out for a party,it would be about 10 or 12 people so I would want the biggest living room because this is where most people would be.

Thanks in advance

I would say an OKW GV has the most square feet, but it's split between two floors. I like the two floor GVs better, but for your needs perhaps a single floor GV at BWV would be better.

I don't think you'll be disappointed in any of them! :drinking:

The problem with SSR GV, however, is there's a dividing wall between the living and dining rooms, which may make it feel tighter and smaller.

I recommend going to the DVC website (http://dvc.disney.go.com/dvc/index) and taking the 360 degree room tour ("see our resorts"). That will give you an idea of the layout.

The one-floor BWV GV's "main room" is monstrous. You could easily play racquetball in there... We had 10 (6 adults and 4 kids) in there with plenty of room to spare.

The 2006 Unofficial Guide lists the square footage of the grand villas (I believe they use averages) as follows:

BWV: 2491 sq feet
OKW: 2202 sq feet
SSR: 2113 sq feet

However the UG still lists VWL as having grand villas, not sure what that's all about....

Agreed. If you want the largest single open area, then the BWV one-floor GV is your best choice. (Note, BWV also has a 2-level GV so you'd have to be able to confirm you'd be getting the 1-floor version)

OKW is probably the best choice for living and sleeping arrangements if that's very important to you since it's larger than the other resorts' GV's, but the living area open room is not that large compared to the BWV one-floor version.

SSR GV's are unique in that the 2nd level also opens up to the outside. This makes it easier to get luggage in/out, and you can exit the villa without having to go down the inside stairs and through the living room.

Disney claims 2,375 for OKW GV.

If you go to the DVC promotional site, there are within a few clicks 360-degree tours of the units including the grand villas. Try this link:

Thanks for all the great info...one more question, how many grand villas does each property have and how many single floor type does bwv have?

I know that the BWV's have 7 GV's and I think 2 are the two story type. Not sure about the other resorts...
