Just wanted to show off a picture of my birthday boy and his Nemo cupcake cake... I was so excited it turned out, because I have ZERO cake decorating skills! I got the cute little Nemo toys at the Dinsey store. Anyone else have homgrown disney cake pictures to share?

We had my DD's 3rd birthday party last weekend and I made her an Ariel cake. It turned out ok to me, but she loved it. Here are some photos:

That is so cute! Great idea with the cupcakes too! BTW, where did you get the cupcake holder at and how many does it hold? I am thinking this would be perfect for DS's Incredible party in May with all the preschoolers!

My aunt makes all of DS's birthday cakes and so far has made Tigger, Buzz and Blue (from Blues Clues). The Buzz was last year and came out awesome. Unfortunately I don't have pictures on this computer I can post.

I got mine at Michaels craft store...they have them to hold 9, 32 or I think 48 cupcakes. I choose the one that holds 32. If you have a Michaels, make sure you clip their coupon from the Sunday paper before purchasing...I got mine for under $20 that way and normally I think it was $30+. If you don't have Michaels, I know you can order them dirrect from the Wilton's catalog or I've even seen them on eBay. Michaels is by far the thrifty route however.

Princesspiglet- I love the Ariel cake. I bet your cute little girl was on cloud nine! Maybe I can talk my DSIL into letting me make one for one of my nieces....hmmmmm

I love the Nemo cupcakes! What a great idea!

I also love the Ariel doll cake. My grandmother made me a cake similar to that about 25 years ago and I still remember it. It was my favorite birthday cake!

I've made DS's cakes the last 2 years. Neither of them are Disney but I'll post pics anyway:
The first one is from his 3rd birthday when we had an LSU football party. I wish I had covered the cake board with green or purple foil. This was the first cake I ever decorated and it was pretty easy because I did mostly stars.

The Charlie Brown cake was for his 4th birthday and was easy too (stars again, lol)

They're both thumbnails, so you can click on the picture to see a larger version.

This year I'm making a snowman cake.

I just bought a cupcake holder tree at Bed Bath & Beyond for $19.99 also. Can't wait to use it now!

I love both of those cakes and the cupcake tree is a great idea. However, I was wondering how did you make the Barbie doll cake with a real doll. I have never seen this done was curious. :flower:

Katerbug,

Wilton sells this cake pan. I honestly have no ide what it is called. i bought it about 7 years ago to make a barbie cake for my cousin. You are actually supposed to use two cake mixes, but my oven was acting crazy and I ended up throwing out the first cake I made because it did not cook through. I only had one cake mix left, so I just made it with one instead. When you make it with two cake mixes, you can actually stick the entire barbie doll downt he center. As you can see from the picture, there is a metal insert in the center of the cake pan (so the cake cooks through the whole way), so when the cake is done, there is an actual hole where you can put the legs. It looks much better with 2 mixes. Since I only used one mix, the dress ended up shorter and I had to snap off Ariels legs to put it through the middle! I didn't realize that barbies nowadays don't have snappable legs like they did when I was little, so Ariel is now legless

I am pretty sure Wilton still sells the pan, but I just don't know what it is called!

Here is the cake I just did for my dd's birthday. We did a Mickey and Minnie Theme, as we had just gotten back from WDW. I have also done Pooh, Tigger, and Cinderella. They are all made with Stars and very easy to do!

I decorate cakes for a living, and I must say that to have no experience you guys are doing a great job on the cakes! As far as the cake pan goes, it's just called a doll cake pan, you can order it from Wilton, but I used my Pyrex bowls to make mine, so I didn't have (yet another) cake pan that I would only use once. I have a three piece set of Pyrex, so I just cooked the cake in the large and small bowls and stacked them, cut a space for Barbie (wrap her in Saran wrap first or you'll never get the icing out of her joints, lol and you may also want to put her hair up too.) and iced the cake.

this year we did pirates as in POTC. but can't find a digital picture. Just used a football pan and made an island out of it and stuck in playmobile palm trees, pirates, sea creatures and pirate treasure. put it on a blue plate for water. came out awesome! Made treasure chess out of mini loaf pans for school. those were cute also..

I also make cakes "not for a living" but for spending money..I undercharge only because I LOVE to make them..You guys are doing a WONDERFUL job, you never know you could start doing these for friends and family and in no time you could have enough money for a disney trip!!!!

Also you can get pans REALLY cheap on ebay and at yard sales I haven's paid full price for one yet!!
