View Full Version : Solo travelers - tell me I'm not crazy!!!
Okay, here's the situation: I'm a single female in my mid-20's heading to WDW solo July 30-August 7, 2006. I'll be staying on DVC points July 30 and 31. I'm really torn about where to stay for the rest of the week; I'm having a hard time deciding between the Dolphin (it's the least expensive Epcot Area Resort, and I *love* the Epcot area, but I stay at the Dolphin frequently and am looking for a change) and the AKL (I stayed there in 2004 for my birthday and I loved it). Anyhow, the AKL (savannah view) is about $400 more than the Dolphin. Every time I think I've made up my mind, I think about a reason why I should stay at the other resort.
So, long story short, I'm thinking about splitting my stay between 3 resorts: BWV (2 nights), Dolphin (3 nights), AKL (3 nights). Am I crazy to split my stay between 3 resorts in an 8 night stay? Suggestions?

As long as you don't mind packing up and moving, I think it's a great plan! I split a trip between BWV, BCV, and VWL last year - same length trip, and it was great!!!!! I think it's easy to move when you are solo - most of the people on this board who don't like to move seem to have families with them, which can add to the amount of stuff you have to pack. But as a solo, you can get your stuff organized pretty easily, and the bell service is great - just let them know where you're moving, and it's all taken care of for you!!! Especially if you're planning to be in the parks all day anyway. If you need to, you could always pack a small bag and store it in the lockers at the park, for stuff you need right away, in case your bags aren't ready as soon as you get to the new resort.
But I say go for it!!!!!
I forgot to mention that I'll be renting a car, so that will definately help with moving between resorts.

you are aware of the extra charges at the D/S - right?
they charge for parking and I think they also have a resort fee?
Your plan is great!!!
I love WDW so much, that I even stay offsite for my WDW fixs....

I love switching resorts a lot! It's really not that much of a hastle- just have your bags sent to your next resort when you leave in the morning, go to the parks for a while, and around 3 go to the new resort to check in!
re: spiceycat, I don't think S/D have resort fees anymore

I'd do it. As others have said, moving is not so much of a hassle when you're solo. And it's even less of a hassle if you have a car.
Have a great time enjoying all three of those great resorts! (Actually, I only know first-hand that AKL is great, but I'm staying at BWV in February.)
